2013 NFL Mock Draft: Round 2

The order of this 2013 NFL Mock Draft is loosely based on my 2012 NFL Power Rankings.

33. Miami Dolphins: Jonathan Cooper, G, North Carolina
    The Dolphins need to fix the right side of their offensive line so Ryan Tannehill has more time in the pocket to overthrow his receivers downfield. John Jerry should be upgraded.
    
    
34. Jacksonville Jaguars: Brennan Williams, OT, North Carolina
    Right tackle Cameron Bradfield has not played well in limited action this year. The Jaguars will want to protect their new quarterback.

35. New York Jets: Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor
    The Jets are using Tim Tebow at receiver. Tim Tebow! No further explanation needed. The Jets absolutely have to upgrade one of the worst receiving corps in football.

36. Cincinnati Bengals: Carrington Byndom, CB, Texas
    Nate Clements will be a free agent after this season, while Terence Newman won't be around much longer. The Bengals will need a more permanent solution to go along with Leon Hall and Dre Kirkpatrick.
    
    
37. Tennessee Titans: Dallas Thomas, OT/G, Tennessee
    Will the Titans finally upgrade the interior of their offensive line, or are they content with Chris Johnson gaining just 3.2 yards per carry?
    
    
38. Kansas City Chiefs: Sean Porter, DE/OLB, Texas A&M
    The Chiefs don't have much depth behind Tamba Hali and Justin Houston - as they discovered in the Week 1 loss to Atlanta - so they could spend an early 2013 NFL Draft pick on a rush linebacker.

39. Miami Dolphins: Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon State
    The Dolphins have an extra second-day pick because they dealt Vontae Davis to the Colts, so they should probably use one of them on a replacement. Richard Marshall is not playing well.

40. Carolina Panthers: T.J. McDonald, S, USC
    I think we can all confirm that the real Hiro Nakamura can't stop time. Otherwise, he wouldn't have made so many terrible plays against the Falcons. The Panthers desperately need safety help, and T.J. McDonald is a steal at this juncture.

41. St. Louis Rams: Michael Buchanan, DE, Illinois
    Jeff Fisher loves having defensive line depth, but his team is currently lacking that right now. Robert Quinn's play also needs to improve.
    
    
42. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jesse Williams, NT, Alabama
    Gerald McCoy is having a fantastic season, but the Buccaneers need help next to him after dismissing Brian Price prior to the beginning of the season.

43. Buffalo Bills: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
    The Bills drafted a quarterback in the first round, so they'll need to find a weapon for him. Steve Johnson is currently the only downfield play-maker on Buffalo's roster.
    
    
44. Detroit Lions: Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
    More help for Detroit's beleaguered secondary. Amari Spievey desperately needs to be upgraded, while Louis Delmas can't seem to stay healthy.

45. Dallas Cowboys: Tony Jefferson, S, Oklahoma
    The Cowboys traded up for a cornerback in the 2012 NFL Draft, but they still need help in the secondary because their safety play is atrocious. Barry Church really needs to be upgraded.

46. Washington Redskins: C.J. Mosley, ILB, Alabama
    It depends on whether or not Keenan Robinson shows anything as a rookie - he hasn't played thus far - but the Redskins will really be hurting for depth if London Fletcher decides to walk away after this season. Fletcher is still playing relatively well, but he's taken a minor step backward this season.

47. Cincinnati Bengals: William Gholston, DE, Michigan State
    The Bengals have just two players who can consistently get to the quarterback: Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap (though Michael Johnson recently had a monstrous game). They'll have to add someone across from Dunlap, especially considering that both Johnson and Robert Geathers will be free agents in March.

48. Minnesota Vikings: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
    The Vikings have to add more talent to complement Christian Ponder. They need an upgrade across from Percy Harvin, as Jerome Simpson is way too inconsistent to be a No. 2 receiver.

49. Seattle Seahawks: D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama
    The Seahawks have seemed to give up on former first-round pick James Carpenter as a right tackle, as they've announced that they want him as their starting left guard when he returns from injury. This means that they'll have to address their big hole at right tackle.

50. Chicago Bears: Travis Frederick, G/C, Wisconsin
    The Bears obviously need to find multiple upgrades for their struggling offensive line. They obviously won't mind taking a lineman out of Wisconsin.

51. Denver Broncos: Shayne Skov, ILB, Stanford
    Nate Irving, chosen in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft, has been a disappointment thus far because he hasn't been able to pass the mediocre Joe Mays at middle linebacker. D.J. Williams, meanwhile, will be due $6 million in a walk year.
    
    
52. San Diego Chargers: Wes Horton, DE/OLB, USC
    The Chargers just spent an early pick on a rush linebacker (Melvin Ingram), so why would they do that again? Well, Shaun Phillips will be a 32-year-old free agent next March, so San Diego will need a complement for Ingram.
    
    
53. Philadelphia Eagles: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
    Demetress Bell is confirmed as a bust signing. He couldn't even beat out King Dunlap for the starting left tackle gig. If Jason Peters isn't making good progress coming off his Achilles, the Eagles might be desperate for a tackle next spring.

54. Arizona Cardinals: E.J. Manuel, QB, Florida State
    The Cardinals have to take a shot on a quarterback early in the 2013 NFL Draft, just in case this whole Kevin Kolb thing is a mirage.
    
    
    
    
    
55. Pittsburgh Steelers: Marquess Wilson, WR, Washington State
    If the Steelers can't re-sign Mike Wallace to a long-term deal, they'll be searching for a receiver early in the 2013 NFL Draft.

56. Green Bay Packers: Kenny Stills, WR, Oklahoma
    Greg Jennings will be a free agent in March. He's proven to be unreliable in terms of staying healthy, so the Packers may choose not to re-sign him. If so, they may target a receiver early in the 2013 NFL Draft.

57. San Francisco 49ers: Khaled Holmes, C, USC
    The 49ers could use some help on the offensive line. Khaled Holmes could eventually take over for Jonathan Goodwin, who will be 34 in December.
    
    
58. Baltimore Ravens: Gerald Hodges, LB, Penn State
    The Ravens wanted Dont'a Hightower, but the Patriots moved ahead of them and stole him. Maybe Ozzie Newsome will find his successor for Ray Lewis next April.
    
    
59. New England Patriots: Robert Lester, S, Alabama
    Steve Gregory has predictably been a bust signing thus far. Patrick Chung, meanwhile, will be a free agent this offseason, so if he walks, the Patriots will have a dire need at safety next to Tavon Wilson.

60. New York Giants: James Gayle, DE, Virginia Tech
    I imagine that Jerry Reese was crying in his sleep all offseason because he didn't get to add a pass-rusher in the 2012 NFL Draft. I'm sure he'll make amends next April.

61. Atlanta Falcons: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
    More help for the Falcons' defensive line. Peria Jerry just can't seem to live up to his potential because of his knee problems.

62. Houston Texans: Margus Hunt, DE/DT, SMU
    The Texans, with very few needs, can afford to take the best player available. Antonio Smith will be a free agent following the 2013 season, so Houston will need someone to step in starting in 2014.
