2020 NFL Draft Big Board Prospects 17-32 Published at 4/9/2020
|
My big boards are based on individual prospect ratings and positional rankings. For example if prospect x and y have a similar overall ranking but one plays quarterback and one plays defensive tackle, then the QB with have a higher position on the big board.
Prospect rankings are based more on production than potential. I am not a huge fan of this guys has limited production but he could be amazing if he puts it all together. Why hasn't he put it together to some degree already? Producing in a big conference earns more value than a small conference and multiple years of solid production is better than one great year.
Positional value goes like this for me: QB, pass coverage, pass protection, playmakers, pass rush. These are general areas but if a position allows a play to excel in one of these areas then that helps them.
1. Joe Burrow QB LSU
2. Chas Young Edge Ohio State
3. Isaiah Simmons LB/S Clemson
4. Jeff Okudah CB Ohio State
5.Tua Tagovailoa QB Alabama
6. Andrew Thomas OT Georgia
7. Tristan Wirfs OT Iowa
8. Jerry Jeudy WR Alabama
9. CeeDee Lamb WR Oklahoma
10. Jedrick Wills OT Alabama
11. Mekhi Becton OT Louisville
12. Henry Ruggs III WR Alabama
13. Derrick Brown DT Auburn
14. CJ Henderson CB Florida
15. Justin Herbert QB Oregon
16. Justin Jefferson WR LSU
17. Javon Kinlaw DT South Carolina - Kinlaw is a stud defensive tackle. Over the past 2 years he has 10 sacks and 17 tackles for a loss in the SEC against other top opponents. Kinlaw is huge; 6'5" 324 lbs with 34 7/8 in arms and 10 1/2 in hands. He is also lightening quick with his first step. Has the ability to blow by opponents while also using his incredible upper body strength to bull rush lineman. Kinlaw is a sure fire starter and possibly Pro Bowl caliber player which is why he is high on my big board even as a defensive tackle.
18. Grant Delpit S LSU - Delpit has a ton of experience for a top program in a power 5 conference. Delpit has 199 tackles, 17.5 TFL, 7 sacks, 8 ints, and 24 PD. That is HUGE results from a big time player that was all over the field. Delpit has taken a big hit for missing tackles this year. Granted, missed tackles are a big deal but let's not overlook how many big plays and tackles he has made. Delpit is a game changing safety. He stands 6'2" weighing 213 lbs with 30 3/8 in arms and 9 1/8 in hands.
19. Damon Arnette CB Ohio State - Arnette is a redshirt senior that has 47 games under his belt. He has 140 tackles, 5 TFL, 5 ints, and 22 PDs. Arnette is higher on my board than most because he provides excellent pass coverage skills. He biggest issue is not on the the field but with some off the field concerns. I think that a lot of young man can get unfairly labeled with "off the field" concerns that can be corrected simply by majority, getting away from some unhealthy connections and solid NFL programs. Arnette is 6'0" and 195 lbs running a 4.53 forty yard dash. Arnette may not have elite speed but he had the experience, skills and size to be a starting CB in the NFL.
20. Xavier McKinney S Alabama - McKinney has been a starter for the past 2 years on a top flight program. He has 169 tackles, 11.5 TFL, 6 sacks, 5 ints, 2 TDs returns, 15 PD, and 6 FF. That is a TON of production from a top program in a power 5 conference. McKinney is a sure firer starter and very versatile safety that has a well rounded game. McKinney is 6'1" 201 lbs with 30 in arms, 4.6 forty yard dash, 19 reps of 225 lb bench press and 36 in vertical.
21. Trevon Diggs CB Alabama - Diggs only had 30 games played as a CB as he switched from WR his freshman year. However, Diggs was playing at a great level before in injury 2 season ago and last year he was a stud cover man for a top flight program in a power 5 conference. Diggs has 68 tackles, 4 ints, and 17 PD of his career. Diggs also has great size at 6'1', 205 lbs, 32 3/4 in arms and 9 3/8 in hands. Diggs looks like a starter CB from day one.
22. Kristian Fulton CB LSU - Fulton has 56 tackles, 2 ints, and 20 PD over his 3 year career. He is below other CB's for me because of his injury history. He's only played one full season of college football. Fulton did have a great year with 38 tackles and 14 PD. Fulton also has great size at 6'0" 197 lbs, 30 5/8 in arms, 9 1/8 in hands, 4.46 forty yard dash and 35 in vertical leap. He has the skills and physical tools to be a starting CB and pass coverage is vital in today's NFL which is why he lands this high for me. As long as Fulton stays healthy he is worth a 1st round pick.
23. Jalen Reagor WR TCU - Reagor has 148 catches for 2248 yards, 15.2 average and 22 TDs along with 35 carries for 324 yards and 2 rushing TDs. Reagor could have put up better numbers from a program with better QB play. Regardless, Reagor has game breaking ability. Reagor is 5'11' 207 lbs with 31 3/8 in arms and 9 1/2 in hands. He ran a 4.47 forty yard dash, 17 reps of 225 lb bench press, and a 42 in vertical leap. Reagor has great athleticism and strength. Everyone was flipping out about his slow "4.47" forty??? Really, he added 10 lbs of muscle to his frame and still ran a 4.4 forty. That sounds amazing to me.
24. Denzel Mims WR Baylor - Mims has 186 catches for 2925 yards 28 TDs and a 15.7 average. Mims has put up great numbers in a power 5 conference. Mims is 6'3' 207 lbs with 33 7/8 in arms and 9 3/8 in hands. He ran a 4.38 forty yard dash, had 16 reps of 225 lbs bench press to go along with a 38.5 in vertical. Those are serious numbers and Mims should be getting more 1st round buzz. Playmakers are a huge part of NFL success right now and Mims has that potential.
25. Chase Claypool WR/TE Notre Dame - Claypool has 150 catches for 2159 yards 19 TDs and a 14.4 average. Claypool, like Reagor would have better numbers with better QB play. Notre Dame has been a top 25 team for all of Claypool's career. When he gets the ball in his hands then he is dangerous. What really sets Claypool apart is his physical traits. He is 6'4" 237 lbs with 32 1/2 in arms and 9 7/8 in hands. He ran a 4.42 forty yard dash, had 19 reps of the 225lb bench press and a 40.5 in vertical leaps. Claypool is an athletic marvel in addition to producing at a big program and not having an injury history. Claypool could be a real steal for teams at the bottom of the 1st round.
26. AJ Epenesa DE Iowa - Epenesa has 3 years of experience for a power 5 conference school. He has 101 tackles, 36 TKL, 26.5 sacks, 7 PD, and 9 FF. Epenesa has really produced over the past 2 years. He is 6'5" 275 lbs with 34 1/2 in arms and 10 and 1/8 in hands. He ran a 5.06 forty yard dash had 17 reps of 225lb bench press and 32.5 in vertical leap. He plays with great power and heavy hands allowing him to bull rush his opponents with ease. He compares very similarly to Trey Flowers and that is worth a first round pick. He can play edge and rush from the inside on passing downs which adds some versatility.
27. Jonathan Taylor RB Wisconsin - Taylor has arguably put together the best 3 year rushing totals in NCAA history. He has 926 carries for 6174 yards to go along with 50 TDs at a 6.7 average. He has 42 catches for 407 yards and 5 TDs receiving. Taylor hasn't missed a game as a workhorse RB, some think that is a concern and that he has too many miles on his tires. I disagree. He is a stud capable of being an every down RB in the NFL. Some also are concerned about his pass catching but he responded with 26 receptions last year well above the 8 he had each year before that. Taylor is ready to start day one in the NFL because he is a playmaker. He is 5'10" 226 lbs with 9 1/2 in hands. He ran a 4.39 forty yard dash, 17 reps of 225lbs, and a 36 in vertical leap.
28. D'Andre Swift RB Georgia - Swift had been a quality back at a top flight program in a power 5 conference for 3 years now. Swift has 440 carries for 2885 yards with 20 TDs for a 6.6 average. He also has 73 catches for 666 yards and 5 receiving TDs. Swift has great size and speed as well. He is 5'8" 212 lbs, with 9 in hands. He ran 4.48 forty and had a 35.5 in vertical leap. Swift has great moves in the open field and is a day one starting playmaker at the RB position.
29. Patrick Queen LB LSU - Queen has played for a top flight program in a power 5 conference with solid numbers. He has 131 tackles, 17.5 TFL (12 last year), 3 sacks, 1 int, and 2 PD. Queen is 6'0" weighing 229 lbs with 31 5/8 in arms and 10 in hands. Queen ran a 4.5 forty yard dash, 18 reps of 225lb bench press and had a 35 in vertical leap. Queen's calling card is his speed, weighing 229 lbs and being almost as fast as the WR's above him on this list. Modern day NFL defenses need speed to match the pass happy offenses of today that can also stop the run. Queen looks like a perfect fit.
30. Josh Jones OT Houston - Jones has experience starting at LT while also having great size at 6'5" weighing 310 lbs. Jones has an injury history and plays for a non power 5 school which is why he is lower on my board. Jones does have excellent grades from PFF.
31. Jalen Hurts QB Oklahoma - A lot of people don't think that Hurts is an NFL QB, do you remember when everyone said the same thing about Lamar Jackson? I kept saying that Jackson should have been the #1 overall pick. "Experts" said Jackson can't be an NFL passer, read defenses, etc, etc. Hurts to me has put together an amazing college career and has great physical traits. Hurts is a career 65% passing on over 1,000 throws with 9477 yards, 80 TDs and only 20 Ints. He also has 614 carries for 3274 yards and 43 rushing TDs. He is 6'1" weighing 222lbs and has 9 3/4 in hands. He ran a 4.59 forty yard dash to go along with a 35 in vertical leap. To me, Hurts can be a lesser but still amazing version of Lamar Jackson.
32. Tee Higgins WR Clemson - Higgins has 135 career catches for 2448 yards and 27 TDs for an 18.1 average. Higgins has been playing for the best college football team over the past 3 years and put up huge numbers. He is also 6'4" weighing 214 lbs with 34 1/8 in arms and 9 1/4 in hands. Higgins ran a 4.5 forty yard dash at his pro day to go along with 31 in vertical and a 10'3' broad jump. His 20 yard shuttle time of 4.25 seconds would have been 6th best at the combine. Higgins doesn't have elite speed but he has size and long arms that allows them to
