This is a 2002 NFL Draft Re-Mock, just in case you missed the big blue letters up top. I'm going back to 2002 and re-distributing all of the 2002 NFL Draft prospects to all of the teams in the 2002 NFL Draft order. This 2002 NFL Draft Re-Mock is based on how these players have performed in their careers, as well as the needs each team had back in 2002.

17. Oakland Raiders: Bart Scott, ILB, Southern Illinois
    Actual 2002 NFL Draft Pick: Phillip Buchanon, CB
    My 2002 NFL Mock Draft Pick: None (Traded Up)
    
    Ignoring 40s for a second, the Raiders needed a replacement for Greg Biekert. They brought in Napoleon Harris, but Bart Scott would have been the better choice.
    
    
18. Atlanta Falcons: Antonio Bryant, WR, Pittsburgh

    Back in 2002, Super Bowl receivers Tony Martin and Terance Mathis were on their way out, and they were replaced by Brian Finneran and Shawn Jefferson. Antonio Bryant would have been a better weapon for Dog Killer.
    
    
19. Denver Broncos: David Thornton, OLB, North Carolina

    At 35, Bill Romanowski was playing his final season in Denver. David Thornton would have been a huge upgrade for their linebacking corps.

    The Packers were so desperate to upgrade middle linebacker Bernardo Harris that they brought in 37-year-old Hardy Nickerson. This all could have been averted with Larry Foote.
    
    
    
    
    
21. New England Patriots: James Harrison, DE/OLB, Kent State

    This is amazing - except for the Texans, there haven't been any 3-4 teams on the board until now. James Harrison is by far the best player available, and the Patriots would be happy to take him, even though they have Mike Vrabel and Willie McGinest in their prime.

    With defensive tackles like Shane Burton and Steve Martin, it's no wonder the Jets were 28th versus the rush in 2001.

    Josh Reed? Guess back in 2002, I didn't understand Al Davis' infatuation with 40 times.
    
    Not sure if Randy McMichael has the 40 that Al Davis loves, but it doesn't matter because I'm making the pick here. Roland Williams? Upgrade needed.

    I mocked Andre Gurode to the Saints seven years ago, and I'm sticking to it. Jerry Fontenot, New Orleans' center in 2001, was 35.
    
    
26. Philadelphia Eagles: Lito Sheppard, CB, Florida

    My 2002 NFL Mock Draft Pick: DeShaun Foster, RB
    
    Lito Sheppard's relationship with Andy Reid got pretty ugly toward the end, but he had a number of effective seasons in Philadelphia. He was always overrated - Sheldon Brown deserved to go to the Pro Bowl instead of him - but Sheppard did a solid job taking over for Troy Vincent.
    
    
27. San Francisco 49ers: Javon Walker, WR, Florida State

    49er fans may scoff at this pick because Javon Walker really sucks at life right now, but Walker was a great receiver for a number of years. Can you imagine Terrell Owens and Walker playing across one another? Owens would still make fun of Jeff Garcia's sexuality, while Walker simply wouldn't care either way.
    
    
28. Seattle Seahawks: Raheem Brock, DE, Temple

    With Michael Sinclair, Lamar King and John Hilliard at defensive end, an upgrade here was a major need. Forunately, the Seahawks drafted Jerramy "The Matchup Nightmare" Stevens as their pass-dropping tight end.

    Levi Jones hasn't been able to stay healthy often, but when he's played at 100 percent, he's been great. Chicago needed an upgrade over Blake Brockermeyer at left tackle, which is why it grabbed Marc Colombo at No. 29 in the actual 2002 NFL Draft.
    
    
30. Pittsburgh Steelers: Phillip Buchanon, CB, Miami

    The Steelers didn't really have many needs at this point, but one area they struggled with in the early part of this decade was corner depth.

    It feels weird to have the Rams draft this low. Maybe Steve Spagnuolo will make us all feel weird again in a couple of years.
    
    The Rams drafted an outside linebacker in 2002 for a reason. It was their biggest need. Let's help them out and try to prevent the decline of the franchise once known as the Greatest Show on Turf.
    
    
32. Washington Redskins: Deion Branch, WR, Louisville

    This was Steve Spurrier's first year. He decided to draft Patrick Ramsey, and sign Shane Matthews, Chris Doering, Jacquez Green and Danny Wuerffel.
    
    And some think I don't have the right to criticize NFL general managers because they clearly know something I don't. Well, just because you're making personnel decisions in the league doesn't mean you know anything. This is all the proof you need right here.
