Strengths:
  • Athletic and agile
  • Long arms
  • Burst off snap
  • Creates turnovers
  • Versatile
  • Well rounded

    Weaknesses:
  • Lacking elite speed and strength
  • Not a proven pass rusher
  • Needs to improve tackling consistency
  • Overruns plays too often
  • Only average instincts
  • Hesitant run defender

Summary: Akeem Ayers is an interesting prospect. He has versatility and experience at different positions. However, while is frame says outside linebacker in a 3-4, he is probably best suited inside in that scheme or on the strong side in a 4-3 at linebacker. Some team might want him to add weight and play defensive end in their 4-3. Better yet, teams running a hybrid front might be intrigued with Ayers.
