Strengths: Highly productive and consistent Sneaky athletic Has an intriguing second gear in open field Savvy route runner Understands how to set up corners Simply doesn't drop the football - period Very good sideline awareness Nice footwork Changes speeds, uses head fakes, dips hips - does the little things as a receiver Comes back to the football and presents a window Very competitive and fearless Great Y.A.C. receiver Love his hand-eye coordination Terrific intangibles Highly underrated skill set
Weaknesses: Lacks elite vertical speed Might struggle against upper-echelon corners in press man Average size Not very good on jump balls Poor run blocker
Summary: Don't ask me why Andre Roberts isn't a shoe-in for the second round - I have no idea - he should be. Roberts possesses a lot of talent and should be a very productive receiver in a West Coast offense at the next level. Roberts is exactly what you look for as a No. 2 receiver because he's extremely reliable, competitive and maximizes Y.A.C. Roberts was easily the best receiver at the Senior Bowl and he followed that up with a great Combine. Obviously, playing against inferior competition in college isn't a major concern. Some team will get a steal in the third round. Roberts is my No. 5 rated receiver in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Player Comparison: Derrick Mason. I don't expect Roberts to be a superstar, but like Mason, I expect him to be very productive and consistent in the NFL. I also see a lot of Greg Jennings in Roberts, but I'll be conservative with this comparison.
