Advance Scouts High on Kentucky QB Will Levis

The NFL is a quarterback-driven league, and there are always plenty of teams in need of a franchise signal-caller. The 2022 NFL Draft was a weak year in terms of quarterback talent, but NFL advance scouts are optimistic that the 2023 NFL Draft could be better. They have high grades on star quarterbacks in Alabama's Bryce Young and Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, but just behind them, they also have a high grade on Kentucky quarterback Will Levis. Some advance scouts had Levis rated eighth overall on their board for 2023 NFL Draft prospects.

Levis started out his collegiate career at Penn State before transferring to Kentucky to play for offensive coordinator Liam Coen in 2021. Even though Levis did not get to campus until mid-summer of 2021, he quickly established himself as the program's starter during training camp and went on to have an impressive debut season. On the year, Levis completed 66 percent of his passes for 2,826 yards, 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He added nine touchdowns on the ground as well and was a hard runner who showed the toughness to stay on the field.

The 6-foot-3, 232-pound Levis has good size and a powerful arm to go along with his functional mobility. Cutting down on the interceptions will be key for Levis in 2022, but helping him will be an anticipated improved receiving corps, despite the loss of wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson to the NFL. If Levis builds on his 2021 season, he could rise into being a high first-round prospect and in the discussion with Young and Stroud to be the first quarterback taken in the 2023 NFL Draft.
