To the average fan Stanford RB Bryce Love seems like an all-world RB who dazzled the eyes of many by rushing for 2,118 yards and 18 touchdowns this past season, but to a scout his flaws far outweigh his energizing long runs and leave you questioning if he can translate to the NFL. First off Love weighs a modest 200 pounds to go with a history of injuries and a heavy workload at the college level, this alone bares the question how long will he be able to withstand the rigors of playing in the NFL. A healthy NFL back can give you about 4-7 years of good play before regressing, in Love's case can he give you more than 3? Now to dissect Love's game the first thing every one notices is his big play ability, but his vision is poor which is essential for a one cut homerun hitter like he is, his feet behind the line of scrimmage are choppy which lead to a lot of negative plays. If he does not have the ability to find a second hole how is he going to break off these long runs in the NFL, not to mention everyone has the ability to close really quick on him. It seems he has the mentality every play has to be a big play even if it's not there, that alone can get you cut from a team and hurts your value. So the point i'm trying to make with Love is if he does not have the strength for a power run scheme and does not have the vision for a one cut or zone scheme, how is he going to be this electric player in the NFL. The only way I see him making a impact is when he has a lot of space and can make a man miss, so are you really going to use a 1st or 2nd round pick on a small injury prone back who can't create for himself? Love's style does not translate to a workhorse back in today's NFL.This is my take on the over-hyped Bryce Love.
