The order of this 2012 NFL Mock Draft is based on the real 2012 NFL Draft Order.
-
Indianapolis Colts: Matt Conrath, DE/DT, Virginia
The Colts will be spending a few late-round picks on pieces for their new 3-4.
-
St. Louis Rams: Tyler Nielsen, OLB, Iowa
Another linebacker to help St. Louis' depth problems at the position.
-
Minnesota Vikings: D.J. Campbell, S, California
Yet another defensive back for the Vikings, who need all the help they can get in that area.
-
Cleveland Browns: Ernest Owusu, DE, California
Frostee Rucker and Juqua Thomas-Parker were two pretty weak additions to the defensive front. Help is still needed here.
Pick change; previously Christian Thompson, S
-
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: David Gonzales, OT, Washington State
The Buccaneers have to find a long-term answer at right tackle. I'm not sure this qualifies, but they might as well try.
-
Washington Redskins: Jerry Franklin, ILB, Arkansas
The Redskins currently need depth at inside linebacker. And soon enough, they'll need a successor for London Fletcher.
-
Indianapolis Colts: Adrien Robinson, TE, Cincinnati
Another intermediate target for Andrew Luck, who loved working with multiple tight ends at Stanford.
-
Miami Dolphins: Darius Reynolds, WR, Iowa State
The Dolphins will probably spend two picks on receivers in the 2012 NFL Draft. It's a dire position of need.
-
Carolina Panthers: Tim Benford, WR, Tennessee Tech
The Panthers could target another receiver late in the 2012 NFL Draft. They've shown interest in Tim Benford.
-
Buffalo Bills: Danny Trevathan, OLB, Kentucky
Buffalo could use two selections on linebackers considering the lack of depth it has there.
-
Kansas City Chiefs: Andrew Datko, OT, Florida State
The Chiefs signed Eric Winson, but they could go after another tackle because Branden Albert is entering his contract year.
-
Detroit Lions: Vontaze Burfict, ILB, Arizona State
I know this is another linebacker... but maybe the Lions will just see this as incredible value. They did say that they weren't going to factor in marijuana usage.
-
Chicago Bears: Dennis Kelly, OT, Purdue
The Bears are looking at Dennis Kelly, who would fit Mike Tice's blocking scheme perfectly.
-
Arizona Cardinals: Emmanuel Acho, LB, Texas
The Cardinals need to bring in someone to push Stewart Bradley and Paris Lenon.
Pick change; previously Christian Thompson, S
-
Dallas Cowboys: Korey Toomer, ILB, Idaho
Dallas lost Bradie James, so Jerry Jones will probably use a late-round selection on depth.
-
Minnesota Vikings: Lionel Smith, CB, Texas A&M
I'm running out of ways to say that the Vikings need help in their secondary.
-
Green Bay Packers: Jeremy Lane, CB, Northwestern State
The Packers have four seventh-round selections, so they'll be doubling up on some positions. Jeremy Lane fits their scheme.
-
Seattle Seahawks: Josh Bellamy, CB, Louisville
The Seahawks haven't added a cornerback yet. They may do so in the latter stages this weekend.
-
San Diego Chargers: Chris Rainey, RB/KR, Florida
Another running back, but this one serves a different purpose. Philip Rivers (or if you want to be politically correct, Philip Frey) really misses Darren Sproles. Why not spend a pick on a similar-type player?
-
Tennessee Titans: William Vlachos, C, Alabama
The Titans signed Steve Hutchinson, but they still need upgrades at right guard and center to maximize Chris Johnson's potential.
-
Jacksonville Jaguars: Ronnie Cameron, DT, Old Dominion
Some more defensive line help. The Jaguars have shown interest in this prospect.
-
Detroit Lions: Bryce Brown, RB, Kansas State
Bryce Brown was a top college recruit, but flamed out at Tennessee and Kansas State. He's worth a shot in Round 7. The Lions need running back depth considering their lack of depth at the position.
-
Philadelphia Eagles: Chas Alecxih, DT, Pittsburgh
The Eagles have a billion picks, so they're going to be doubling up on some positions.
Pick change; previously Kourtnei Brown, DE (ATL)
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: Jerrell Harris, ILB, Alabama
Another Alabama inside linebacker. This one will provide depth behind the other one.
-
New York Jets: Cameron Collins, ILB, Oregon State
Bart Scott won't be around much longer, so Rex Ryan will need to find a successor.
-
Houston Texans: Randy Bullock, K, Texas A&M
The Texans don't have a kicker on their roster, so they'll obviously need to find one.
-
New Orleans Saints: Darrion Weems, OT, Oregon
The Saints have shown interest in Darrion Weems. That makes sense because they need tackle depth.
-
Green Bay Packers: Scott Solomon, DE/OLB, Rice
The Packers really need to upgrade their pass rush.
-
Baltimore Ravens: Buddy Jackson, CB, Pittsburgh
The Ravens have only three cornerbacks under contract who saw a good amount of snaps last year. One is Cary Williams, who is coming off hip surgery. Baltimore could use help at corner, and you can never have enough good ones.
-
San Francisco 49ers: Duke Ihenacho, SS, San Jose State
The 49ers don't have much depth at safety, so they may use a late-round pick to change that.
-
Kansas City Chiefs: Jordan White, WR, Western Michigan
Steve Breaston won't be on the team beyond 2012 because he'll be owed $3.8 million the following season. The Chiefs will need a receiver ready to step in by 2013.
-
New York Giants: Austin Davis, QB, Southern Miss
The Giants don't have a young quarterback to groom behind Eli Manning.
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: Kelvin Beachum, G, SMU
More depth for Pittsburgh's shaky interior offensive line.
-
Green Bay Packers: Chase Baker, DE/DT, Boise State
The Packers have shown interest in Chase Baker, who would provide some depth on the defensive line.
-
New York Jets: Jeff Adams, OT, Columbia
The Jets re-signed Wayne Hunter, but they'd be crazy not to bring in some competition for him.
-
Green Bay Packers: Trevor Coston, ST/S, Maine
The Packers have tons of seventh-round picks, so they'll be using at least one to primarily bolster their special teams.
-
New York Jets: Josh Bush, S, Wake Forest
More safety help for the Jets. They really need help in this area.
-
Cleveland Browns: Brian Stahovich, P, San Diego State
Punter Reggie Hodges is coming off a torn Achilles tendon.
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: Jeremy Jones, CB, Wayne State
The Steelers haven't added a cornerback yet. They've shown interest in Jeremy Jones.
-
Cleveland Browns: Steven Baker, OT, East Carolina
The Browns are really thin at offensive tackle. A very late pick could be used for help even if an earlier one is spent on the same position.
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: John Hughes, DE/DT, Cincinnati
The Steelers lost Aaron Smith and won't have Brett Kiesel much longer.
-
Atlanta Falcons: Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State
Kellen Moore can challenge John Parker Wilson to be Matt Ryan's backup in the future.
-
San Diego Chargers: Brad Smelley, TE, Alabama
Will Antonio Gates ever last an entire season? It's highly likely that Gates will suffer some sort of malady next year, so here's some insurance.
-
Buffalo Bills: Quentin Saulsberry, C, Mississippi State
The Bills could stand to find a capable backup behind Eric Wood at center. Colin Brown has just one career start.
-
St. Louis Rams: Jacquies Smith, DE, Missouri
I'm sure Jeff Fisher will want to draft a defensive end to add to his rotation.
-
Indianapolis Colts: Matt Johnson, SS, Eastern Washington
Mr. Irrelevant provides more help for Indianapolis' putrid secondary. Some competition is needed behind Tom Zbikowski.
