Fixing the Rams Published at 12/22/2016

Finally the Rams have fired Jeff Fisher. It probably wouldnt be a bad idea to send Snead with him. When finding a coach this off-season the Rams had better someone that can develop Goff. My first target would be Paul Chryst from the University of Wisconsin. Chryst runs a pro style offense that is run first. If Chryst wont leave UW I would probably go after Josh McDaniels.
The Rams should go into the off-season with about $39 million in cap room. There arent a lot of cuts that could be made to save cap room without a large dead money charge. They could cut Lance Kendricks and save $4.25 mil but without a replacement I think he sticks for now. Priority 1 should be extending Aaron Donald who will be a free agent after 2017. They could look at extending Alec Ogletree, who is on the last year of his deal and has a $8.369 million base salary. The Rams will also need to do what they can to bring back Trumaine Johnson.
After taking care of their own free agents and extending some future free agents the Rams should have a little money left to add a lower tier free agent or two. The Rams go out and add Kendall Wright wr from the Titans and Kayvon Webster corner from Denver.
After a quiet free agency the Rams will go into the draft short of picks. They traded their 1 and 3 for Goff. They should have a compensatory pick in the 3rd for Janoris Jenkins. With their 2nd round pick the Rams should be targeting Feeny/E. Engram/ David Njoku. With their comp pick at the end of the 3rd and their pick early in the 4th the Rams should target Noah Brown/Jerome Lane/ Jordan Willis/Kareem Are.
This team will probably struggle again next year given the need to save cap space to lock up Aaron Donald, Trumaine Johnson, and Alec Ogletree. Getting a couple contributors this years and taking advantage of a full slate of picks next year should help the Rams get this thing turned around. Already being rid of Jeff Fisher will give them a chance.
