C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young Have Same Preseason Grade

During the 2022 college football season and beyond, fans can expect a huge amount of media hype around two high-profile quarterback prospects in Ohio State's C.J. Stroud and Alabama's Bryce Young. Both were superstar recruits who dominated college football in 2021, with Young winning the popularity contest known as the Heisman Trophy. As expected, both are top quarterback prospects for the next level, and they are the highest-graded quarterbacks on NFL teams' preseason watch list. Interestingly, Stroud and Young enter the 2022 season with the same numerical value in their preseason grades.
Of the two quarterbacks, Stroud has more prototypical size at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, while the 5-foot-11, 194-pound Young has drawn some comparisons to Kyler Murray. On the field, their sophomore year stats were extremely similar. In 2021, Stroud completed 72 percent of his passes for 4,435 yards, 44 touchdowns and six interceptions. En route to winning the Heisman, Young completed 67 percent of his passes for 4,872 yards, 47 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
With all the talent around them, both Stroud and Young should produce prolific 2022 seasons, provided they can stay healthy. It could make for an interesting debate about which quarterback is the higher rated for the 2023 NFL Draft, and it could vary by NFL franchise, especially with the two entering the 2022 season with the same preseason grade.
