On May 14th at 9:30 p.m, ESPN will show a new 30 for 30 about Cleveland sports called Believeland about the heartbreaks that Cleveland fans have had since the 1964 NFL Title that the Browns won.

That got me thinking: Are we witnessing another horrible chapter in the history of the Browns (and Cleveland sports)?

At QB, they decided to pass on Carson Wentz, going with RGIII and Cody Kessler. With that in mind, are the Browns setting themselves up to fail again?

Since they came back in 1999, this is a team that has made several mistakes, and had some other things that didn't work out:

1999: Taking Tim Couch was inexcusable. You are an expansion team. You don't draft a QB #1 overall unless they are John Elway or Peyton Manning.

2000: Couch was a mistake, but since they took him, get him a franchise tackle (Chris Samuels), for crying out loud. They couldn't do that. They also could have had Darren Howard or Mike Brown over Dennis Northcutt, and they could have had Erron Kinney, LaVernaues Coles, or Darrell Jackson in Round 3 instead of Travis Prentice.

2001: Passing on LT was another mistake. It was the second straight year that the Browns passed up help for Couch for an overrated defensive player (Gerard Warren). They also took Quincy Morgan over Ochocinco, and drafted a guy (Jeremiah Pharms) that ended up getting sentenced to 41 months in prison (his drug dealer got shot while he tried to buy drugs, and he was caught up in it) before he was to leave for minicamp.

2002: Another bad draft, led by RB William Green of BC, who was a bust.

2004: Kellen Winslow and Jeff Garcia. Enough said.

2011: After Peyton Hillis gets on the cover of Madden, he only rushes for 587 yards the next year.

Are we witnessing another chapter?

Now, Hue Jackson could revive RGIII's career. Or, Kessler could be right for his system. However, it is far from a sure thing. I wonder if we will look back at this 5-6 years later and wonder what would have happened if they drafted Carson Wentz and Myles Jack in the first two rounds.
