The order of this 2013 NFL Mock Draft is loosely based on my 2012 NFL Power Rankings.
-
Miami Dolphins: Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor
The Dolphins may have found their quarterback in Ryan Tannehill, but he's going to struggle as long as guys like Brian Hartline, Davone Bess and Legedu Naanee are vying for the No. 1 receiver job.
Pick change; previously Marquess Wilson, WR
-
Miami Dolphins: Jonathan Cooper, G, North Carolina
The Dolphins need to fix the right side of their offensive line so Ryan Tannehill has more time in the pocket to overthrow his receivers downfield. John Jerry should be upgraded.
Pick change; previously Kawann Short, DT
-
Jacksonville Jaguars: D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama
Right tackle Cameron Bradfield made the Vikings' Brian Robison look like an All-Pro defensive end in the season opener. The Jaguars will want to protect their new quarterback.
Pick change; previously Jordan Poyer, CB
-
St. Louis Rams: Michael Buchanan, DE, Illinois
Jeff Fisher loves having defensive line depth, but his team is currently lacking that right now. Robert Quinn's play also needs to improve.
-
Cincinnati Bengals: Carrington Byndom, CB, Texas
Nate Clements will be a free agent after this season, while Terence Newman won't be around much longer. The Bengals will need a more permanent solution to go along with Leon Hall and Dre Kirkpatrick.
-
Carolina Panthers: Jesse Williams, NT, Alabama
I was told not to mock Fletcher Cox to the Panthers by a reliable source because they were satisfied with their current group of defensive tackles. Based on what happened with Andre Brown on Thursday night, I highly doubt they'll feel the same way in April.
Pick change; previously D.J. Fluker, OT
-
Tennessee Titans: Dallas Thomas, OT/G, Tennessee
Will the Titans finally upgrade the interior of their offensive line, or are they content with Chris Johnson gaining just 1.4 yards per carry?
Pick change; previously Jonathan Cooper, G
-
Kansas City Chiefs: Corey Lemonier, DE/OLB, Auburn
The Chiefs don't have much depth behind Tamba Hali and Justin Houston - as they discovered in the Week 1 loss to Atlanta - so they could spend an early 2013 NFL Draft pick on a rush linebacker.
-
New York Jets: Sean Porter, DE/OLB, Texas A&M
The Jets didn't address the rush linebacker position this spring for some strange reason. Aaron Maybin has done nothing thus far in 2012 after finishing on a strong note last year.
-
Washington Redskins: Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
The Redskins absolutely need to do something about the safety position. Sam Bradford was able to look like a Pro Bowler against them.
Pick change; previously Shayne Skov, ILB
-
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: William Gholston, DE, Michigan State
Da'Quan Bowers tore his Achilles in early May, while Michael Bennett will be a free agent in March. The defensive end position will have to be addressed next offseason.
-
Cincinnati Bengals: Tony Jefferson, S, Oklahoma
The Bengals had a big need at safety, but they didn't address the position until the fifth round this past April. They'll put more effort into finding an upgrade the following offseason because they won't survive with Reggie Nelson and the recently benched Taylor Mays as their starters.
-
Chicago Bears: Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon State
Every single corner on the Bears' roster is entering either free agency or their contract year, including Charles Tillman, who will be owed $8.5 million in 2013. Depth will be needed.
Pick change; previously Dallas Thomas, G/OT
-
Minnesota Vikings: C.J. Mosley, ILB, Alabama
The Vikings can do a lot better than Jasper Brinkley at middle linebacker. He's a pretty big liability on their defense.
Pick change; previously Kenny Vaccaro, S
-
Philadelphia Eagles: Robert Lester, S, Alabama
Kurt Coleman beat out Jaiquwan Jarrett, who was recently waived. Coleman's not any good, despite his two picks of Brandon Weeden, so the Eagles will have to look for another solution.
-
Denver Broncos: Shayne Skov, ILB, Stanford
Nate Irving, chosen in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft, has been a disappointment thus far because he hasn't been able to pass the mediocre Joe Mays at middle linebacker. D.J. Williams, meanwhile, will be due $6 million in a walk year.
Pick change; previously C.J. Mosley, ILB
-
Detroit Lions: Travis Frederick, G/C, Wisconsin
Travis Frederick can play multiple positions on the offensive line, including center. Detroit's current center, the declining Dominic Raiola, will be due $4.05 million in a 2013 walk year.
Pick change; previously Shawn Williams, S
-
Dallas Cowboys: Margus Hunt, DE/DT, SMU
The Cowboys had the option of picking J.J. Watt at No. 9 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. They went with Tyron Smith, who was great in his rookie campaign, but they were hurting at the defensive end position as a consequence.
-
Buffalo Bills: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
The Bills drafted a quarterback in the first round, so they'll need to find a weapon for him. Steve Johnson is currently the only downfield play-maker on Buffalo's roster.
Pick change; previously Kenny Stills, WR
-
San Diego Chargers: Wes Horton, DE/OLB, USC
The Chargers just spent an early pick on a rush linebacker (Melvin Ingram), so why would they do that again? Well, Shaun Phillips will be a 32-year-old free agent next March, so San Diego will need a complement for Ingram.
-
Seattle Seahawks: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
The Seahawks' receiving corps really needs to be upgraded. Sidney Rice is constantly laboring through injuries, while Braylon Edwards can no longer get any sort of separation. Golden Tate? Meh, maybe if he can pull of the Touchception every week.
Pick change; previously Jelani Jenkins, OLB
-
Arizona Cardinals: E.J. Manuel, QB, Florida State
The Cardinals have to take a shot on a quarterback early in the 2013 NFL Draft, as neither Kevin Kolb nor John Skelton is the answer.
Pick change; previously Landry Jones, QB
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: James Gayle, DE, Virginia Tech
James Harrison may not be back next year. He'll be due $6.6 million as a 35-year-old who can't even get onto the field right now. The Steelers may spend an early pick on a rush linebacker.
-
New England Patriots: Marquess Wilson, WR, Washington State
With Deion Branch on and off the team and Wes Welker seemingly on his way out, the Patriots suddenly have to find some new receivers for Tom Brady.
Pick change; previously Travis Frederick, G/C
-
Green Bay Packers: Knile Davis, RB, Arkansas
James Starks has yet to prove that he can stay healthy, while Alex Green is coming off an ACL tear. Cedric Benson is obviously not a long-term answer, so the Packers may address the running back position early in the 2013 NFL Draft.
-
San Francisco 49ers: Khaled Holmes, C, USC
The 49ers could use some help on the offensive line. Khaled Holmes could eventually take over for Jonathan Goodwin, who will be 34 in December.
-
Baltimore Ravens: Gerald Hodges, LB, Penn State
The Ravens wanted Dont'a Hightower, but the Patriots moved ahead of them and stole him. Maybe Ozzie Newsome will find his successor for Ray Lewis next April.
-
New York Giants: Ricky Wagner, OT, Wisconsin
The Giants really need to bolster their offensive line now that Eli Manning has entered the second half of his career. They don't want him to suffer the same fate as his brother. They cannot going into the 2013 season with any combination of Will Beatty, Sean Locklear or David Diehl as their starting tackles.
-
Atlanta Falcons: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
More help for the Falcons' defensive line. Peria Jerry just can't seem to live up to his potential because of his knee problems.
Pick change; previously John Simon, DE
-
Houston Texans: Shawn Williams, S, Georgia
Glover Quin is a free agent this upcoming offseason. It'll be difficult to retain him with Connor Barwin also hitting the market.
Pick change; previously Oday Aboushi, OT
