This is a 2012 NFL Draft Re-Mock, just in case you missed the big blue letters up top. I'm going back to 2012 and re-distributing all of the 2012 NFL Draft prospects to all of the teams in the 2012 NFL Draft order. This 2012 NFL Draft Re-Mock is based on how these players have performed in their careers, as well as the needs each team had back in 2012.

2012 NFL Draft Re-Mock: Picks 1-16

  1. Cincinnati Bengals: Kevin Zeitler, G, Wisconsin
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Dre Kirkpatrick, CB
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Dre Kirkpatrick, CB

The Bengals came away with some great players following the 2012 NFL Draft, including Kevin Zeitler and Vontaze Burfict. The latter has been a great player for them when he hasn't been suspended, while Zeitler is one of the top guards in the NFL. Zeitler has to be the pick in this scenario.

  2. San Diego Chargers: Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB, South Carolina
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Chandler Jones, DE/OLB

As you can tell, the Chargers were desperate for an edge rusher. From my mock: "The Chargers didn't really address the rush linebacker position last offseason, opting only to sign Travis LaBoy, a rotational player. As a consequence, only one player had more than four sacks this past year." Travis LaBoy? More like, oh boy, he's going to be terrible!

  3. Chicago Bears: Malik Jackson, DE/DT, Tennessee
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Shea McClellin, DE
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Michael Brockers, DT

The Bears reportedly loved Michael Brockers entering the 2012 NFL Draft, but couldn't take him because the Rams snatched him off the board. Brockers has been a very good player for St. Louis/Los Angeles over the years, but Malik Jackson has been better. His absence from Denver's defense was definitely noticed after he signed a big deal with Jacksonville.

  4. Tennessee Titans: T.Y. Hilton, WR/KR, Florida International
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Kendall Wright, WR
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Whitney Mercilus, DE

The Titans took Kendall Wright with this pick, and it appeared as though they made a great selection after 2013. Wright, however, has fallen off since, thanks to a lack of effort. Tennessee wishes it would've taken T.Y. Hilton instead of Wright.

  5. Cincinnati Bengals: Vontaze Burfict, ILB, Arizona State
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Kevin Zeitler, G
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Courtney Upshaw, DE

If you're wondering, the Bengals had two first-round picks as a result of the Carson Palmer heist trade with the Raiders. I mentioned that they landed both Vontaze Burfict and Kevin Zeitler in the 2012 NFL Draft, so we might as well give them the other stud. Some teams wouldn't be able to handle Burfict, but the Bengals have shown that they're willing to take on troubled players.

  6. Cleveland Browns: Lavonte David, OLB, Nebraska
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Brandon Weeden, QB
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Kendall Wright, WR

Brandon Weeden? Brandon Weeden!? Browns, what are you doing!?

Here's a better option than a 56-year-old quarterback. Lavonte David has been a great linebacker for the Buccaneers, and he'd fit the 4-3 defense the Browns were running at the time. Cleveland was relying on Scott Fujita and Chris Gocong at ouside linebacker, so it's safe to say that David would've been a massive upgrade.

  7. Detroit Lions: David DeCastro, G, Stanford
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Riley Reiff, OT
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Cordy Glenn, OT

I slotted Cordy Glenn to the Lions in my 2012 NFL Mock Draft, but not as a tackle. I thought Glenn could play right tackle or guard for Detroit, citing that the team desperately needed help all over its offensive line to protect Matthew Stafford. The Lions can achieve that in this re-mock with one of the top players remaining on the board.

  8. Pittsburgh Steelers: Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: David DeCastro, G
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Dont'a Hightower, LB

With David DeCastro being chosen one spot earlier, Pittsburgh can pick the player I mocked to them in the first place. Here was my reasoning: "The Steelers usually take the top player on their board, and it would be hard to imagine that it wouldn't be Dont'a Hightower in this case. Pittsburgh just cut James Farrior, so the Alabama product would be a great long-term solution next to Lawrence Timmons. Hightower seems like he was made to play for the Steelers."

  9. Denver Broncos: Derek Wolfe, DE/DT, Cincinnati
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Derek Wolfe, DE/DT
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Dontari Poe, NT

I had the right position in my 2012 NFL Mock Draft, but it was the wrong player. I hate it when that happens! Derek Wolfe was instrumental in Denver's Super Bowl season in 2015, so I have to imagine they'd pick him again. Here's the reasoning for why I thought they would take a defensive tackle: "The Broncos have absolutely nothing at defensive tackle, as they lost a number of players at that position this offseason, including Brodrick Bunkley. The current projected starters are Ty Warren and Kevin Vickerson. Thus, it wouldn't surprise anyone if Denver used back-to-back selections to improve this area."

  10. Houston Texans: Bruce Irvin, DE/OLB, West Virginia
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Whitney Mercilus, DE/OLB
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Bruce Irvin, DE/OLB

I wrote earlier that Bruce Irvin ended up being a surprise first-round pick for the Texans. Well, while going over my 2012 NFL Mock Draft, I was surprised to see that I had listed Irvin in the first round. I completely forgot about it. I mocked him to the Texans, who ended up taking another edge rusher. That was Whitney Mercilus, but he was chosen earlier in this re-mock.

  11. New England Patriots: Michael Brockers, DE/DT, LSU
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Chandler Jones, DE
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Shea McClellin, DE

Michael Brockers is the top player remaining according to my re-mock board, so I checked the 2012 Patriots team needs page to see if they needed a five-technique defensive lineman. Surely enough, that was one of the holes the team had on its roster: "The Patriots can't count on Kyle Love or a 34-year-old Gerard Warren on the interior of their defensive line next year. Someone like Fletcher Cox or Michael Brockers could suffice in the 2012 NFL Draft."

  12. Green Bay Packers: Tashaun Gipson, S, Wyoming
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Nick Perry, DE
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Harrison Smith, S

The Packers had a huge need at safety entering the 2012 NFL Draft. Charlie Peprah was a big liability, while the previously talented Nick Collins was cut in the offseason. Harrison Smith, whom I mocked to Green Bay, was chosen one pick later, and I'm sure the Packers regret taking Nick Perry over him. Here's another talented safety.

  13. Baltimore Ravens: Brandon Brooks, G, Miami of Ohio
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Courtney Upshaw, DE
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Peter Konz, C

Both the actual and mock picks were terrible, so let's actually give the Ravens a good player, shall we?

The Ravens would ultimately land Kelechi Osemele in the second round, but they don't have that luxury in this situation. What they can do is pick Brandon Brooks, who has been a stellar guard for both the Texans and Eagles.

  14. San Francisco 49ers: Trumaine Johnson, CB/FS, Montana
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: A.J. Jenkins, WR
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Stephen Hill, WR

I mocked a crappy receiver to the 49ers. They went against me and took... another crappy receiver. They should've avoided the position all together, opting instead of Trumaine Johnson. The Rams' talented cornerback could have filled a need at safety, as he was projected at that position coming out of Montana. He would've eventually moved into one of the cornerback positions.

  15. New England Patriots: Danny Trevathan, OLB, Kentucky
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: Dont'a Hightower, LB
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Kendall Reyes, DE/DT

The Patriots spent their second first-round pick on Dont'a Hightower. Danny Trevathan is slightly worse, but he's still worthy of being chosen in the first round. Trevathan helped the Broncos win a Super Bowl, and Denver really missed him after he signed with Chicago the following offseason.

  16. New York Giants: Lamar Miller, RB, Miami
Actual 2012 NFL Draft Pick: David Wilson, RB
My 2012 NFL Mock Draft Pick: Doug Martin, RB

The Giants spent their first round pick on running back David Wilson. It was a panic move, as they really wanted Doug Martin, who was chosen one spot earlier. Looking back, the running back New York really should have taken was Lamar Miller, who thrived in Houston after he wasn't used properly with Miami.
