Strengths: Very big frame Great bulk and strength Elite blocker; very physical Good hands at LOS to get off jam High points football at apex Difficult to bring down; strong runner Uses body to shield opponents from ball Willing to go over the middle
Weaknesses: Extremely poor route runner Too straight up when going into breaks; doesn't sell Struggles to separate Below average speed Inconsistent hands Loses focus Lacks deep speed Lacks agility Unimpressive vision after catch Limited upside
Summary: I just don't see a natural receiver whatsoever when I put on tape of Thomas, who is considering declaring for the 2010 NFL Draft as a junior after his big season. He lacks speed and there is simply too much development needed to warrant a high second-round pick. Don't buy the hype. Thomas is a projected third-to-fourth-round pick.
Player Comparison: Michael Clayton. Clayton occasionally loses focus and lacks the speed to be a playmaker in the NFL; both set the tone as run blockers.
