Already Happened:

OT Will Beatty- Cut

OG Geoff Schwartz-Cut

*Surprised to see both cut as I expected one to be retained.  I expected them to retain Beatty to play RT, but if he was unwilling to negotiate [possibly due to issues with being asked to move to RT for 2016: Pure speculation on my part] then it was the correct call to cut him.  Schwartz hasn’t done anything when healthy to warrant his contract the fact that he is injury prone is just more reason to cut him.

MLB Jon Beason- Retired

WR D’Anthony Dable- Signed: I am intrigued by this guy as he genuinely seemed to have a speed and good hands in the one video I seen of him.  He has a chance, it is all about his mental game at this point.   Physically he is there.  Yes he looks like he is playing against d-3 college players in the video tape, but they have fast people in Germany too.  When he runs he is quicker than everybody else.  Won’t be the case in the NFL, but he will run past some corners.  At 6’ 5” if he has the body control we have a huge red zone threat opposite ODB.  Don’t sleep on him, if he can get the mental part the NFL game he will contribute.  I expect him to be seeing 15-20 snaps on offense by game 12 (Will get very limited if any snaps game one, but from the second week on he will see the field in a handful 5-7 snaps a game on offense.  Even with Cruz, Harris, and possible veteran FA/Reuben Randle back, and potential draft choice McAdoo will rotate the WR in and out of the game, with ODB being the one consistent who sits maybe 2-3 plays a game).

*Roughly 56.5 million in CAP space

Restructured:

WR Victor Cruz- He’s a hometown kid (although a Dallas Cowboys fan growing up…), a fan favorite, and if he’s willing to give up some cash he won’t go anywhere.  Hopefully he can come back and be ¾ of what he was; because that will be better than what we currently have outside of OBJ.  This saves JR 4 million this year in CAP space.

*CAP space after restructures: 60.5 million

Players out right cut:

OT Marshall Newhouse- An upgrade is needed, even if it just to back up Bobby Hart. (Saves 1.55 million)

*CAP space after cuts: 62.05 million

Players cut at training camp:

CB Leon McFadden, DE Stansly Maponga, S Nat Behre, WR Tavarres King, DT Louis Nix, LB Nico Johnson, CB Tramain Jacobs, S Cooper Taylor, LB James Morris, S Mykkelle Thompson, QB G.J. Kinne, S Justin Currie, C Shane McDermott, LS Tyler Ott, K Tom Orbaski, RT Jake Rodgers- Rest of the roster on overthecap, that I don’t see making the team next year.  Currently not part of the top 51 who count towards the CAP.

Current FA not resigned:

CB Prince Amukamara- I think that JR won’t tag him, and Prince will want to test the waters where I think somebody massively overpays for him (Right now I see Oakland giving him something like 4 years/ $40 million deal).  He’s a quality #2 guy when healthy, but is never healthy.  He’d be a hard guy to walk away from, and it only stands to hurt JR’s already bad reputation about draft picks.  However, I don’t want to see JR overpay for Prince.  There isn’t much out there, but JR doesn’t just overpay a Giant free agent to overpay a Giant free agent.  Other team FA’s sure, but not our own. We need to make DRC the #2 guy where he would excel like Antonio Cromartie does.  DRC is good enough to be the #1 CB, and has the contract that says he’s the #1 guy.  However, his health is a concern and that won’t get any better the older he gets.  We could use a new #1 guy (even if it’s a draft pick who doesn’t become #1 until 2017 season) and new slot cornerback going into next year.  We also need depth and start thinking about DRC replacement at the #2 spot.  This is why I sound like a moron for not resigning Prince, but overpaying will only hurt more down the road.  Overpaying for bad players is part of the reason our roster is in shambles…

DT Cullen Jenkins- Wasn’t the same high level player he was when we signed him, with 3 years now added he’s a shell of his former self.

S Craig Dahl, S Brandon Merriweather, TE Daniel Fells, LS Zak DeOssie, CB Trumaine McBride, DE George Selvie, LS Danny Aiken, CB Jayron Hosley, C Dallas Reynolds, OG Adam Gettis, DT Markus Kuhn, OT Brandon Mosley, WR Myles White, WR Marcus Harris.

FA Resigned:

DE JPP- 1 years, 10 million (4 million guaranteed, 6 million incentives laden deal):  JR let’s JPP test out the waters, but JPP won’t see too many long term deals, and the ones he does won’t be as high to his liking.  Giants offer him the best one year prove it deal on the market.  I think the plan after this season will be for OO to take the next step and replace JPP (who I have a hard time seeing JR commit to long term) or find his replacement next offseason.  I would personally offer the 5 year/ 60 million contract again with one change, an easy out after the first year.  If JPP shows that he is still a threat on the D-line, and I believe he can be even with his damaged right hand, then you have him at a reasonable price compared to the rising salary cap going forward.  If he struggles, you can cut him and try to resign at lower deal; although a resign then would be unlikely as bridges will be burned.  Can’t see JR or the Giants offering that long a contract given the question marks still remaining.

DE Robert Ayers 3 years, 18 million (6 million guaranteed): I think this contract will come in around 3.5 million cap hit year one, with outs after each year.  This will be the contract, or I think something in this ballpark will be, that JR thinks is Ayers price.  If someone comes in with a much higher number than this I don’t know if JR will get into a high bidding war.  It is hard to tell the market on an aging vet in a year where it seems everybody has money to give out one star contract this free agency.  If this is where his money plateau’s then I think he will be a Giant next year.  If he gets 8-9 million a year I think JR will balk and look elsewhere.

K Josh Brown (1 year/ 1.5 million): One more season out of the 39 year old.  Still think we should have kept McManus, but Brown has done nothing wrong, just an age thing.

*DT Barry Cofield/WR Hakeem Nicks- resign to vet min, but ultimately both get cut in camp.

RFA:

TE Larry Donnell (original round; 1.5 million) Giants will match offer if low enough elsewise will let walk.  I don’t see anybody offering him a contract at more than 1.5 million so he stays

ERFA:

TE Will Tye, TE Jerome Cunningham (cut in training camp), RB Orleans Darkwa, S Bennett Jackson, P Brad Wing, OT Emmett Cleary.

*Begin FA with $50.05 million in CAP space

FA signed:

1. RT/OG Kelechi Osmele, (Baltimore)

Osmele is signed to be the future at RT with Bobby Hart being the RG of the future.  This signing means the starting o-line for 2016 (and conceivable at least the next 3 years) would be, left to right, Flower-Pugh-Richburg-Hart-Osmele.  If Osmele struggles at RT (he performed well at LT in place of Monroe when he got hurt.) he can be put back at guard with Hart given a chance at RT.  Front load the first 2 years of the contract so to leave money to sign Pugh, Flowers and Richburg when there time is up.

(5 years, $50 million [$20 million guaranteed]; $10.5 million cap hit this year; $39.55 million in cap space)

2. Casey Hayward, (Green Bay)

The Giants will negotiate with multiple CB this FA and compare their asking price to Amukamara’s.  I think that Amukamara would need to come at 7-8 million year for the Giants to sign him, but that someone like Oakland will offer him close to 9-10 million a year, and he will jump as they are a team on the rise both offensively and defensively.  With Amukamara taking his talents elsewhere JR quickly turns his attention to his replacement, and enter Hayward.  He is going to command the same contract as Amukamara will, but has been healthier and just as quality a corner; though a downgrade vs. the run.  His contract will come in just north of the 5 year contract that DRC signed as that just is how the market goes; each year brings a higher dollar value.

(5 years, $43 million [$18 million guaranteed]; $9.5 million cap hit this year; $30.05 million in cap space)

3. MLB Rolando McClain (Dallas)

Everybody will be hot on the Danny Trevathan trail, but I just don’t see JR getting into a bidding war for a MLB.  However, with Dallas not resigning McClain JR goes after him while other teams are trying to figure out to steal Trevathan away from Denver.  McClain was a bust, but he isn’t anymore.  He isn’t Patrick Willis, but he will be an upgrade over what we had in Beason, and what we have in Unga (who I like, but can’t count on him to be a starter).  McClain has been good in coverage, and as long as he keeps his head on straight he can anchor the D for the next 3-5 years while JR scours for a day 3 LB to groom.  Again front load the contract leaving slight cap numbers on 2 million a piece for years 2019-2020 as he will likely be in a backup capacity those years (will be 31 and 32 during those seasons; which is old for a LB now a days).  Helps our D while damaging a NFC East rivals.  Sounds like a JR move to me.

(5 years, $25 million [$8 million guaranteed]; $7.55 mill cap hit this year; $22.5 million in cap space)

4. WR Mohamed Sanu (Cincinatti)

Reuben Randle’s replacement at #2.  I think he will only end up getting a 1 year prove it style contract.  He’s young, but after a down 2015 I don’t think he will see too many long term deals with good money numbers.  He takes the one year in NY to see if he can’t skyrocket his stock as he will have a chance to start for a passing team.

(1 year, $3.5 million [$1 million guaranteed]; $3 million cap hit this year; $19.5 million in cap space)

5. CB Brandon Boykin (Pittsburgh)

We need a slot CB, enter one of the best Nickel CB’s in the league, and he’s young.  Considered by many to be the best in his time in Philly, Boykin spent much of the year on the bench in Pittsburgh this year.  When given an opportunity to play in December he again played well.  JR signs him and hopes he has finally fixed the problem at the nickel CB spot.  Even with signing DRC two years ago the Giants need an overhaul at CB.

(2 years, $8 million; $2 million guaranteed; $3 million cap hit this year; $16.05 million in cap space)

6. TE Dwayne Allen (Indianapolis)

Why would we sign Dwayne Allen if we are going to pick up Donnell’s option?  Simple, Allen is better while on a RFA contract Donnell will be cheap enough to be kept around for another year.  We should have selected Allen in the 2nd round of 2012 instead of Rueben Randle.  Allen isn’t a super sexy name, but he should improve the offense tremendously without breaking the bank.  I want Alshon Jeffery to be a Giant next year as much as the next fan, but I just can’t see the Bears letting him go.  They will either tag him, or sign him long term.  Dwayne Allen market, at least the media hype pre-free agency market, doesn’t seem to be overly hot.  I think JR can bide his time on Allen and let the market see itself out.  This contract will be more back loaded much like when we signed Brandon Myers, you know that bust of a TE from Oakland, and there will be an easy out after the first year.  Allen will only see the money if he takes off and runs with the #1 TE spot.  This completes the Giants roster with Allen and Tye as 1-2, and Donnell and Cunninghame set to battle it out in camp over the last roster spot.  Who would have thought that last year’s preseason break out player (Donnell) would be this year bubble man?

(3 years, $13 million [$4 million guaranteed; $2.25 million cap hit this year; $13.8 million in cap space)

6. DT Ian Williams (San Fran)

Brought in to help stuff the run.  Young, but with his injury history teams may shy away.

(1 year, $2 million; $11.8 million in cap space)

6. S Rashad Johnson (Arizona)

Here’s another position were people want to go out and throw big money at Eric Berry or TaShaun Gipson.  However, I don’t see Berry leaving KC.  If all else fails, they will tag him. Without Berry on the market I think Gipson gets vastly overpaid.  Enter Rashad Johnson.  He is good in coverage, but not so much in run support.  He replaces Dahl as the veteran S on the roster; with Collins and Bennett Jackson being penciled (key word) in as the starters going into this offseason.  To round out the roster and provide competition to Berhe, Taylor, and Thompson the Giants will draft a rookie and give him a shot at being the 4th man on the depth chart.  Johnson will see time on the field as the Giants like to use 3 safety sets.

(2 years, $6 million [$2 million guaranteed]; $3.5 million cap hit this year; $8.3 millon in cap space)

7. CB Morris Claiborne (Dallas)

Been a bust in Dallas, but still young enough that a one year, prove it, deal won’t hurt.  If he is signed I will root for him to succeed.  It is always nice to see an ex- Cowboy play well in Giants blue (like Brinkley did last year).  Claiborne improves the depth at cornerback.  Gives us DRC, Hayward, Boykin, Wade, and Claiborne as our CB’s going into the draft.  Could use another player via the draft who could step in and play as DRC and Wade have had injury problems in the past.

(1 year; vet minimum; 7.5 million in cap space)

*Not quite to the 11 signings JR had in 2014, but a significant haul once again.  The rest of the money (minus draft picks signing cost) is untouched unless injuries dictate otherwise.  This money is then used next offseason when I think that Hankins (will be a UFA) is resigned and Pugh signs an extension, and any incentives JPP may have reached will become dead money.  Also have to worry about extensions for ODB and Richburg 2 years from (ODB will get a new deal after year 4 [possibly next offseason depending on cap space and needs] as it is obvious he isn’t going anywhere).

Would have liked to make a run at Lamar Miller (Miami Dolphins) and replenish some of his cap hit by cutting Rashad Jennings, but I don’t see JR investing in RB 3 years in a row.

2016 NFL Draft:

1. Tennessee Titans: S/CB Jalen Ramsey, Florida State

First pick of the draft, the first surprise of the draft.  Nobody is thinking of Ramsey to the Titans, but would they be crazy enough to do it?  I don’t see why not.  Tunsil is a fine prospect, but Lewan is an emerging player in this league.  That being said if you are not sold on Tunsil, which the consensus is there is no clear cut #1 (although rumor has it Titans plan B is Tunsil).  I don’t think Ramsey will be out of the question.  Has been compared to Charles Woodson, and the Titans have a need at both CB and FS now that they have cut Michael Griffin.  Just concreted himself as the #1 DB in the draft at the combine, and seriously put his name into the running for #1 overall.  He won't drop to #4.  Tennessee has a need, Cleveland will have a need if they lose Gipson during FA, and San Diego is the favorite spot for him to land pre-combine.  His combine has at least placed him in the conversation for #1 overall.

2. Cleveland Browns: QB Carson Wentz, North Dakota State

If Hue Jackson feels like this is his franchise QB then he will be the selection.  If not it will be Tunsil.  Almost is Tunsil despite the presence of Wentz, as Hue has won without a franchise QB before (Oakland they played well under his one year, and Bengals with Dalton), but the front office has seen what happens when they miss out on a QB.  They don't want to miss out again and ensure they don't by taking them #2 overall.

3. San Diego Chargers: OT Laremy Tunsil, Ole Miss

Need meet BPA.  Protecting Rivers in his glory years will go along way in pushing the Chargers back into contention.

4. Trade: Miami Dolphins: CB Vernon Hargreaves III, Florida

Miami and Dallas are always wheeling and dealing during the draft it seems so it makes sense that they pull of the first trade of the draft, and only trade in the top 10.  Miami gives up selection #9, 3rd round and 7th round pick (for the #4 pick and swap of 6th round picks) to jump at the front of the Jaguars who they think will select Hargreaves before they can at #5.  Help throughout the secondary is needed.  The game versus the Giants made that real clear.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars: DE/DT DeForrest Buckner, Oregon

Gus Bradley gets his bookend to last year's first round pick (Fowler Jr.). Together they would form a dynamic duo at ends; Fowler with the speed and Buckner with the size and strength.

6. Baltimore Ravens: OT Ronnie Stanley, Notre Dame

If the Ravens lose Osmele to FA then OT is very much in play at #6 (and possibly if Tunsil is to fall to #3 a trade up is possible, but will need to be a good deal as SD will be high on Tunsil too).  Monroe isn’t elite so Stanley has a future at LT in Baltimore.

7. San Francisco 49ers: MLB Myles Jack, UCLA

Bowman is getting up there in age while Borland and Willis retired younger than most expected (Borland especially).  Need for ILB is needed.

8. Dallas Cowboys: CB Eli Apple, Ohio State

Just put his name into the top 10 discussion with a quality showing at the combine.  Makes for 3 CB in the top 10.  Dallas still has issues in the secondary despite picking Byron Jones in the first round last year.

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: DE/OLB Joey Bosa, Ohio State

And the slide stops here.  Not as talented as once though, plus character concerns have been rumored about.  I doubt he slides lower than the top 10.

10.  DE Emmanuel Ogbah, Oklahoma State

Hargreaves and Ogbah are currently the 2 number 1 choices, makes a lot of sense I know, I like for the Giants (I see Ramsey as a clear cut top 3 selection which is why his name wasn't mentioned).  Ogbah is the selection with hopes that he and OO can be the future at ends for the Giants.  I think that JR will move on from JPP after the 2016 season.  OO and Ogbah (if selected) will key for that to happen.  If both come in and show potential JR will feel more comfortable with letting go of JPP.  Experts are going to tell you he is too raw to be selected this high, I am going to repeat the names Ereck Flowers and JPP.  Both were consider physical specimens, athletically gifted but technically flawed.  One went #9 and the other #15.  JR don’t care about technique as much as many experts.  That’s a talent that can be taught, and some players have shown that physical gifts outweigh the benefits of good technique.  I believe Ogbah will make a name for himself at the combine with his measurements and testing.  The production is there; the tape isn’t flawless, but isn’t terrible.  He aces this final test then he will get the top 10 hype he deserves.

*Update.  Same pick as last time.  Ogbah showed out at the combine, but still seems to be thought of as a late first round talent.  Some argue that he is only a 4-3 DE in the NFL which will cause him to be overlooked.  A. He has the athleticism, and the combine showed it.  B.  The Giants run a 4-3 system (along with TB, Dallas, and even Tennessee run 4-3 systems [could be wrong on some of those teams]).  The Giants aren’t scared to take a player earlier than expected.  Before OBJ became Superstar OBJ he was considered a reach by some as they had Aaron Donald as the better player (who in his own right has been stellar early in his NFL career),  Flowers was drafted too early, Pugh was a second rounder everybody said, JPP was a reach (Derrick Morgan was gonna be sooooo much better), David Wilson was a reach and overreaction to TB trading up (JR wanted Wilson, Coughlin probably liked Martin size, but Marc Ross and JR drooled over David Wilson athleticism.  If not for his neck he would have been good in my opinion.  His speed would be a deadly weapon for McAdoo to pair with OBJ).  The Giants will have their top 5 board, their 6-10 board, and then their tiers will fall in (first round talent, 2nd, 3rd and down the line).  If anybody from the top 5 (who I think will be Ramsey, Ogbah, Hargreaves, Jack, and Tunsil) is available then the Giants will select them.  Ogbah is the only person in this scenario who is still there so he is the pick.  And don’t for one second kid yourself into thinking the resigning of JPP and Ayers would stop JR from selecting Ogbah at 10.  We had Strahan, Osi, and Tuck when Accorsi (Reese ran the draft) selected Kiwinuka at the end of the first round in 2006 draft; and then again had Tuck, Osi, and Kiwi when we selected JPP #15 in the 2010 draft.  If the Giants personnel and scouts feel as highly as I do about Ogbah they won’t hesitate one second to select him.  The draft being held in Chicago will at least allow Ogbah to not be booed on his draft day.  Giants fans will turn coat when he becomes a double digit sack producer every year.

What he did at the combine just confirmed to me that he has the best first step off the snap of any D-lineman in this draft.  When watching his video highlights you will see a ton of sacks where he is just quicker to the edge then the lineman, and too strong once he’s there to be stopped.  He also comes around the edge with more fire and more explosion than any player in this draft.  He doesn’t just sack the QB he puts them down, hard.  Yet I have never seen him go high, low, or dirty.  He hits them in the body, just does so with tremendous force.  Ogbah screams JPP to me, and screams Giants draft pick.  Foreign decent (Nigerian in this case), physical specimen, athletic freak (even more so than JPP) who many feel would be a reach at #10.  Welcome to NY (NJ) Mr. Ogbah, I’m glad to see you in Giants blue.

2. DT Kenny Clark, UCLA

There is no doubt that when scouting Owa Odigizuhwa last year the Giants took notice to Clark.  He doesn’t have the explosion as other DT prospects like Rankins or Ndechkimwe, but he does have some very powerful hands.  Either Mayock or Kiper said that this year’s D-lineman group was so loaded that someone with a first round grade may end up being selected in the 3rd round.  That’s a pretty accurate description.  This is an example of that, just not quite as far a slip.  To me Clark is a top 25 talent.  He won’t lead the team in sacks, but he will push the guards and centers around.  This is a selection where if Cleveland doesn’t command much (say a 4th or 5th round selection only to swap 2nd round choices) I would see JR making the decision to go up and get Clark ,who he expects to be selected in the back half of the first round.  Clark will be in the Giants top 25 players, IMO, and if there at #40 will be an easy choice.  Clark being available at #40 isn’t unheard of either as this class is loaded so players will fall.  GM’s will skip over talented players thinking than can nab just as good a player at their position later, but maybe not so at say WR, TE or O-lineman (where talented is slim this year).  Clark was never the flashy player on tape, but you can see his impact on almost every play.  If the first 2 rounds go this way come April, JR will have won the draft in my book.

*previous pick: Adolphus Washington (Ohio State): Not a strong (wasn’t horrible) combine plus red flags pushes his grade down to round #3.  If available in the third And DT has not been addressed, I can see JR selecting him then; just not at #40.

3. WR Keyarris Garrett, Tulsa

Here come the surprise names.  Keyarris looks like Plaxico on the field to me.  Tall, lanky, with stretch Armstrong arms.  Doesn’t have over the top speed (4.53 40 yard dash wasn’t bad though; 1.60 10 yd split was blah) which will scare some teams away, but the potential is there enough to warrant this selection.  He put up good numbers in 2015, and with his size/ arm length/ Vert he should be able to win jump balls.  If he can run routes as well as Plaxico did than he would be a good complement to OBJ on the outside.  I don’t think he is a plug and play WR, but the upside is there.  3rd round will be too high everybody will scream, but I don’t think JR and Co. will think so.  They’ll have him as a round 2 talent who they think slipped to the third round, instead of them reaching for him.  Given his size/speed I am hard pressed to see him lasting to day 3.

*previous pick: WR Corey Coleman (Baylor): I think him not running at the combine will help his stock now that many of the other WR’s ran slower than expected.  I think that Treadwell, Coleman, and Miller are now locked into the top 3 WR slots (in no particular order as it will depend on the team their rankings) who will all be gone most likely by pick #40, if not definitely in the top 63 picks.

4. SLB/DE Victor Ochi, Stony Brook

The star of the East-West shrine game.  Showed tremendous athleticism, and very well could have snuck himself into the second day.  However given his size and lack of a true position his stock may never go above day 3.  The Giants see a player much like Kennard.  Can play as a LB on run plays; hand in the dirt as a situational pass rusher.  Also helps with scheme versatility as he can bookend Kennard as the OLB in a 3-4 front.  I watched the East- West shrine game and Ochi stood out.  Very high motor, and don’t completely rule him out as a LB candidate who is asked to drop into coverage.  He was a pass rush specialist, and will be listed as such heading into the draft, but I wouldn’t be so quick to pigeon hole him.  He won’t be Myles Jack in coverage, but he won’t be pathetic either.  Similar player to an Clint Sintim, Adrian Tracy, Devon Kennard (whose injury problems make the need to select his back up/fill-in sooner rather than later).

* Update he’s bumped up a round.  His combine performance left something to be desired so I think the 4th round is a where he will be selected.  Kiper has said he will be a third round pick (New England with their pick in the third round is what I fear as it seems like a move Bilicheck would make).  JR and/or Marc Ross has said that rounds 4-7 you take players who check of a few boxes for you that you think you can work with.  Ochi’s motor and pass rush skills will get him noticed by the Giants (who have seen that NFL players can come from small schools; even Stony Brook [Will Tye]).  He may end up taking a path similar to Josh Norman who was the star at the East West Shrine game the year he came out, didn’t star at the combine but wasn’t terrible, drafted on day 3 (Norman was a 5th round choice) who takes a few years to develop into a household name.  Ochi may never become as big a name as Norman has this year, but if he can rush the passer in the NFL the way he did at the senior bowl, then he will be.

*previous pick: S Karl Joseph (West Virginia): measuring in at 5’9.” Will hurt his stock, but he may very well still go round 3 as he was a playmaker at the collegiate level (And in the pass happy Big XII so he was tested).

5. OT/OG Jerald Hawkins, LSU

I really hope that the Giants don’t over reach for Hawkins, but he seems like their kind of project lineman.  Good feet and good length.  He’s started at both RT and LT, can be pushed inside to G as well.  JR figures that in a NFL weight room Hawkins can increase his strength to match up in the NFL, with the feet he thinks he can get a quality back up who can start for Flowers or Osmele should one get injured.  If he plays well enough, JR just picked up a valuable trade piece in any of the 3 (Osmele, Flowers, or Hawkins.)  Obviously that is a best case scenario projections, but that will be the ceiling they see in Hawkins.  His floor?  Quality back up/6th lineman on sub packages who also helps out the line on ST.  I have a eerie feeling that JR will select Hawkins in the 4th, and miss out on Ochi to do so.  His draft status to me feels like that of a Just Another Guy right now.  I could very well be wrong.  5th round though are where you take these kind of projects.

*Bumped up a round

*Previous pick: Victor Ochi, Stony Brook (now selected in 4th round)

6. CB Rashard Robinson, LSU

Reese and Ross go back to the bayou again.  He has the height, but he was rail thin at weigh in on combine day.  Given the fact that there are character issues, ran just an average 4.51 forty time, and he hasn’t played football in 2 years (come start of the season) may end up causing him to be UDFA.  Unsure if they will be able to sign him as a UDFA, Ross and JR use their final pick to ensure he isn’t going anywhere but the Timex Performance Center for training camp in August.  Late round flyer on a DB is also a known JR/Ross move.

*previous pick Jerald Hawkins, LSU (now selected in the 5th round)

7. Traded for Brad Wing (Another product of LSU)
