San Francisco 49ers: Ciatrick Fason, RB, Florida
San Francisco may try to rid themselves of Kevan Barlow, who openly criticized the play of his offensive line last year. Ciatrick Fason can immediately take over for the cancerous Barlow.
-
St. Louis Rams: Brandon Browner, CB, Oregon State
The Seahawks have already acquired Joe Jurevicius and Jerome Pathon this off-season, and will probably be adding another wide receiver via the draft. St. Louis needs to compensate by drafting a talented cornerback.
-
Cleveland Browns: Ronald Fields, NT, Mississippi State
Cleveland is switching to the 3-4, meaning a player like Ronald Fields could play nose tackle in the Browns' new scheme.
-
Tennessee Titans: Fred Gibson, WR, Georgia
These are the receivers Tennessee currently has on its roster: Drew Bennett, Tyrone Calico and Kevin Wolcott. That's it. Just three receivers. Fred Gibson would automatically become a very decent third wide out, should the Titans draft him.
-
Oakland Raiders: Lance Mitchell, MLB, Oklahoma
Oakland traded away middle linebacker Napoleon Harris to the Minnesota Vikings for Randy Moss, meaning the Raiders will have to replace one of their better defensive players.
-
Miami Dolphins: Darrent Williams, CB, Oklahoma State
Cornerback Will Poole will take over Patrick Surtain's spot in Miami's secondary. The Dolphins consequently need to add depth.
-
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Chris Spencer, C, Ole Miss
If Jon Gruden wants a consistent running game, he will need to address the interior of his offensive line.
-
Detroit Lions: Chris Colmer, OT, NC State
Detroit lost right tackle Stockar McDougle through free agency, but they needed an upgrade over him anyway. Joey Harrington needs all the protection he can get.
-
Houston Texans: Courtney Roby, WR, Indiana
Jabar Gaffney has not emerged as the secondary receiver the Texans imagined he would become. Courtney Roby could become that receiver.
-
New York Giants:
Gerald Sensabaugh, S, North Carolina
The release of the oft-injured Omar Stoutmire means the Giants have an even bigger hole at safety than they did in 2004. Gerald Sensabaugh could step in and instantly become a starter.
-
Arizona Cardinals: Joel Dressen, TE, Colorado State
Freddie Jones signed with the Carolina Panthers, leaving Eric Edwards as Arizona's starting tight end. Joel Dressen would instantly become a starter.
-
Denver Broncos: Adrian McPherson, QB, Indiana (AFL)
Adrian McPherson's draft status is quickly rising, thanks to brilliant workouts and a great attitude. Mike Shanahan may not want to draft a quarterback, but he will probably feel the pressure from ownership and the fans, who must be sick of Jake Plummer and his erratic play.
-
Philadelphia Eagles: Michael Roos, OT, Eastern Washington
Starting offensive tackles Tre Thomas and Jon Runyan are 30 and 31, respectively. The Eagles need some young blood at the tackle position.
-
Oakland Raiders: Kevin Burnett, OLB, Tennessee
Oakland will continue to upgrade their linebacking corps, by selecting an upgrade over Sam Williams.
-
Carolina Panthers: Michael Boley, OLB, Southern Miss
Mark Fields made an extraordinary comeback from Hodgkin's Disease last season, but he is a free agent and may not be resigned.
-
Minnesota Vikings:
Sean Considine, S, Iowa
Minnesota lost safety Brian Russell to the Cleveland Browns, which means they need depth at that position behind Corey Chavous and Darren Sharper.
-
St. Louis Rams: Garrett Cross, TE, California
Mike Martz should keep adding to his defense, but he will not be able to resist using one of his third-round selections on a tight end.
-
New Orleans: Ellis Hobbs, CB, Iowa State
New Orleans has two solids starters at cornerback, but they desperately need some depth behind Mike McKenzie and Fakhir Brown.
-
Cincinnati Bengals: Justin Babineaux, DT, Iowa
If the Bengals desire to make a serious playoff push, they need to be able to stop the run. Allowing 4.6 yards per carry is not going to cut it.
-
Baltimore Ravens: Vince Carter, C, Oklahoma
Former starting center Casey Rabach has left for Washington, meaning the Ravens will be searching for a new center.
-
Seattle Seahawks: Marion Barber III, RB, Minnesota
Shaun Alexander has been franchised this season, meaning he will once again be a free agent in 2006. He may become too costly to keep, which could lead the Seahawks to drafting his eventual replacement.
-
Buffalo Bills: Wesley Britt, OT, Alabama
Buffalo needs to acquire a replacement for offensive tackle Jonas Jennings, who signed with the San Francisco 49ers.
-
Jacksonville Jaguars: Adam Snyder, OT, Oregon
Jacksonville needs depth at the offensive tackle position.
-
New York Jets: Adam Terry, OT, Syracuse
The Jets need to draft a replacement for offensive tackle Kareem McKenzie, who signed with the Giants.
-
Green Bay Packers: Trent Cole, DE/OLB, Cincinnati
Aaron Kampman will be a free agent in 2006, and he will probably sign with another team. Trent Cole will be his eventual replacement.
-
Atlanta Falcons: Chris Henry, WR, West Virginia
The Falcons failed to secure a weapon for Michael Vick this off-season. They will need to address the wide receiver position via the draft.
-
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Alfred Fincher, MLB, Connecticut
Tampa Bay's defense has had trouble stopping powerful runners in between the tackles the past few years. They need help with the middle of their defense.
-
Indianapolis Colts: Darrell Shropshire, DT, South Carolina
Defensive tackle is one of many gaping holes on Indianapolis' stop unit. Drafting a player like Darrell Shropshire will help improve the Colts' pathetic run defense.
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: Terrence Murphy, WR, Texas A&M
The Steelers lost Plaxico Burress to the Giants and replaced him with... Cedrick Wilson? Oops. Pittsburgh can make amends by drafting a wide receiver like Terrence Murphy.
-
Philadelphia Eagles: Elton Brown, G, Virginia
Philadelphia needs young talent on the offensive line to soon replace the aging veterans on their line.
-
Arizona Cardinals: Sione Pouha, DT, Utah
Sione Pouha is the perfect complement to Darnell Dockett in an effort to improve the league's fourth-worst run defense.
-
Tennessee Titans: Michael Munoz, OT, Tennessee
Not only did Steve McNair complain about management not acquiring offensive linemen in recent drafts, right tackle Fred Miller has already been a cap casualty and left tackle Brad Hopkins may soon follow. The Titans should draft local product Michael Munoz with their third-round pick.
-
Denver Broncos: Ben Wilkerson, C, LSU
Tom Nalen is one of the best centers in the NFL, but he turns 34 in May. Ben Wilkerson could be his eventual replacement.
-
Seattle Seahawks: Lorenzo Alexander, DT, California
A solid defensive tackle like Lorenzo Alexander could remedy a run defense ranked 23rd in the NFL last season.
-
Kansas City Chiefs: Atiyyah Ellison, DT, Missouri
How do you fix a run defense that permitted 4.6 yards per carry in 2004? The Chiefs could start by drafting a solid defensive tackle like Atiyyah Ellison.
