Scouts Buzzing About Georgia DE Travon Walker

Recently here in the Hot Press, we discussed how multiple directors saw Georgia edge rusher Adam Anderson as a first-round pick for the 2022 NFL Draft. He is not the only Bulldog defensive lineman, however, who has created a lot of buzz in the scouting community this season. Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis is a consensus future first-round pick and the favorite to be the first interior defensive lineman taken in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Bulldogs actually have a shot at producing three first-round picks from their defensive line, as scouts are raving about defensive end Travon Walker. The junior is viewed as definitely an early-round pick, but sources feel he has the potential to rise into the opening night of the 2022 NFL Draft.

"That No. 44 looks like he could be special," said an area scout. "He is big, athletic, can run; he's a bigger bodied guy that can play the edge. On ability alone, he's at least a Day 2 guy."

Walker is off to an impressive start in 2021, including a big performance against Clemson in the season opener. Thus far this year, the junior has 10 tackles and a sack. The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder has the size to set the edge and is quick off the ball.

Similar to Anderson, Walker was a rotational player prior to this season thanks to how loaded Georgia has been on the defensive line. Walker is getting the chance to play more this year because Azeez Ojulari is in the NFL and Jermaine Johnson transferred to Florida State.

Sources say Bulldogs edge rusher Nolan Smith, defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt, linebacker Nakobe Dean and linebacker Quay Walker also have at least mid-round potential and some of them could rise higher. Linebacker Channing Tindall has a shot at getting drafted as well. In 2018, the Georgia offensive line had two first-round picks and another who went in the mid-rounds. Now the program's defensive line so is loaded with NFL talent that it looks like Georgia will have at least two first-rounders, Davis and Anderson, and possibly a third first-round pick with Walker rising during his junior season.
