Tim Tebow is not a First-Round Quarterback

Walter loves it any time somebody thinks Tim Tebow is a first-round draft pick. If his dog pissed "Tebow No. 1 overall pick" in the snow, he would probably post a link to it in his 2010 NFL Mock Draft. Jon Gruden can't evaluate the position (Rob Johnson, Bruce Gradkowski, Brian Griese, Josh Johnson), so I wouldn't be taking his word on Tebow changing the NFL.

If you read my NFL Quarterback Bust article, you know quarterbacks who run a spread option in college scare me to death, and my track record is pretty good in thinking players like Alex Smith and Vince Young would bust.

However, there has been some speculation recently that Tebow will be a top-10 pick.

I stand by my word last year that I don't think Tim Tebow will ever amount to anything as an NFL quarterback, and I received a lot of criticism for being in the vast minority. Months later, Todd McShay, Mel Kiper and Mike Mayock were all on the same page; none of them feel like he can be a consistent starter in the NFL.

I think Tebow brings a lot to the table as an H-Back and I would spend a third-round pick on him because of his leadership and power running ability, but I would never play him as a quarterback.

Purely as a quarterback, I wouldn't even draft Tebow. I think he is highly likely to bust at the next level. Sometimes intangibles just can't overcome poor mechanics and coming from a very bad offense at the collegiate level.

Don't believe me? Look at Alex Smith and Vince Young.

I will go on the record to say Zac Robinson is my No. 1 senior quarterback. I think he might have enough value to be drafted in the third round as he comes from a balanced spread attack throwing a lot of pro routes. I'm also not buying the Tim Hiller hype. During the Texas Bowl I saw a weak arm, but NFL teams might be impressed enough with his size and production to reach on him in the second round.
