First off, I appreciated all the support I got last time and many people must have noted, as 3 out of the last 4 rants after my Vikings one have all been on the same topic. I am also sorry for taking this long to get this one up here, though. This is my 3rd time doing this too, as I have lost my progress that many times. I am actually glad for that, though, as the Colts latest game against the Vikings has changed up my opinion on what they should do. So thank you all for the support on my Vikings one, and I will continue to make these. Next teams up are Saints, Browns, Panthers, Jets, and Bengals.
The Indianapolis Colts have many different holes to fill, but they have shown flashes of being a great team. This last week against the Vikings, the Colts looked amazing, even their defense was great. This offseason could get them into a contending team next season.
The Colts have quite a few upcoming free agents that they should just let leave. Many players such as Trent Cole, Robert Mathis, and Mike Adams are well past their prime. Those three players they should just let leave. Eric Walden is one player that they should make a priority this offseason. He has had a breakout season this year by improving his sacks from 3 all the way to 10 this year. Robert Turbin they should also try to resign. Jack Doyle has done quite well for the Colts this year, but he may ask for too much money. It may be best to let him walk after seeing what Erik Swoopes was able to do against the Vikings. They already have 2 solid TEs, so there is not much of a reason to be paying two quite a bit when you could just keep Allen and Swoopes.  A player that they should try and target would be Ronald Leary. Leary is now an OG for the Cowboys, but I do not see them keeping him around. Right now, Leary is only starting in Dallas because Lael Collins is out for the year. In saying that, I do not mean that Leary is a bad player. He would be a huge improvement at RG for the Colts. That would be one of the few moves the Colts would be able to make in free agency, as Luck takes up so much of their cap. They should also cut Frank Gore, as he is getting pretty old now, and he may just retire.
The draft is the big stage for the Colts. Some positions for them to target there are RB, 3-4 OLB, CB, ILB, and RT in that order. In the first round, their pick would around the 15 range. The best pick there would be Leonard Fournette, but the chances that he is available there are slim to none. The next best option would be RB Dalvin Cook from Florida State. Cook has had amazing seasons these last two years. In 2015, he had 1691 rushing yards, 19 rushing touchdowns, 244 receiving yards, and 1 receiving TD. This year his stats were 1620 rushing yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, 426 receiving yards, and 1 receiving touchdown. In round two, they should try to find a pass rusher to pair up with Eric Walden. A great option would be Takkarist McKinley from UCLA. McKinley has had 10 sacks this year, 61 tackles, and 18 tackles for loss. He could be a great NFL pass rusher. In round 3, CB Cameron Sutton from Tennessee would be a solid pick. Sutton played only 6 games this year thanks to a broken ankle, but he has looked great when he has played. In round 4, the Colts should draft ILB Josey Jewell from Iowa. Jewell has had 114 tackles and 5 tackles for loss. He has not had any interceptions this year, but he has shown that capability in the past as he had 4 picks last year. Javarius Leamon OT from South Carolina State is a player that they should draft in round 5. Leamon could play pretty soon at RT and he could become a LT in the future. Tyrone Swoopes would be a great pick in the 6th round. Swoopes is a QB for Texas, but he could become a TE in the NFL. Maybe the Colts could have the same luck in converting him to TE as they have had with another Swoopes. Erik Swoopes (no known relation) was a basketball player in college and he just had a nice game against the Minnesota Vikings. Tyrone Swoopes could then come to replace Erik's role as Erik would be up to the number two TE. In the 7th, the Colts could take a shot with Chucky Clements. Clements is one of those players where you never know which version you will get. Some games he is quite disruptive, but other games he will just disappear. That would wrap up the Colts draft.
Their depth chart for 2017 would then look like:
QB1 Andrew Luck
QB2 Scott Tolzien
RB1 Dalvin Cook
RB2 Robert Turbin
RB3 Josh Ferguson
WR1 T.Y. Hilton
WR2 Donte Moncrief
