-
Philadelphia Eagles: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State
Brandon Boykin was a nice pick in the fourth round, but he won't be enough if Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie leaves via free agency, as Philadelphia wants three high-level cornerbacks. Boykin played well versus Baltimore, so a No. 1 pick might be too early for a third corner, but Johnthan Banks is the best player on the board.
-
Denver Broncos: Kawann Short, DT, Purdue
The Broncos spent a second-rounder this past April on Derek Wolfe, but he's playing defensive end and moving inside on nickel situations. That's why Denver still needs a ton of help at defensive tackle. Kawann Short has been a monster for Purdue this season.
Pick change; previously Marcus Lattimore, RB
-
Detroit Lions: Eric Reid, S, LSU
The Lions take the best player available, and that, by my estimation, would be Eric Reid. It's no secret that Detroit has major holes in its secondary, particularly at strong safety. Amari Spievey needs to be upgraded.
Pick change; previously Barrett Jones, C/G
-
Dallas Cowboys: Jackson Jeffcoat, DE/OLB, Texas
Anthony Spencer will be a free agent in March. I don't envision the Cowboys giving him the long-term deal he covets because he's way too inconsistent, so they'll have to find a new pass-rusher across from DeMarcus Ware.
-
Buffalo Bills: Tyler Bray, QB, Tennessee
Tyler Bray is back in my 2013 NFL Mock Draft! He'd be better served going back to school for another year, but as we've seen this summer, he doesn't make the best decisions in the world.
I think the Bills will have to talk themselves into making this pick. It's pretty apparent now that Ryan Fitzpatrick is way too limited to win consistently in the NFL - SMH at Buffalo's front office for not recognizing this sooner - so if the team wants to move forward and contend with New England on a yearly basis, it'll have to find a franchise quarterback.
-
San Diego Chargers: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State
Both Quentin Jammer and Antoine Cason will be free agents following this season. The Chargers will have to find some reinforcements at cornerback if they lose either defender.
-
Seattle Seahawks: Brennan Williams, OT, North Carolina
The Seahawks have seemed to give up on former first-round pick James Carpenter as a right tackle, as they've announced that they want him as their starting left guard when he returns from injury. This means that they'll have to address their big hole at right tackle.
-
Arizona Cardinals: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
This is a pretty obvious selection. The Cardinals have pressing offensive line issues that they'll absolutely need to resolve next spring. If they want to keep Kevin Kolb at quarterback, they'll need to protect him because he's so brittle.
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina
The Steelers will never shy away from taking a talented skill-position player in the first round. They'll have to make a tough decision on Rashard Mendenhall, who will be a free agent next spring. They'll probably opt to go in a different direction at running back because Mendenhall has not proven that he can stay healthy.
Pick change; previously Terrance Williams, WR
-
New England Patriots: Barrett Jones, G/C/OT, Alabama
Bill Belichick loves versatile offensive linemen. Barrett Jones can play four positions up front, including center and guard. This is key because the Patriots need to do something about the interior of their offensive front. Tom Brady is getting killed because of poor blocking.
Pick change; previously T.J. McDonald, S
-
Green Bay Packers: Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame
Jermichael Finley will be due close to $8 million in 2013, and Packer fans could be happier about that because Finley is one of the most overrated players in the NFL. He's terribly inconsistent and doesn't appear as though he'll ever live up to expectations.
-
San Francisco 49ers: Johnathan Jenkins, NT, Georgia
The 49ers have a fantastic defense, but one thing they're missing is a quality nose tackle. They don't really need one based on the formations they play, but this is a luxury pick they can afford to make because they have so few needs.
-
Baltimore Ravens: Chance Warmack, G, Alabama
Ozzie Newsome always seems to find value on Draft Day, and that's exactly what he gets here in Chance Warmack, who could easily go around the 20th pick. He's an outstanding guard prospect and would project to be a very worthy replacement for Ben Grubbs.
Pick change; previously Taylor Lewan, OT
-
New York Giants: T.J. McDonald, S, USC
The Giants have issues in their secondary. Josh Freeman looked awesome against them, which is troubling after how terribly he played at Dallas. Kenny Phillips will be entering free agency next spring, so he'll need a replacement if he's not retained.
Pick change; previously Alex Okafor, DE
-
Atlanta Falcons: Alex Okafor, DE, Texas
John Abraham was re-signed to a team-friendly deal this offseason, which means the Falcons can cut him if he regresses. Ray Edwards, meanwhile, has been a huge disappointment. Defensive end will be a possibility early in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Pick change; previously Chance Warmack, G
-
Houston Texans: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
The Texans were interested in bringing in a right tackle early in the 2012 NFL Draft, but they never got the chance. Well, here's their opportunity. The position will have to be addressed if Rashad Butler can't properly fill in for Eric Winston.
Pick change; previously Jesse Williams, NT
