Strengths:
  • Athletic fit for zone blocking scheme
  • Agile with good footwork
  • Lateral mobility
  • Changes directions well
  • Quick off snap
  • Great run blocker
  • Gets to the second level
  • Intelligent; good awareness
  • Versatile, possible center
  • 47 starts
  • Leadership qualities

    Weaknesses:
  • Still needs to add weight and get stronger
  • Vulnerable against big nose tackles
  • Can be pushed back
  • Prone to lunging in space
  • Not a great pass blocker

Summary: Rodney Hudson brings a lot to the table. Right now his skills are perfect for a zone blocking scheme. He spent four years starting in the ACC, including some work at center and tackle. The experience at center could come in handy because he is undersized to stay at guard and could change positions. He has added weight, but has to show NFL teams it is going to translate on the field if he stays at guard.
