The Cleveland Browns: Why They Are Doing Things RIGHT

First off, let me say, I am NOT a Browns fan, I am not writing this as a biased fan trying to support his team. I am simply a high school student, who wants to proceed into the world of Sports Journalism/ Sports Reporting. With that being said I believe the Cleveland Browns are doing things the RIGHT way in building this franchise. Now before you click off and call me names and say I have no logic, hear me out.

Everybody crapped on the Browns for trading away the 2nd Overall Pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, passing up the opportunity to select QB Carson Wentz. Looking back on it, the Browns probably want to do that sequence over, and select the North Dakota State QB, but they didn't. They ended up selecting Corey Coleman, an explosive and under-rated WR from Baylor. Then they went and took defensive players and offensive play makers, before taking signal-called Cody Kessler, who has extreme potential. Immediately everybody trashed the Browns and said they were stupid for passing on Wentz. But I decided to look at it from the other side of the spectrum.

The Browns knew the QB class in this years draft had more depth, with potentially 4 QBs going in the top 15 (Watson, Trubisky, Kizer, Mahomes) and possibly more later on (Kaaya, Rudolph, Falk) so they knew they had a higher chance of hitting on a star QB. But they also see a lot in Kessler, and so do I. All he needs is better composure in the presence, and protection from the O-Line and he has the tools to become a really good QB in the NFL.

We all know the Browns will probably get the first pick this year, but the question remains: Will they take a Quarterback or the best player available? And the answer NEEDS to be Myles Garrett, the best player available. With Garrett, you can build around him and create a competitive defense, so Kessler doesnt have to do it all.

All I am saying is, with the players available at other positions and the players the Browns already have, the way they are building their team, is the right way to build a franchise. And they have the right mindset, if they take Garrett.
