The order of this 2014 NFL Mock Draft is based on my NFL Power Rankings.

  1. Detroit Lions: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington
The Lions often go with the best player available. That would easily be Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who is an absolute stud. He'll be a matchup nightmare, much like Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham.

Brandon Pettigrew has been phased out of the offense because he's too unreliable. Undrafted rookie Joseph Fauria has shown some promise as a potential replacement, but Seferian-Jenkins would be a huge upgrade.

Pick change; previously Cyrus Kouandjio, OT

  2. San Diego Chargers: Jason Verrett, CB, TCU
The Chargers' pathetic defense made Jake Locker look like a Pro Bowler. They have a dreadful cornerback situation, which could be remedied with the use of a first-round pick in May's draft.

Pick change; previously Antonio Richardson, OT

  3. Houston Texans: C.J. Mosley, ILB, Alabama
The Texans really wanted to add some inside linebackers in the 2013 NFL Draft, but never got around to it (Arthur Brown was snagged off the board right before they picked in Round 2). They remain pretty thin at the position.

Pick change; previously A.J. Johnson, ILB

  4. Atlanta Falcons: Dominique Easley, DE, Florida
Kroy Biermann is out for the year, but he was already playing linebacker in Atlanta's defense. The Falcons need some pass-rushing help. They had just two sacks in two games prior to battling Miami's awful offensive line.

Pick change; previously Aaron Lynch, DE

  5. Kansas City Chiefs: James Hurst, OT, North Carolina
The Chiefs just spent the No. 1 overall pick on Eric Fisher, but they'll need a bookend for him once Branden Albert moves on. If you don't think Kansas City would draft two consecutive offensive tackles with its first-round picks, well, remember who's making the decisions now.

  6. Miami Dolphins: Aaron Colvin, CB, Oklahoma
The Dolphins need help at cornerback. Brent Grimes, coming off a torn Achilles, is just a short-term solution. Dimitri Patterson shouldn't be a No. 2 corner despite his interceptions against Cleveland (one bounced right into his hands off Greg Little). Miami drafted some young corners in April, but none of them have stepped up.

Pick change; previously Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB

  7. Dallas Cowboys: Anthony Johnson, DT, LSU
I have no idea what the Cowboys were thinking when they passed on Sharrif Floyd at No. 18 overall. Moving down and then selecting a third-round center made it clearer than ever that they need a real general manager. In the meantime, Jerry Jones will continue to run the team into the ground.

Perhaps Jones will suddenly realize that Dallas has a glaring need on the interior of its defensive front. Anthony Johnson would be a nice fit as Monte Kiffin's three-technique - just as Floyd would have been.

  8. Chicago Bears: Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB, Oregon
The Bears will have to address their two cornerback positions next offseason, as Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings both have expiring contracts.

Pick change; previously Jason Verrett, CB

  9. Baltimore Ravens: Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt
It should be quite apparent that the Ravens desperately need help at receiver after what happened in the opener. Neither Jacoby Jones nor Marlon Brown should be a No. 2 wideout in the NFL. Think Baltimore misses Anquan Boldin?

  10. Cincinnati Bengals: Aaron Lynch, DE, South Florida
The Bengals drafted Margus Hunt, but they have Michael Johnson hitting free agency soon. With Carlos Dunlap recently extended, it's very unlikely that Johnson will be retained.

Pick change; previously Scott Crichton, DE

  11. Green Bay Packers: A.J. Johnson, ILB, Tennessee
The Packers released Desmond Bishop in the offseason. On top of that, the rapidly aging A.J. Hawk will have an expiring contract soon. Ted Thompson will have to address the inside linebacker position in the near future.

Pick change; previously C.J. Mosley, ILB

  12. New Orleans Saints: Kyle Van Noy, DE/OLB, BYU
The Saints had several holes to fill in the 2013 NFL Draft, so they weren't able to obtain a pass-rusher until the sixth round with Rufus Johnson. They'll probably need to do so earlier next April.

I wanted to slot Kyle Van Noy around the 16th pick, but couldn't find a spot for him. Van Noy logged 13 sacks in 2012. He was especially hot down the stretch, recording 5.5 sacks in his final three games.

  13. New England Patriots: Ra'shede Hageman, DE/DT, Minnesota
Bill Belichick loves size in his defensive linemen. Ra'shede Hageman fits the bill at 6-6, 310. The Patriots could definitely stand to upgrade the interior of their defensive line.

  14. San Francisco 49ers: Scott Crichton, DE, Oregon State
The 49ers have to consider spending their first-round pick on a pass-rusher. Aldon Smith, who was just sent to rehab, has a pretty cloudy future. San Francisco needs to protect itself in case Smith can't recover.

Pick change; previously Dominique Easley, DE

  15. Denver Broncos: Christian Jones, LB, Florida State
The Broncos don't have a real middle linebacker. Wesley Woodyard has been playing in that spot, but he would be better served at the weakside position.

  16. Seattle Seahawks: Adrian Hubbard, DE/OLB, Alabama
The Seahawks signed Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril this offseason, but both were inked to short-term deals. Seattle will have to find a long-term successor for Chris Clemons.
