The order of this 2013 NFL Mock Draft is loosely based on my 2012 NFL Power Rankings.
-
Cleveland Browns: Larry Warford, G, Kentucky
The Browns took Matt Barkley with their first pick, so they'll need to find some help for their new franchise signal-caller. Some interior offensive line upgrades are needed.
-
Miami Dolphins: Johnny Adams, CB, Michigan State
The Dolphins have an extra second-day pick because they dealt Vontae Davis to the Colts, so they should probably use one of them on a replacement.
-
Indianapolis Colts: Oday Aboushi, OT, Virginia
Winston Justice has actually played surprisingly well this year at right tackle, but can that continue over 16 games? I'm not so sure. If not, the Colts will need to improve Andrew Luck's pass protection.
Pick change; previously Chase Thomas, DE/OLB
-
Jacksonville Jaguars: Jonathan Brown, OLB, Illinois
Daryl Smith is one of the most underrated players in the NFL, but he'll be a free agent in March. The Jaguars will need to bring in someone to replace him if he leaves.
Pick change; previously E.J. Manuel, QB
-
St. Louis Rams: Joseph Fauria, TE, UCLA
Lance Kendricks had an issue with drops as a rookie. He may resolve that in 2012, but if he doesn't, the Rams could be looking for a new tight end. Remember, this regime has no allegiance to Kendricks.
-
Oakland Raiders: John Simon, DE, Ohio State
The Raiders really miss Kamerion Wimbley, as Matt Shaughnessy struggles to put any pressure on quarterbacks - even when he's battling undrafted rookie free agent left tackles.
Pick change; previously Alex Hurst, OT
-
New Orleans Saints: Alex Hurst, OT, LSU
There are many reasons why the Saints are struggling offensively, one of which is the poor play of the offensive tackles. Jermon Bushrod also happens to be a free agent.
Pick change; previously Mike Glennon, QB
-
San Francisco 49ers: Chase Thomas, DE/OLB, Stanford
The 49ers are pretty much stacked everywhere, but they don't have much depth at rush linebacker.
Pick change; previously Dion Jordan, DE/OLB
-
Tennessee Titans: Andre Ellington, RB, Clemson
Based on the way he's running the football, you'd think Chris Johnson wants to retire and join Dancing with the Stars. The Titans need to bring in someone to push him.
-
Kansas City Chiefs: Sylvester Williams, DE/DT, North Carolina
Glenn Dorsey will be a free agent in March, so it appears as though his disappointing tenure in Kansas City is coming to an end.
-
New York Jets: Terry Hawthorne, CB, Illinois
This pick serves a couple of purposes. First, it protects the Jets just in case something goes wrong with Darrelle Revis' recovery. And second, it gives them a possible replacement in 2014 and beyond. Revis will be a free agent after 2013 and cannot be franchise tagged.
Pick change; previously Terry Hawthorne, CB
-
Washington Redskins: Kenny Stills, WR, Oklahoma
Robert Griffin needs someone to throw to besides Pierre Garcon, as he quickly discovered when his receivers dropped key passes in St. Louis.
Pick change; previously Aaron Dobson, WR
-
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Arthur Brown, LB, Kansas State
The Buccaneers pretty much played nickel throughout the opener because they don't have any sort of depth at linebacker beyond Mason Foster and Lavonte David.
Pick change; previously Kevin Reddick, LB
-
Cincinnati Bengals: Dion Jordan, DE/OLB, Oregon
The Bengals lost Keith Rivers this past offseason. Manny Lawson could be gone next spring because he'll be a free agent. Dion Jordan is a good fit for this defense. Of course, this all depends on how Dontay Moch is progressing.
Pick change; previously Jonathan Brown, OLB
-
Miami Dolphins: Bacarri Rambo, S, Georgia
More help for the secondary, as the Dolphins could use someone to challenge Chris Clemons at safety.
Pick change; previously Duke Williams, S
-
Minnesota Vikings: Micah Hyde, CB, Iowa
Remember that ridiculous speculation that the Vikings would take Morris Claiborne No. 3 overall because it filled a bigger need? Well, all they did to satisfy that was a third-round selection on Josh Robinson. Minnesota still could be looking for corner help next spring.
Pick change; previously Arthur Brown, ILB
-
Philadelphia Eagles: Omoregie Uzzi, G, Georgia Tech
The Eagles need help on the offensive line. Their quarterback never understands where the blitz is coming from, but it's not helping that some members of the front can't block.
-
Denver Broncos: Aaron Dobson, WR, Marshall
The Broncos have an overrated receiving corps. Eric Decker produces in fantasy, but he drops way too many passes.
Pick change; previously Terry Hawthorne, CB
-
Detroit Lions: Leon McFadden, CB, San Diego State
Something that all of the injuries has revealed is that the Lions really lack depth in the secondary. They'll have to address that.
-
Dallas Cowboys: Graham Pocic, C, Illinois
The interior of Dallas' offensive line is an abomination. The front office actually found two downgrades at guard this offseason, while center Phil Costa is a sieve.
-
Buffalo Bills: Cornellius Carradine, DE, Florida State
The Bills need an upgrade over bust signing Mario Williams. Too soon?
Pick change; previously Datone Jones, DE
-
San Diego Chargers: Da'Rick Rogers, WR, Tennessee Tech
The Chargers lost Vincent Jackson. They could also lose Malcom Floyd next offseason because he's a free agent. Robert Meachem was a waste of money. A receiver is definitely needed.
Pick change; previously Mike Gillislee, RB
-
Seattle Seahawks: Kevin Reddick, LB, North Carolina
Another second-day linebacker for Seattle. The Seahawks re-signed Leroy Hill this offseason, but that was only for a year. They may find someone else if they can't bring him back again.
Pick change; previously Tyrann Mathieu, CB
-
Arizona Cardinals: Stepfan Taylor, RB, Stanford
Chris Wells can't stay healthy, while Ryan Williams has barely shown anything coming off patellar tendon surgery. The Cardinals will have to find a new running back unless Williams' performance in the second half of the Eagle game wasn't a mirage.
Pick change; previously Montee Ball, RB
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: Marcus Davis, WR, Virginia Tech
If the Steelers can't re-sign Mike Wallace to a long-term deal, they'll be searching for a receiver early in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Pick change; previously Micah Hyde, CB
-
New England Patriots: Duke Williams, S, Nevada
Steve Gregory has predictably been a bust signing thus far. Patrick Chung, meanwhile, will be a free agent this offseason, so if he walks, the Patriots will have a dire need at safety next to Tavon Wilson.
Pick change; previously Marcus Davis, WR
-
Green Bay Packers: Nico Johnson, ILB, Alabama
A.J. Hawk probably won't be back next season (though I said the same thing a year ago), so the Packers will need to find some depth at inside linebacker.
-
San Francisco 49ers: Matt Elam, S, Florida
Dashon Goldson was slapped with a franchise tag this prior offseason. The 49ers will need a replacement if they can't sign him to a long-term deal.
Pick change; previously Bacarri Rambo, S
-
Baltimore Ravens: Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana Tech
The Ravens don't have the greatest depth at receiver, so they may use a mid-round selection to fix that.
-
New York Giants: Mike Glennon, QB, N.C. State
It'd be nice to see the Giants develop a young quarterback. They can do better than David Carr as Eli Manning's backup.
Pick change; previously Zac Dysert, QB
-
Atlanta Falcons: Christine Michael, RB, Texas A&M
Michael Turner is done. He looked like he was running in quicksand this preseason, so he won't be on the roster much longer.
-
Houston Texans: Michael Mauti, ILB, Penn State
The leader of Penn State's defense would look good in the middle of Wade Phillips' defense.
