2015-2016 NFL Combo Mock Draft

This is a combo mock draft of all the 2015 and 2016 prospects. Leading up the 2016 NFL Draft, all I heard was how certain prospects in this recent class didn't stack up to those in 2015. So, how would the draft have gone if all the players were available? Here's the mock, and before you read it, keep two things in mind: 1) The 2015 prospects don't have their rookie campaigns taken into account; otherwise, someone like Melvin Gordon wouldn't make the cut. 2) The 2015 players were removed from each team's roster for needs purposes.

1. Tennessee Titans: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
   I should note that the 2015 and 2016 prospects are ranked in comparison to each other per Charlie Campbell's positional review rankings. Charlie spoke to several teams to learn how the prospects compared to one another while doing research for the positional review.
   
   The Titans wouldn't be able to trade down, as they'd have to re-draft Marcus Mariota. And yes, they would've taken Mariota over Jameis Winston, if given the choice.

2. Philadelphia Eagles: Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State
   Isn't it fitting that the Eagles would move up for the quarterback Chip Kelly didn't covet last year? Kelly tried his hardest to trade up to No. 2 back in 2015 to select Marcus Mariota, but simply didn't have enough ammo. The Eagles did this year, obtaining Carson Wentz while mortgaging their future. Jameis Winston was considered a much better prospect, so he would get the nod over Wentz. Note that doesn't mean that Winston will necessarily be the better player; it just means that if Winston and Wentz were in a draft together, the former would've been taken off the board earlier.
   
   
3. Los Angeles Rams: Jared Goff, QB, California
   TRADE! The Chargers' prospects of moving the No. 3 overall pick dried up when the Rams and Eagles moved ahead of them. Well, in this scenario, there are still top-caliber quarterbacks available, allowing San Diego to swing a trade.
   
   This pick should be no surprise, as the Rams are still able to obtain Jared Goff - all while surrendering fewer resources.
   
   




4. San Francisco 49ers: Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State
   TRADE! The 49ers never got a chance to get into the mix for a quarterback, but moving up from seven to two obviously isn't as painful as going from seven to four.
   
   I believe the 49ers would choose Carson Wentz over Jared Goff. Most teams believed that Wentz was the better prospect - several coaches and scouts we spoke to were in utter disbelief that the Rams preferred Goff - and it seems as though Wentz would be a better fit for Chip Kelly's Looney Tunes offense.
   
   
5. Jacksonville Jaguars: Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
   As in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Jaguars get their pick of the top non-quarterback. They chose Dante Fowler in that situation a year ago, but Joey Bosa is considered the better prospect at the position. Bosa was Jacksonville's target all along at No. 5, so he makes sense as the pick.
   
   
6. Baltimore Ravens: Jalen Ramsey, CB/S, Florida State
   It was reported that the Ravens wanted to move up for Jalen Ramsey in the 2016 NFL Draft, but the Cowboys foolishly declined all offers. Baltimore can get its man in this scenario, as Ramsey would allow the team to actually upgrade the weakest part of its roster.
   
   




7. Dallas Cowboys: Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
   Drafting a running back in the top 10 is usually a foolish move. Jerry Jones, who is living in the past, can't quite seem to grasp that concept. However, it's OK here because A) Todd Gurley is a superior prospect compared to Ezekiel Elliott, and B) Dallas moved down to take a running back. Had the Cowboys traded to No. 6 - an offer that was available to them - and taken Elliott there, it wouldn't have been nearly as bad of a decision.
   
   
8. Cleveland Browns: Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
   The Browns traded down and selected Corey Coleman, but they'd be foolish to repeat a previous mistake with another Alabama receiver. Cleveland could have taken Julio Jones, but struck a deal with Atlanta. The new front office would make amends for that with this selection.
   
   
9. Chicago Bears: Leonard Williams, DE/DT, USC
   The Bears trade up again, but this time for a different position. Defensive end was considered a glaring weakness entering the 2016 NFL Draft. Jonathan Bullard was taken in the third round, but this would obviously be a better solution.
   
   




10. New York Giants: Brandon Scherff, OT/G, Iowa
    The Giants keep missing out on Big Ten offensive linemen. They wanted Brandon Scherff a year ago, and they failed to land Jack Conklin in this previous class. Ah, if only the NFL Draft would combine classes; that way, New York could finally obtain the blocker it has been yearning for.
    
    
11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Dante Fowler, DE/OLB, Florida
    I considered Ronnie Stanley and Vernon Hargreaves at this juncture, but Dante Fowler is the best prospect of the three, and he also would fill a huge need. Tampa's pass rush was bolstered in the second round via the Noah Spence pick, but I think the Buccaneers would pull the trigger on Fowler.
    
    
12. New Orleans Saints: Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
    The Saints need defense, but they also have a hole at receiver in the wake of Marques Colston's departure. I'm sure Sean Payton would love a huge target like Kevin White in his offense.
    
    




13. Miami Dolphins: Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
    This would have to stay the same, right? The Dolphins are still getting immense value with Laremy Tunsil, whose free fall in the 2016 NFL Draft was completely asinine. The way other teams shied away from Tunsil, you'd think a video surfaced of him stuffing a dead body into a trunk of a car, or something.
    
    
14. Oakland Raiders: Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State
    There's no way the Raiders would pass on Ezekiel Elliott in this scenario. And they'd be right to take him. Drafting a running back at No. 14 makes so much more sense than at No. 4.
    
    
15. San Diego Chargers: Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame
    The Chargers passed on both offensive tackles in favor of Joey Bosa. However, with Bosa off the board, perhaps San Diego would take Ronnie Stanley, which is what some of the media outlets like Pro Football Talk were reporting.
    
    
16. Detroit Lions: Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami
    This seems pretty logical. The Lions spent their 2016 first-round pick on a middling right tackle. Why would they pass on a better player at the same position?
