College Football and ESPN have been doing this for while now where they have a QB who plays for a major program , wins a lot of games, and or a Heisman trophy and they project them as a number 1 pick in the draft.

I mean we saw this with Matt Lienart, Vince Young , Tim Tebow , Johnny Manziel , RG3 even to a lesser degree Cardale Jones a couple of yrs ago where ESPN falls in love with a college player because he plays for a big program , wins a lot of games , and puts up big numbers. What they fail to understand is that you don't take wins with you , or stats , or trophies , what you take to the next level is arm talent, accuracy , anticipation , mobility , reading coverages none of that has to do with how many games you win in college.  Most of the best college teams win due to having stacked rosters full of 5 star recruits who dominate there posistion hence why most great QB's don't come out of USC, Florida, Alabama ,Ohio st , it's because the talent mismatch in college usually inflates the performance of said QB, I mean Tim Tebow put up Aaron Rodgers numbers in college and so did so many draft bust that ESPN has overhyped.

The latest prospect to be overhyped by ESPN , is none other than Deshaun Watson , many of the draft niks and anaylayst are in love with him and think he should be the first pick in the draft and the first QB taken off the board , most of this is due to not only incompetence but also laziness because they don't do due diligence to watch everybody prospect in the draft. If they had watched every prospect closely this season they wouldn't gather than Deshaun Watson not only shouldn't be taken with the first pick in the draft , he shouldn't be taken in the first round, they would see he's very limited as a passer , they would see he aims his throws , he doesn't always set his feet , he often sails the ball and overthrows WR , he can't read coverage , he doesn't take snaps under center , he has no velocity he can only make about 3 throws on the field , he plays the game purely off instincts he doesn't have a natural feel for the QB posistion.

Now what I see is People talk about his brilliant performance in the playoff games in particular Alabama but a couple of things

1. A QB by the name of Johnny Manziel once upon a time lit up Saban's defense .

2. Alabama was so limited Offensively , where over the course of the game defense got worn out and Clemson ran about 100 plays and just took advantage it wasn't a fair fight at all but if you notice in the first half when Alabama's defense wasn't tired they pretty much nullified Watson and they exposed his limitations as a passer

I say all that to say GMs don't  the listen to ESPN over the last 10 yrs they have steered many organizations in the wrong direction , let the names RG3, Vince Young , Matt Lienart , Tim Tebow , Johnny Manziel be a cautionary tale.
