The order of this 2013 NFL Mock Draft is loosely based on my 2012 NFL Power Rankings.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
Kansas City's new quarterback will need a new receiver if Dwayne Bowe leaves. I wouldn't spend the money on Bowe; he's overrated because he's inconsistent and piles up most of his stats in garbage time. He was responsible for both of Matt Cassel's interceptions against the Ravens.

  2. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jonathan Cooper, G/C, North Carolina
Jonathan Cooper can play both guard and center, which has to appeal to the Jaguars because they need both. Left guard Eben Britton, a free agent in March, has been benched twice this season. Center Brad Meester, whose contract also expires after this year, will turn 36 soon.

Pick change; previously Eric Fisher, OT

  3. Carolina Panthers: Carrington Byndom, CB, Texas
The Panthers will need some cornerback help this offseason. Captain Munnerlyn will be a free agent, while rookie Josh Norman has yet to prove that he can be a quality starter in the NFL.

  4. Cincinnati Bengals: Corey Lemonier, DE/OLB, Auburn
Another linebacker. The Bengals were able to upgrade Rey Maualuga in the first round. Corey Lemonier would help with Manny Lawson leaves via free agency. He could also rush the passer on third downs if Michael Johnson also moves on.

Pick change; previously Chase Thomas, DE/OLB

  5. Buffalo Bills: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
The Bills drafted a quarterback in the first round, so they'll need to find a weapon for him. Steve Johnson is currently the only downfield play-maker on Buffalo's roster.

  6. Tennessee Titans: Dallas Thomas, OT/G, Tennessee
Will the Titans finally upgrade the interior of their offensive line, or are they content with Chris Johnson gaining just 2.9 yards per carry unless he's playing the Bills?

  7. Miami Dolphins: David Amerson, CB, N.C. State
The Dolphins have an extra second-day pick because they dealt Vontae Davis to the Colts, so they should probably use one of them on a replacement. Richard Marshall is not playing well.

  8. New York Jets: Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
It's no surprise that the injury-prone LaRon Landry and aging Yeremiah Bell have struggled this year. The Jets need some youth at safety.

Pick change; previously Brennan Williams, OT

  9. Cincinnati Bengals: T.J. McDonald, S, USC
The Bengals had a big need at safety, but they didn't address the position until the fifth round this past April. They'll put more effort into finding an upgrade the following offseason because they won't survive with Reggie Nelson and the recently benched Taylor Mays (for cornerback Nate Clements, who is playing out of position) as their starters.

  10. Arizona Cardinals: E.J. Manuel, QB, Florida State
The Cardinals have to do something about the quarterback position. Kevin Kolb can't ever stay healthy, while John Skelton has shown no signs of improvement thus far. In fact, he looks like he's regressed. Is it too late to ask Kurt Warner to come back?

Pick change; previously D.J. Fluker, OT

  11. San Diego Chargers: Chase Thomas, DE/OLB, Stanford
The Chargers just spent an early pick on a rush linebacker (Melvin Ingram), so why would they do that again? Well, Shaun Phillips will be a 32-year-old free agent next March, so San Diego will need a complement for Ingram.

Pick change; previously Jordan Poyer, CB

  12. St. Louis Rams: D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama
Jason Smith was benched in favor of Barry Richardson and subsequently traded for turnstile Wayne Hunter, so Jeff Fisher will probably search for a tackle next spring. Fisher played against the Texans twice per year when he was with Tennessee, and he watched Houston completely ruin David Carr's career by not building a competent offensive line around him. He won't want to make the same mistake with Sam Bradford.

Pick change; previously Dion Jordan, DE

  13. Minnesota Vikings: Marquess Wilson, WR, Washington State
The Vikings have to add more talent to complement Christian Ponder. They need an upgrade across from Percy Harvin, as Jerome Simpson is way too inconsistent to be a No. 2 receiver.

  14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jesse Williams, NT, Alabama
Gerald McCoy is having a fantastic season, but the Buccaneers need help next to him after dismissing Brian Price prior to the beginning of the season.

  15. Philadelphia Eagles: Tony Jefferson, S, Oklahoma
Kurt Coleman beat out Jaiquwan Jarrett, who was recently waived. Coleman's not any good, despite his two picks of Brandon Weeden, so the Eagles will have to look for another solution.

Pick change; previously Kenny Vaccaro, S

  16. Dallas Cowboys: Sheldon Richardson, DE/DT, Missouri
The Cowboys had the option of picking J.J. Watt at No. 9 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. They went with Tyron Smith, who was great in his rookie campaign, but they were hurting at the defensive end position as a consequence.

Pick change; previously Alex Okafor, DE/OLB

  17. Detroit Lions: Tank Carradine, DE, Florida State
Kyle Vanden Bosch, 34 next month, is having a down year and probably won't be back next season because he's due $5 million. The Lions need help at defensive end.

  18. Washington Redskins: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
The Redskins are really hurting for cornerback depth, and it'll only get worse after the 2013 season when Josh Wilson will be a free agent and DeAngelo Hall will be due $9 million in a contract year.

  19. Miami Dolphins: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
Stud defensive tackle Randy Starks will be a free agent in March. If the Dolphins can't retain him, they'll have to find a replacement this offseason.

Pick change; previously Da'Rick Rogers, WR

  20. Baltimore Ravens: Nickell Robey, CB, USC
The Ravens suddenly have glaring issues at cornerback. Lardarius Webb tore an ACL for the second time in his career, while Cary Williams will be a free agent in March.

  21. Seattle Seahawks: Zach Ertz, TE, Stanford
Adding play-makers for Russell Wilson has to be a priority for the Seahawks this offseason. Help is also needed at tight end.

  22. San Francisco 49ers: Khaled Holmes, C, USC
The 49ers could use some help on the offensive line. Khaled Holmes could eventually take over for Jonathan Goodwin, who will be 34 in December.

  23. Pittsburgh Steelers: Sean Porter, DE/OLB, Texas A&M
James Harrison may not be back next year. He'll be due $6.6 million as a 35-year-old who is having trouble staying healthy. The Steelers may spend an early pick on a rush linebacker.

Pick change; previously Sheldon Richardson, DE/DT

  24. Denver Broncos: Shayne Skov, ILB, Stanford
Is Keith Brooking really a major contributor for the Broncos at middle linebacker? How have teams not exposed this yet? Denver needs a long-term solution at the position.

Pick change; previously Sharrif Floyd, DT

  25. Green Bay Packers: Kenny Stills, WR, Oklahoma
Greg Jennings will be a free agent in March. He's proven to be unreliable in terms of staying healthy, so the Packers may choose not to re-sign him. If so, they may target a receiver early in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Pick change; previously Dion Sims, TE

  26. Chicago Bears: Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon State
Every single corner on the Bears' roster is entering either free agency or their contract year, including Charles Tillman, who will be owed $8.5 million in 2013. Depth will be needed.

Pick change; previously Shayne Skov, ILB

  27. New England Patriots: Travis Frederick, G/C, Wisconsin
Bill Belichick loves versatile offensive linemen. Travis Frederick can play all three inside positions. This is key because the Patriots need to do something about the interior of their offensive front. Tom Brady has gotten killed at times because of poor blocking.

  28. Atlanta Falcons: Larry Warford, G, Kentucky
Peter Konz will eventually move to center and replace Todd McClure, but the Falcons will still need an upgrade at right guard.

Pick change; previously John Simon, DE

  29. Houston Texans: Margus Hunt, DE/DT, SMU
The Texans, with very few needs, can afford to take the best player available. Antonio Smith will be a free agent following the 2013 season, so Houston will need someone to step in starting in 2014.

  30. New York Giants: Khaseem Greene, LB, Rutgers
The Giants have issues in the middle of their defense. The safety position is a problem, as is inside linebacker. Chase Blackburn shouldn't be starting, while Keith Rivers, a free agent in March, can never get healthy.
