To Catch A League Winner: Pickup Chad Hansen!

Look I know everyone in the fantasy football playoffs wants to start the guys who got them there, but last year I watched in disbelief as Tyler Higbee popped out of nowhere to have one of the greatest 5 game stretches in NFL history. He knocked me out of the playoffs so this year I vowed to not let that happen again. Higbee's run was fueled by opportunity as injuries to Gerald Everett and Cooper Kupp allowed him to finally be key part of the Rams offense.

Enter Chad Hansen, a 2017 4th round pick of the New York Jets, who was called up from the Texan's practice squad on Sunday for his first game action since his rookie year. Hansen proceeded to have 5 catches for 101 yards on 7 targets against a stingy Colts defense. Much like Higbee, the opportunity is there for Hansen to put up gaudy numbers the rest of the season. The Texans offense is one of the most pass happy in the league. Will Fuller is gone for the season, Randall Cobb is hurt, Kenny Stills was released, Brandin Cooks is oft injured himself, and Watson hates throwing to Isaiah Coulter/Jordan Atkins. This leaves Keke Coutee, Cooks (when healthy), and Chad Hansen as the only reliable targets for Deshaun Watson.

In week 13, Hansen was on the field for 59 of the Texans 64 offensive plays, the highest of any wide receiver on the team. I'm not saying to start the guy this week, but if he has another strong performance in week 14 consider starting him in week 15 against the Colts, the same team he just had a 101 yard game against.

If this guy is actually legit (a big if), picking him up will at the minimum prevent someone else from torching you with him later in the postseason. As we saw earlier in the year with Travis Fulgham, anyone given the opportunity can put up startable numbers for your fantasy team. So if you're trying to catch a league winner, consider Chad Hansen.
