Cleveland Browns 2019 Draft Plan

Rd 2 49 Chauncey Gardner Johnson DB Taylor Rapp S Johnathan Abram S Mack Wilson LB

The Browns traded Jabrill Peppers, waived Derrick Kindred, and Brien Boddy-Calhoun left for the Texans. They did add Eric Murray and signed Morgan Burnett but more secondary depth is needed. I have listed 3 safety options who I liked what I saw from them in college. Hopefully one of them will be available for the Browns to take in the second round. I have also listed Mack Wilson as I believe LB depth should also be addressed in this draft, due to the release of Jamie Collins and the injury history of some of the LBs currently on the team.

Rd 3 80 Vosean Joseph LB Joe Jackson DE

I liked what I saw from Joseph in college and as mentioned above LB depth should be addressed. The Browns traded Emmanuel Ogbah and D line depth should be addressed. I would expect the Browns to give Chad Thomas some playing time this year but I still like the value Jackson would provide for the Browns here.

Rd 4 119 Chuma Edoga OT Joe Jackson DE

The Browns resigned Greg Robinson but only for 1 year. I thought Desmond Harrison did an okay job given the circumstances last year and is worth keeping around. However, the Browns should still make it a priority to add more o line depth and especially to the LT position. Jackson is explained above.

Rd 5 144 Daylon Mack DT

A 5 star recruit out of high school. May not make the roster but he has some upside.

Rd 5 155 Cole Tracy K Austin Seibert K

Maybe too early for a kicker but the point is someone needs to be brought in to challenge for the kicker job and stabilize the position. I’m tired of seeing the Browns lose games due to poor special teams play. Robbie Gould has said he would like to be traded from the 49ers. The Browns should definitely be willing to offer a day 3 pick for him.

Rd 5 170 Jamal Davis EDGE

Could provide depth and I like that he went to Akron

Rd 6 189 Keelan Doss WR

I liked his senior bowl game performance and he could be a contender for the number 5 or 6 WR spot and help on special teams.

Rd 7 221 C.J. Conrad TE

Late round upside potential type pick. Not a bad idea to bring a 4th TE into training camp to challenge for the third TE role.

I think this would be a solid draft for the Browns. I believe they can get 2 immediate contributors and a few players who can provide depth and can help fill out the roster. I think their needs and goals are pretty clear. Adding secondary and LB depth is a top priority. Add a kicker via the draft, trade, or free agency. Add depth at positions deemed necessary and defensive line and offensive line makes sense to me.
