The order of this 2013 NFL Mock Draft is loosely based on my 2012 NFL Power Rankings.
-
Cleveland Browns: Larry Warford, G, Kentucky
The Browns took Matt Barkley with their first pick, so they'll need to find some help for their new franchise signal-caller. Some interior offensive line upgrades are needed.
-
Indianapolis Colts: Ricky Wagner, OT, Wisconsin
Winston Justice has actually played surprisingly well this year at right tackle, but can that continue over 16 games? I'm not so sure. If not, the Colts will need to improve Andrew Luck's pass protection.
Pick change; previously Oday Aboushi, OT
-
Jacksonville Jaguars: Jonathan Brown, OLB, Illinois
Daryl Smith is one of the most underrated players in the NFL, but he'll be a free agent in March. The Jaguars will need to bring in someone to replace him if he leaves.
-
New York Jets: Mike Glennon, QB, N.C. State
If the Jets don't go with a quarterback in the first round, they almost have to take a chance with one on Day 2 - unless, of course, Tim Tebow steps in and saves the day like he did for the Broncos last year.
Pick change; previously Terry Hawthorne, CB
-
Oakland Raiders: John Simon, DE, Ohio State
The Raiders really miss Kamerion Wimbley, as Matt Shaughnessy struggles to put any pressure on quarterbacks - even when he's battling undrafted rookie free agent left tackles.
-
Tennessee Titans: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
The Titans were interested in drafting a highly ranked cornerback at No. 20 a few months ago, but neither Stephon Gilmore nor Dre Kirkpatrick fell to them. Maybe they'll have more luck in the 2013 NFL Draft. Alterraun Verner will be entering his contract year in 2013, so Tennessee will need a new starter if it can't retain him.
Pick change; previously Andre Ellington, RB
-
Kansas City Chiefs: Sylvester Williams, DE/DT, North Carolina
Glenn Dorsey will be a free agent in March, so it appears as though his disappointing tenure in Kansas City is coming to an end.
-
Miami Dolphins: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
The Dolphins have three key free agents in March: Jake Long, Randy Starks and Sean Smith. Long will almost certainly be back, meaning either Starks or Smith will probably hit the road. If it's Starks, Miami will have to use an early selection on a defensive tackle.
Pick change; previously Johnny Adams, CB
-
New Orleans Saints: Oday Aboushi, OT, Virginia
There are many reasons why the Saints are struggling offensively, one of which is the poor play of the offensive tackles. Jermon Bushrod also happens to be a free agent.
Pick change; previously Alex Hurst, OT
-
San Francisco 49ers: Shawn Williams, S, Georgia
Dashon Goldson was slapped with a franchise tag this prior offseason. The 49ers will need a replacement if they can't sign him to a long-term deal.
Pick change; previously Chase Thomas, DE/OLB
-
St. Louis Rams: Joseph Fauria, TE, UCLA
Lance Kendricks had an issue with drops as a rookie. He may resolve that in 2012, but if he doesn't, the Rams could be looking for a new tight end. Remember, this regime has no allegiance to Kendricks.
-
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Arthur Brown, LB, Kansas State
The Buccaneers look like they have a keeper in Lavonte David, who has played very well as a rookie. Second-year Mason Foster is also solid. However, that's all Tampa has at linebacker. An upgrade is needed over Quincy Black.
-
Buffalo Bills: Tank Carradine, DE, Florida State
The Bills need an upgrade over bust signing Mario Williams. Too soon? Meh, maybe not. Both Williams and Mark Anderson have been huge busts thus far.
-
Detroit Lions: Graham Pocic, C/G, Illinois
Graham Pocic can play multiple positions on the offensive line, including center. Detroit's current center, the declining Dominic Raiola, will be due $4.05 million in a 2013 walk year.
Pick change; previously Leon McFadden, CB
-
Dallas Cowboys: Chase Thomas, DE/OLB, Stanford
Anthony Spencer will be a free agent in March. I don't envision the Cowboys giving him the long-term deal he covets because he's way too inconsistent, so they'll have to find a new pass-rusher across from DeMarcus Ware.
Pick change; previously Graham Pocic, C/G
-
Washington Redskins: Bacarri Rambo, S, Georgia
The Redskins absolutely need to do something about the safety position. Sam Bradford was able to look like a Pro Bowler against them.
Pick change; previously Kenny Stills, WR
-
Cincinnati Bengals: Andre Ellington, RB, Clemson
BenJarvus Green-Ellis is starting to fumble, which is terrible news for him because ball security was his only positive trait.
Pick change; previously Dion Jordan, DE/OLB
-
Minnesota Vikings: Michael Mauti, ILB, Penn State
The Vikings can do a lot better than Jasper Brinkley at middle linebacker. He's a pretty big liability on their defense.
Pick change; previously Micah Hyde, CB
-
Seattle Seahawks: Kevin Reddick, LB, North Carolina
Another second-day linebacker for Seattle. The Seahawks re-signed Leroy Hill this offseason, but that was only for a year. They may find someone else if they can't bring him back again.
-
Miami Dolphins: Datone Jones, DE, UCLA
Jared Odrick stops the run very well, but he can't get to the quarterback. Rookie Olivier Vernon hasn't shown any flashes yet, so the Dolphins may spend a mid-round selection on a defensive end.
Pick change; previously Bacarri Rambo, S
-
Denver Broncos: Aaron Dobson, WR, Marshall
The Broncos have an overrated receiving corps. Eric Decker produces in fantasy, but he drops way too many passes.
-
San Diego Chargers: Da'Rick Rogers, WR, Tennessee Tech
The Chargers lost Vincent Jackson. They managed to re-sign Malcom Floyd, but it's obvious now to everyone that Robert Meachem was a waste of money. A receiver is definitely needed.
-
Philadelphia Eagles: Jelani Jenkins, OLB, Florida
What happened to Brian Rolle? He played well as a rookie last year, but he was recently demoted and then waived. The Eagles need a third linebacker to go along with DeMeco Ryans and Mychal Kendricks.
Pick change; previously Omoregie Uzzi, G
-
Arizona Cardinals: Trevardo Williams, DE/OLB, Connecticut
The Cardinals aren't getting much of a pass rush from their linebackers. Sam Acho has been OK, but O'Brien Schofield is a complete non-factor.
Pick change; previously Stepfan Taylor, RB
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: Stepfan Taylor, RB, Stanford
The Steelers will have to make a tough decision on Rashard Mendenhall, who will be a free agent next spring. They'll probably opt to go in a different direction at running back because Mendenhall has not proven that he can stay healthy.
Pick change; previously Marcus Davis, WR
-
Green Bay Packers: Knile Davis, RB, Arkansas
James Starks has yet to prove that he can stay healthy, while Alex Green is coming off an ACL tear. Cedric Benson is obviously not a long-term answer, so the Packers may address the running back position early in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Pick change; previously Nico Johnson, ILB
-
San Francisco 49ers: Johnny Adams, CB, Michigan State
Teams are always looking for cornerback depth, especially if they have extra picks.
Pick change; previously Matt Elam, S
-
Baltimore Ravens: Marcus Davis, WR, Virginia Tech
The Ravens don't have the greatest depth at receiver, so they may use a mid-round selection to fix that.
Pick change; previously Travis Frederick, G/C
-
New England Patriots: Stedman Bailey, WR, West Virginia
With Deion Branch on and off the team and Wes Welker seemingly on his way out, the Patriots suddenly have to find some new receivers for Tom Brady.
Pick change; previously Duke Williams, S
-
New York Giants: Alex Hurst, OT, LSU
The Giants really need to bolster their offensive line now that Eli Manning has entered the second half of his career. They don't want him to suffer the same fate as his brother.
Pick change; previously Mike Glennon, QB
-
Atlanta Falcons: Omoregie Uzzi, G, Georgia Tech
Peter Konz will eventually move to center and replace Todd McClure, but the Falcons will still need an upgrade at right guard.
Pick change; previously Christine Michael, RB
-
Houston Texans: Duke Williams, S, Nevada
Glover Quin is a free agent this upcoming offseason. It'll be difficult to retain him with Connor Barwin also hitting the market.
Pick change; previously Michael Mauti, ILB
