This is a 2011 NFL Draft Re-Mock, just in case you missed the big blue letters up top. I'm going back to 2011 and re-distributing all of the 2011 NFL Draft prospects to all of the teams in the 2011 NFL Draft order. This 2011 NFL Draft Re-Mock is based on how these players have performed in their careers, as well as the needs each team had back in 2011.

2011 NFL Draft Re-Mock: Picks 1-16

  1. New England Patriots: Chris Harris, CB, Kansas
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Nate Solder, OT
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Muhammad Wilkerson, DE/DT

The Patriots won their most-recent Super Bowl thanks to some outstanding cornerback play. What if they could get that earlier, all while stealing one of their rival's top players? Perhaps Tom Brady would have five rings by now.

  2. San Diego Chargers: Jurrell Casey, DE/DT, USC
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Corey Liuget, DE/DT
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Cameron Heyward, DE/DT

I mocked a five-technique to the Chargers, and they ended up selecting one. Thus, it would make sense to give them one in this re-draft. Jurrell Casey has been an outstanding player for the Titans, who successfully made the transition from the 4-3 to the 3-4 this past season.

  3. New York Giants: Mike Pouncey, C/G, Florida
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Prince Amukamara, CB
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Anthony Castonzo, OT

In my Giants' 2011 season preview, I expressed concern about Eli Manning's blocking. It turned out to be a non-factor that particular season, as New York ended up winning the Super Bowl, but better offensive linemen, especially on the interior, couldn't have hurt.

  4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Pernell McPhee, DE, Mississippi State
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Adrian Clayborn, DE
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: J.J. Watt, DE

Here's another instance in which the actual pick, the mock projection and the re-draft choice all happen to be the same position. Pernell McPhee is somewhere in between J.J. Watt and Adrian Clayborn, as he would've provided a better pass rush than the latter.

  5. Kansas City Chiefs: Randall Cobb, WR/KR, Kentucky
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Jonathan Baldwin, WR
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Nate Solder, OT

The Chiefs screwed this one up pretty bad, selecting the utterly inept Jonathan Baldwin. They wanted an upgrade over Chris Chambers - insert the "time has come today" Chris Berman quote - so I'm willing to give them a better weapon.

  6. Indianapolis Colts: Orlando Franklin, G/OT, Miami
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Anthony Castonzo, OT
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Gabe Carimi, OT

As you can tell, the Colts were definitely interested in bolstering their offensive line in the 2011 NFL Draft. If only Ryan Grigson would decide to do that now... Perhaps the addition of Orlando Franklin could've prevented Andrew Luck from sustaining an injury that plagued him throughout his 2015 campaign.

  7. Philadelphia Eagles: Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Danny Watkins, G
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Jimmy Smith, CB

The Eagles selected the ancient Danny Watkins at this spot in 2011. Watkins was so old that he almost considered announcing his retirement minutes after the draft.

Philadelphia could've focused on the interior of the opposite side of the line of scrimmage, as they'd go on to sign Cullen Jenkins once free agency commenced following the lockout. Nick Fairley would've prevented that, though Fairley had no chance of dropping this far.

  8. New Orleans Saints: DeMarco Murray, RB, Oklahoma
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Cameron Jordan, DE
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Da'Quan Bowers, DE

The Saints ended up trading into the end of the first round to select Mark Ingram. Thus, DeMarco Murray is definitely an option at this spot. Murray is coming off a rough 2015 campaign, but he won the rushing title the year before, so he'd be the preferred choice over Ingram.

  9. Seattle Seahawks: Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: James Carpenter, OT
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Corey Liuget, DT

Sorry, Seahawk fans, no Richard Sherman fifth-round steal for you. To make up for it - well, sort of - you guys can have Jimmy Smith, who is a pretty solid cornerback. He's no Sherman, but he's the best your team can do at No. 25 in this re-draft.

  10. Baltimore Ravens: Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Jimmy Smith, CB
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Derek Sherrod, OT

The Ravens miss Jimmy Smith by one pick in this re-draft. Fortunately for them, Prince Amukamara is pretty close, so it won't matter all that much. I know Baltimore supporters were concerned and all, but it'll all turn out to be OK.

  11. Atlanta Falcons: Clint Boling, G, Georgia
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Julio Jones, WR (trade up)
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Kyle Rudolph, TE

Trading up for Julio Jones was probably the right decision, but doing so completely wrecked Atlanta's depth. The team simply can't sustain success now once several players go down with injuries. Had the Falcons stayed at this spot, Clint Boling would've made sense (knowing how every prospect would perform, of course). Atlanta lost guard Harvey Dahl in free agency, so Boling would've been a nice replacement.

  12. New England Patriots: Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Mark Ingram, RB (Saints traded up)
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Mark Ingram, RB

Mark Ingram was the pick here, but he ended up going to the Saints. I mocked Ingram to the Patriots for the following reasoning: "If New England stays put, Mark Ingram is a strong option. The Patriots certainly don't need Ingram, but he's undoubtedly the top player available and certainly couldn't hurt New England's offense. The Patriots are actually fully expected to address the running back position this offseason."

  13. Chicago Bears: Julius Thomas, TE, Portland State
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Gabe Carimi, OT
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Marvin Austin, DT

The Bears traded Greg Olsen to the Panthers. Chicago ultimately had Martellus Bennett added on as a replacement, but the team could've taken Julius Thomas in a later round as an even better option.

  14. New York Jets: Cameron Heyward, DE/DT, Ohio State
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Phil Taylor, NT
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Muhammad Wilkerson, DE/DT

It's still crazy that Muhammad Wilkerson managed to fall this far. He was scooped up way earlier in this re-draft, however, so the Jets would have to go in a different direction. And by different direction, I mean a lesser player at the same exact position.

  15. Pittsburgh Steelers: Da'Norris Searcy, S, North Carolina
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Cameron Heyward, DE/DT
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Aaron Williams, S

The Steelers didn't have an immediate need for a safety, but with Ryan Clark about to turn 32 and Troy Polamalu coming off an Achilles tear, some insurance at the position definitely would've made sense. Pittsburgh missed Cameron Heyward by one pick, but definitely picked up a solid consolation prize.

  16. Green Bay Packers: Jabaal Sheard, DE/OLB, Pittsburgh
Actual 2011 NFL Draft Pick: Derek Sherrod, OT
My 2011 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Brooks Reed, DE/OLB

Jabaal Sheard has been an effective pass-rusher, which is something the Packers needed, as evidenced by my mock draft choice and also the team's first-round selection the following April, Nick Perry.
