2016 NFL Trade Mock: Picks 1-16

  1. Buffalo Bills: Darron Lee, LB, Ohio State
    *** Trade 6: Buffalo trades No. 19, a 2016 fifth-round pick (No. 156) to the Falcons for the No. 17 selection. ***

The Bills move up two spots so they can jump over the Colts to make sure that Darron Lee can be theirs. Lee is a perfect fit for Rex Ryan's defense, and I'm sure they'd want to make sure they could obtain him.

  2. Indianapolis Colts: Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson
The Colts could address a number of positions at this juncture, including cornerback. Vontae Davis had a down 2015 campaign, yet he was still Indianapolis' best cornerback. A second corner is needed across from him.

  3. Atlanta Falcons: Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson
The trade worked out very well for the Falcons, who still obtained the same player I slotted to them in my real 2016 NFL Mock Draft.

  4. Oakland Raiders: Vernon Butler, DT, Louisiana Tech
Vernon Butler is a very logical pick for the Raiders at No. 14, as he would help fill a void on the defensive line. However, No. 14 might be a bit too early for Butler, and there's a good chance that Oakland could still obtain him at the 20th spot.

  5. Minnesota Vikings: Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
    *** Trade 7: Minnesota trades No. 23, a 2016 fifth-round pick (No. 160) to the Redskins for the No. 21 selection. ***

The Vikings know that the Texans are hunting for a receiver, so it would make sense for them to surrender a fifth-round choice just to make sure that they obtain the top consensus wideout in the class.

  6. Houston Texans: William Fuller, WR, Notre Dame
Regardless of whether Laquon Treadwell is on the board or not, the Texans are likely taking a speed receiver like William Fuller, as he would be a better fit for the offense.

  7. Washington Redskins: Kenny Clark, DT, UCLA
The Redskins need a defensive lineman, and there happen to be several talented ones available at this juncture, so they can afford to move down a few spots like they did here.

  8. Cincinnati Bengals: Josh Doctson, WR, TCU
It's not Cincinnati's style to move around in the draft, so until things change, I don't think I'll be projecting any trades for them. Besides, Josh Doctson makes too much sense here.

  9. Pittsburgh Steelers: A'Shawn Robinson, DE/DT, Alabama
A'Shawn Robinson still falls to the Steelers in this trade mock draft. It's almost like it's destined to happen.

  10. Seattle Seahawks: Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State
This pick will remain the same as well, though the Seahawks have a ton of options, so they could easily move out of this spot.

  11. Green Bay Packers: Kevin Dodd, DE/DT/OLB, Clemson
Kevin Dodd would be an interesting player for the Packers, as he could either play five-technique or outside linebacker. The Packers need help in both spots, so he would make a ton of sense for them.

  12. Tennessee Titans: William Jackson, CB, Houston
    *** Trade 8: Tennessee trades No. 43, a 2016 third-round pick (No. 76) to the Chiefs for the No. 28 selection. ***

The Titans have the resources to make some moves, and they could easily move up into the back end of Round 1. They desperately need to address their secondary, so why not snatch the best cornerback available?

  13. Miami Dolphins: Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama
    *** Trade 9: Miami trades No. 42, a 2016 third-round pick (No. 73) to the Cardinals for the No. 29 selection. ***

The Dolphins are desperate for a running back. They thought they could somehow land Ezekiel Elliott at No. 13, but that didn't happen. Thus, they could attempt a move like this. They may think they'd have to hop over the Panthers to obtain Derrick Henry, which is probably unnecessary. But these are the Dolphins we're talking about.

  14. Carolina Panthers: Su'a Cravens, S/LB, USC
I'm sticking with the Su'a Cravens option here, per Tony Pauline's report, which means that the Super Bowl champions will be involved in the 10th and final trade...

  15. Baltimore Ravens: Eli Apple, CB, Ohio State
    *** Trade 10: Baltimore trades No. 36, a 2016 fourth-round pick (No. 130) to the Broncos for the No. 31 selection. ***

Every single team drafting ahead of the Ravens in the second round needs a cornerback, which happens to be their biggest position of weakness. Thus, a trade like this is definitely possible. By the way, it's worth noting that Baltimore's fourth-rounder is at the very end of that frame (originally Denver's own pick!), so don't think that the team is surrendering one of the premium third-day selections.
