Round 1

Picks 17-27
19. Buccaneers: Steve Avila, C, TCU

Balker Mayfield or Kyle Trask will need a line to block for them and Avila can likely start at three spots on the line. This is simply a smart choice, but they be very, very poor next season.

18. Lions: Lukas Van Ness, DE, Iowa

Aiden Hutchinson needs a tag team partner at defensive end and pairing him with Van Ness is an excellent idea and he is solid value here.

20. Seahawks: Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson

A lot of people have Jalen Carter at 5, but if he isn’t the pick, drafting a defensive tackle here makes a lot of sense. A Will Anderson-Bryan Breece first round would make a huge difference for their young D.

16. Commanders: Jaelyn Duncan, OT, Maryland

Starting Sam Howell is a gutsy move, and though I can still see them finding a stronger talent, they need to protect the guy who is their QB and that’s where Duncan can help them.

21. Chargers: Isaiah Foskey, DE, Notre Dame

Foskey was a monster for the Irish this season and the Chargers may cut Khalil Mack for financial reasons, so drafting Foskey
makes a ton of sense. You cannot have too many guys who specialize at getting to the QB.

22. Ravens: Brian Branch, S, Alabama

Yes, the Ravens just drafted Kyle Hamilton, but could still use one more body in that secondary and Branch has versatility and talent to walk in and make as big of a difference as Hamilton.

24. Jaguars: Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee

The Jaguars need to help protect Trevor Lawrence who is the franchise and Wright can step in and help as a rookie and also help Trevor Ettiene who has star potential.

23. Vikings: Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois

The Vikings lost a lot of talent in the secondary this offseason as they have had to lose a lot of veteran talent because of money issues. Witherspoon has star potential at CB and would fit quite well.

25. Giants: Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College

Yes, they have spent a recent first and second rounder at the position, but they still need a lot of help and Zay Flowers could become their number one receiver.

26. Cowboys: Calijah Kancey, DT, Pittsburgh

Not a huge need, but you have to keep your lines fresh and Kancey is a fast riser that could become a star next to Micah Parsons. They can grab a WR, RB and TE in later rounds.

31. Chiefs: Cody Mauch, G, North Dakota State

Choosing for Kansas City isn’t easy. Personally I think they need a guy like Mauch, as drafting a guy who can play multiple positions on the OL and whose job is to protect the biggest star in the league is smart.

28. Bengals: Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia

The Bengals have to protect Joe Burrow. If healthy, they are a Super Bowl contender and if not, they aren’t, so they need to protect him. Jones is a big time talent and from Georgia, a winner.

29. Saints: Will McDonald, DE, Iowa State

The Saints need to properly replace Marcus Davenport and get younger, so drafting McDonald to play across and learn from Cameron Jordan is where they should look.

30. Eagles: Nolan Smith, OLB, Georgia

With a second first round pick, taking a chance on the incredibly athletic Smith makes a lot of sense. Nobody can have too many guys that gets sacks, and I love the fit. Smith has immense potential.

27. Bills: Felix Anudike-Uzomah, DE/OLB, Kansas State

The Bills have to find one more guy who can get to the QB. They should have star Von Miller next season, but adding a young guy with big sack potential is simply smart. You can argue for a WR or a LB as well.
