Scouts think Jalen Carter is better than Davis, Wyatt

Led by a legendary defense, Georgia won its first National Championship since 1980 last season, and the program had some elite prospects for the NFL on its defensive front. Mammoth nose tackle Jordan Davis got a lot of media attention, and fellow tackle Devonte Wyatt received acclaim as well. Both went in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, with Davis going in the top half and Wyatt going in the 20s. However, some broadcasters hinted that teammate defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who is still a Bulldog, was even better than those two. Carter flashed dynamic ability while rotating with those star veterans in 2021, and some NFL scouts who have been through Georgia training camp practices, they say believe Carter is a better prospect than either Davis or Wyatt was.
"Jalen is a better player than Davis or Wyatt," said an AFC area scout. "[Carter] is really good and should be a top pick."
Across 2021 in a backup role, Carter recorded 37 tackles and three sacks. The 6-foot-3, 310-pounder showed a serious skill set with upside to develop.
Entering the 2022 season, Carter is one of the top prospects for the 2023 NFL Draft. Some advance scouts have him with the second-highest preseason grade, behind only Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson. If Carter stays consistent with his play while taking on a big work load as a junior, he could end up being one of the first players selected in the 2023 NFL Draft.
