Why Dalvin Cook or any Offensive lineman to the Colts makes no sense.

Everyone and their mother has the Colts taking Dalvin Cook in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft and personally i don't get it. The Colts have the ageless wonder Frank Gore for one more year, Robert Turbin played very well as a 3rd down back and a back the Colts used in goal line situations. The Colts have to address that mess of a defense and people have them taking Cook, are you serious? It's obvious at this point that everyone hopped on the Dalvin Cook bandwagon because they can't be bothered to do research. Unless the Colts land Melvin Ingram, Dontari Poe and Malcolm Butler in Free agency there is no chance they will take Cook. It doesn't matter how good your offense is if you give up 30 points per game.

This is my current pre-combine mock draft

Round 1 Pick 27 (Trade with Kansas City) - Takkarist McKinley, OLB, UCLA
Round 2 Pick 16 - Cameron Sutton, CB, Tennessee
Round 2 Pick 27 (K.C) - Chris Wormley, DT, Michigan
Round 3 Pick 15 - Anthony Walker, LB, Northwestern
Round 4 Pick 14 - Kareem Hunt, RB, Toledo
Round 4 (Comp Pick) 144 - Devonte Fields, DE/OLB, Louisville
Round 5 Pick 16 - John Johnson, S, Boston College
Round 6 Pick 15 - Alex Kozan, G, Auburn

Drafting a RB in the first round is a wasted pick if anything because no matter how good the running back is it doesn't matter if your O-line sucks. The Colts O-line needs time to develop for another season because they showed promise at the end of the 2016 season.

People that have the Colts taking Cam Robinson or Ryan Ramczyk in the first round also don't see the Colts defensive issues. Yes, you need to protect your franchise QB but Colts OT Le'Raven Clark shined against the Vikings last season but had some hiccups after that however they can be easily worked out. People don't seem to understand that constantly changing a unit won't make them any better. The Colts have had 35 total starting line combos in Luck's career and they haven't gotten better, Joe Philbin has done a really good job getting the Colts O-line to at least be passable after his first season as the Offensive line coach so adding another 1st round rookie would just screw everything up. A tackle is not what the Colts need, a pure right Guard is what they need the most on the line right now but Joe Haeg seems to be competent against anyone not named Malik Jackson.

With Robert Mathis retired and Erik Walden not getting resigned (Hopefully) the Colts need someone to play outside linebacker. New GM Chris Ballard is not expected to make a big splash in free agency despite having 50+ million in cap space so the draft is where the Colts need to find their defense for next season. A Running back is not what the Colts need and if you just give the Offensive line time they will shine. For example look at the Titans offensive line, people thought they would be one of the worst offensive lines in the league but they finished in the top 3, Chance Warmack was a mediocre guard coming into this season but he finished as one of the better ones int he league. It's being consistent as a unit that makes offensive lines good. An offensive line is not something you can just constantly throw draft picks at, switch everyone around and expect consistency.
