Strengths: Good height and outstanding bulk Highly athletic with great speed Throws a smooth ball - tight spiral More accurate than you'd think Great arm strength - throws with outstanding velocity Puts nice touch on the ball when he has to Comfortable throwing on the run Very elusive in the pocket Impressive physical skill set
Weaknesses: Release could be more compact - slight windup but nothing overly detrimental Very shaky footwork Lacks experience - one-year starter Can't read coverage Comes from zone-read spread offense Inconsistent decision-maker Lacks an understanding and maturity of the passing game Raw prospect and needs a couple years of development
Summary: Jarrett Brown is the ultimate developmental quarterback. He possesses the prototypical physical tools you want in a quarterback, but he lacks basic understandings of a pro-style system. In a quarterback class lacking depth, some team is going to draft Brown anywhere from the late second round to the early fourth round, and try to develop him into a starting quarterback. I think he is a third-round talent, but I wouldn't draft him as a franchise quarterback - he needs serious development on the bench.
Player Comparison: Tarvaris Jackson. Jackson has been a developmental quarterback in Minnesota with elite physical gifts. I think Brown is more accurate, so his career could pan out differently than Jackson's.
