2019 NFL Draft Rumors - Day 2

The 2019 NFL Draft is finally here! Here are some rumors that I have heard from sources with the second night of the draft just hours away.

<li> One of the surprising moves in the opening night of the draft was the Pittsburgh Steelers trading up to the 10th-overall pick to select Michigan linebacker Devin Bush. Pittsburgh rarely ever trades up in the first round, but it was determined to add a difference-maker at linebacker. Not only did the Steelers break from their tradition to move up, they tried to do an even more bold and dramatic trade up. Team sources say the Steelers were in discussions to move all the way to the third-overall pick with the Jets, and sources believe that if Pittsburgh had been able to do that deal, its pick would have been LSU linebacker Devin White, who went fifth overall to Tampa Bay. 

The Steelers were essentially lowballing the Jets on the offer and not giving up anything close to what it take to move from 20th overall to third overall. New York has a lot of holes on its roster and it was interested in trading down, but they weren't going to give the pick away. The exact offer was not explained by sources, but Pittsburgh was said to be offering something like a second- and third-round pick. Two years ago, similar massive jumps made by the Chiefs and Texans required the next year's first-round pick, and last year, that same price tag was required when New Orleans did a big leap in a trade up with Green Bay. 

The Steelers wanted to come out of the draft with either Devin White or Devin Bush and ultimately they were able to find a partner in Denver.
 

<li> Sources say the Jets would have considered a cornerback had they traded down to the 20th pick with Pittsburgh. New York would like to add more cornerback talent and a lot of the top cornerbacks slipped out of the first round with only Georgia's DeAndre Baker going to the Giants in the opening night of the draft. Corner is a position the Jets could target tonight, and trading into the second round from their third-round pick is in consideration for general manager Mike Maccagnan.
 

<li> The Seahawks have been wheeling and dealing this week with adding a first-round pick for veteran defensive end Frank Clark, trading down with the Packers, and moving down with the Giants. Seattle also almost traded down again, as sources said that the Carolina Panthers almost moved back into the first round for the Seahawks pick at 29 overall. 

Carolina is believed to be targeting some offensive line help, and there were some linemen who fell lower than expected in Florida's Jawaan Taylor, Oklahoma's Cody Ford, and Texas A&M's Erik McCoy. Tonight, the Panthers could be on the move going up in the second round for one of them or Ole Miss left tackle Greg Little. 

Seattle, meanwhile, decided to pass on the deal to take TCU defensive end L.J. Collier, which was surprising because many teams have him graded as a mid-rounder so Seattle could have moved back to the Panthers second-round pick and almost certainly would still have landed Collier.
