1 Josh Allen QB

This pick had to be a QB in my opinion and I liked Allen the best in this draft. I question how Baker Mayfield will transition to the NFL game given his size, speed, and lack of success from recent Big 12 QBs.

4 Minkah Fitzpatrick DB

Fitzpatrick is a play making DB who the Browns could use as a slot corner and blitzer. Ward is good but I like Fitzpatrick better because of his versatility and more years of production in college.

33 Josh Jackson CB

I was very surprised Jackson went in the second round. I think he will be a steal much like Desmond King in the fifth round last year. The Browns need CBs. The Browns do need a LT but there are questions whether Corbett will be a LT in the NFL and I like Jackson better.

35 Nick Chubb RB

No complaints with this pick. I think Chubb is a great fit for the Browns as he will probably split carries this year and he was used to that in college.

64 (No trade down) Mark Andrews TE

I really like Andrews and think he will be a good receiving TE in the NFL.

114 (No trade up) Shaquem Griffin LB

The Browns need help on special teams and I think Griffin could really help and provide depth at LB.

150 Jamarco Jones OT

LT competition is needed.

175 Deon Cain WR

More WR depth needed.

188 Equanimeous St. Brown WR

I was surprised he went in the sixth round but St. Brown has a lot of potential and more WR depth is needed.

Disclaimer

This is a hypothetical of what I would have done. Hindsight is always 20-20. The only pick that could be done for sure is Josh Allen at 1. Given a different pick at 1 other teams may have picked differently and thus my scenario may not be possible.

The players I really wanted the Browns to get off this list were Allen, Fitzpatrick, Chubb, Jackson, and Andrews. I think these guys will have good NFL careers.

As for the Browns their actual draft is hard to grade right now. They had 2 top 4 picks but they probably didn’t get the best QB or best player in the draft. When we look at this draft in 5 years we will undoubtedly be saying look at who the Browns could’ve had at this pick and this pick. This happens every draft where the fans get excited but 5 years later we are questioning the selection of certain players and it's a long list. The one great thing the Browns did with their draft picks was trade a 2018 4th and a 2019 7th round pick for Jarvis Landry. It is hard to find a player like him in those rounds.
