NFL Draft Grades - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 2025 Draft Selections

2024 Pick 26. (R:1 P:26) - Graham Barton, G/OT, Duke
Grade: A
I'm listing Graham Barton as "OL" because he can play tackle, guard and center. This is going to be very useful for the Buccaneers, who have immense problems in the interior of the offensive line. I thought Barton would go a bit earlier than this, so I like the value.

2024 Pick 57. (R:2 P:25) - Chris Braswell, OLB, Alabama
Grade: B+
I had Chris Braswell going a bit earlier than this, so I like the value. The need makes sense as well, given that the Buccaneers let go of Shaq Barrett. Pass rusher was a huge need, and Braswell is a talented player who can easily fill that hole.

2024 Pick 89. (R:3 P:25) - Tykee Smith, S, Georgia
Grade: B+
Tykee Smith has some size limitations, but he's an instinctive player, so I like this pick. The Buccaneers had some major problems stopping the pass last year, so I like them adding someone like this.

2024 Pick 92. (R:3 P:28) - Jalen McMillan, WR, Washington
Grade: A
Jalen McMillan is the forgotten receiver for Washington, but he should have gone earlier than this. In fact, McMillan could have gone in the second round without any complaints. McMillan has some injury question marks, but he's talented and could take over for one of the Tampa veterans in a year or two.

2024 Pick 125. (R:4 P:25) - Bucky Irving, RB, Oregon
Grade: B+
Bucky Irving could have gone a bit earlier than this, so I like the value for the Buccaneers. The pick makes sense as well. Bucky Irving is a shifty and quick runner who can compete for early-down snaps with Rachaad White, who is a terrific receiver but a mediocre runner.

2024 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Prospect:TBD

2024 Pick 246. (R:7 P:26) - Devin Culp, TE, Washington
Grade: B
Tight end depth was a need for the Buccaneers. Devin Culp was projected to be chosen in the seventh round, so this pick amkes sense.

2023 NFL Draft Selections and Grades

2023 Pick 19. (R:1 P:19) - Calijah Kancey, DT, Pittsburgh B- The Buccaneers may have wanted a left tackle, but with all of them off the board, they drafted a replacement for Ndamukong Suh. Calijah Kancey has a huge ceiling with great athleticism, but he wasn't nearly as productive at Pittsburgh as Aaron Donald was. I understand that this is a tall comparison, but that's the one player people talk about when discussing Kancey. I think this is a bit too early for Kancey, but I don't hate this pick.

2023 Pick 50. (R:2 P:19) - Jayden Reed, WR, Michigan State
D Well, at least the Packers are drafting a receiver. Jayden Reed is an explosive receiver, but he's small. I had him slotted in the fourth or fifth round. I think this is a reach, but it's not an overly egregious one. Still, you have to wonder about drafting Reed with Jalin Hyatt and Cedric Tillman available.

2023 Pick 82. (R:3 P:19) - YaYa Diaby, DE, Louisville
B I had Yaya Diaby in the fourth round, so I don't mind him going in this range. Diaby is a talented pass rusher, but gets trampled easily in run support. Given that the Buccaneers needed help getting after the quarterback, Diaby will serve an important role for them.

2023 Pick 153. (R:5 P:18) - SirVocea Dennis, ILB,
C SirVocea Dennis is not someone I considered for my mock draft. He's an athletic player, but he's a small player who doesn't really have a natural position. Maybe he can play special teams well.

2023 Pick 175. (R:5 P:40) - Davis Allen, TE, Clemson
B Davis Allen fell because of speed concerns, but he has nice receiving and blocking potential for the next level. The Rams needed another tight end, so Allen is a solid choice at thsi juncture.

2023 Pick 181. (R:6 P:4) - Josh Hayes, CB,
C+ Josh Hayes is a small and limited cornerback, and it's not even clear if he'll be able to play defense. However, he's a sure tackler and a very good special teams player.

2023 Pick 196. (R:6 P:19) - Jose Ramirez, DE, Eastern Michigan
B- Jose Ramirez would have gone earlier if he didn't have such size limitations. Still, he could be an explosive situational pass rusher for a team that was looking to improve its lackluster pass rush from a year ago.

2023 Pick 230. (R:7 P:13) - Nick Broeker, OT/G, Ole Miss
A Nick Broeker is a versatile lineman who can play tackle and guard. He'll be very useful as a backup because of his ability to play multiple positions. I thought he would have been chosen much earlier than this.

2023 Pick 252. (R:7 P:35) - Alex Austin, CB, Oregon State
B+ Alex Austin is a good athlete with quality size. He has nice potential, so I like this pick. He's a raw player, so he needs development, but you have to swing for the fences in the final round.

2022 NFL Draft Selections and Grades

2022 Pick 33. (R:2 P:1) - Logan Hall, DE, Houston A- Grade
This pick makes so much sense for the Buccaneers. Ndamukong Suh is gone, and even he re-signs, he's a shell of his former self. The Buccaneers need a young presence up front next to Vita Vea. I slotted Hall to the Buccaneers at No. 27 in my mock draft, so I like this value after Tampa Bay traded down.

2022 Pick 57. (R:2 P:25) - Luke Goedeke, G, Central Michigan B+ Grade
Luke Goedeke is a versatile offensive lineman I've had in the late two/early three range, so this is a logical place to draft him. More importantly, the Buccaneers are filling a big need. They lost two guards this offseason, but filled just one spot with Shaq Mason. This addresses the other void.

2022 Pick 91. (R:3 P:27) - Rachaad White, RB, Arizona State
B Grade
I'm sure Tom Brady loves this pick. I think it was made a bit early - I had White in the late fourth round - but I like the fit. Rachaad White is an impressive receiver out of the backfield, so Brady will make good use of him if he can get on the field.

2022 Pick 106. (R:4 P:1) - Cade Otton, TE, Washington B+ Grade
It should come as no surprise that the Buccaneers are picking a tight end to begin Day 3. O.J. Howard is gone, while Rob Gronkowski is a question mark to return, though I think he just wants to skip training camp. Still, the Buccaneers needed a young tight end, and Otton is a solid choice at this spot.

2022 Pick 133. (R:4 P:28) - Jake Camarda, P, Georgia
MILLEN-19 GRADE
I'm so sick of these punter and kicker picks, yet they're great at the same time because I can make fun of them for being so bad.

2022 Pick 249. (R:7 P:28) - Rasheed Walker, OT, Penn State A+ Grade
Another great value pick. I had Rasheed Walker in the fourth round. He never quite lived up to his potential, but he has great upside and perhaps could become a solid pro with good NFL coaching. I love this gamble for the Packers, who needed offensive line help.

2021 NFL Draft Selections and Grades

2021 Pick 32. (R:1 P:32) - Joe Tryon, 3-4OLB, Washington A Grade
I'm loving these high-upside pass rushers at the end of the first round. Joe Tryon has immense upside, but he's raw and inexperienced. The good thing with this pick is that Tryon won't necessarily be needed right away because Tampa Bay has Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul ahead of him. However, Pierre-Paul is in the twilight of his career, and Tryon could be a dominant player in 2022 and beyond.

2021 Pick 64. (R:2 P:32) - Kyle Trask, QB, Florida C- Grade
Meh. I get it. The Buccaneers had no successor for Tom Brady. And Kyle Trask makes sense at the end of the second round, though I had him going in the third frame in my final update. The thing is, Tampa is all in for winning now, so I think the Buccaneers could have waited until the third round for a quarterback and spent this pick on a player to help this year.

2021 Pick 95. (R:3 P:31) - Robert Hainsey, G, Notre Dame
B Grade
I like this pick more for the Buccaneers than the previous one. Everyone is returning for Tampa Bay, so the question is, how could things unravel for them? The easiest answer, besides an injury to Tom Brady, is multiple offensive linemen missing action. Adding blocking depth and a future starter up front is a smart decision at this juncture.

2021 Pick 137. (R:4 P:32) - Tre Brown, CB, Oklahoma
B+ Grade
Tre Brown isn't the greatest athlete, but he was a competitive and productive player at Oklahoma. It's troubling that the Seahawks once again eschewed addressing their blocking and pass rush, but cornerback was a need as well. Brown is a solid value pick.

2021 Pick 176. (R:5 P:32) - K.J. Britt, LB, Auburn
B Grade
K.J. Britt is a two-down linebacker because he's going to struggle in coverage, but we're nearing the end of the fifth round, so it's OK to take a player like that with this pick. Britt will help in run support.

2021 Pick 217. (R:6 P:33) - Khalil Herbert, RB, Virginia Tech
A- Grade
Khalil Herbert was slotted in the fourth round of my mock draft. I definitely like this value. Herbert could end up being a solid backup for David Montgomery, which is something the Bears lacked last year with Tarik Cohen injured.

2021 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Prospect:TBD

2021 Pick 259. (R:7 P:31) - Grant Stuard, OLB, Houston
A Grade
Mr. Irrelevant definitely looks relevant to me. I had Grant Stuard in the fourth or fifth rounds of most of my mock draft updates, so I'm surprised he lasted until the final pick. The Buccaneers did well to help their linebacker depth and special teams.
