What Teams SHOULD Do

Round 1

Picks 17-32
17. Bengals: Walter Nolen, DT, Ole Miss

Another match with my other mock, I don't mind the baked-in risk of possible character concerns here, given the immense upside in the middle of the 1st Round.

18. Seahawks: Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

Yes, Seattle has dire iOL concerns, but with 2 picks in the 2nd Round, let's get them the pterodactyl-like ball skills of McMillan on the outside. Cooper Kupp is obviously a big name, but he's more name than game at this point, and MVS is just a 1-year play. Tet and JSN into the future, then.

19. Buccaneers: Jihaad Campbell, LB, Alabama

Another match to my other mock. If Campbell does happen to miss some time this year, that's OK; he's a stud, and he can step into Lavonte David's shoes soon. (And play alongside him this year when he's ready.)

20. Broncos: TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State

I think the Broncos will pick Omarion Hampton. However, I would pick Henderson instead. I just think he's going to be better in the NFL, as a Jahmyr Gibbs-type who can flip a game on 15 touches.

21. Steelers: Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State

Not only would Egbuka be a great fit for Aaron Rodgers (should he sign), but he has "solid pro" written all over him. Plus, George Pickens is not long for the club.

22. Chargers: Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan

A unique weapon for Justin Herbert here, as Loveland could be a better pure receiver than Tyler Warren.

23. Packers: Prospect not selected

As I mentioned earlier in the blurb about the Dolphins, let's assume that the Packers have acquired Tyreek Hill to take care of the WR need. I don't love the CB value here, so why not a player that DC Jeff Hafley is very familiar with?

24. Vikings: Nick Emmanwori, S, South Carolina

The Vikings could trade down, given their paucity of draft picks this year. However, they also don't have many holes, but one of them is at safety. Maybe Emmanwori will bust, but that kind of athleticism literally doesn't come around, ever. Let's see what Brian Flores can do with him.

25. Texans: Donovan Jackson, G, Ohio State

The Texans are rumored to be in on Tyler Booker and Josh Conerly Jr., and not necessarily Josh Simmons due to character issues. Well, how about Simmons' teammate instead, who not only projects to be a rock-solid guard, but who kicked outside to LT in Simmons' stead last year for the national champs? I prefer him to Booker.

26. Rams: Omarion Hampton, RB, North Carolina

The Rams can, and should, do better than Kyren Williams as their lead back. Here's a bolt of lightning.

27. Ravens: Shemar Stewart, DE, Texas A&M

Baltimore had success with Odafe Oweh, a similar moldable piece of athletic clay that was unrefined coming out of Penn State. Stewart is an even better athlete.

28. Lions: Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan

Detroit hits on the DL need with Grant, the in-state product.

29. Commanders: Mykel Williams, DE, Georgia

This is the appropriate range for Williams, the lengthy pass rusher out of Georgia who didn't test as well as one may have hoped, athletically.

30. Bills: Carson Schwesinger, LB, UCLA

No, Schwesinger is not going in the 1st Round. But he's one of my favorite players in this draft, and if he had more than 1 year of the production that he showed last year, he would have been. And he tested excellently, to boot. Buffalo's defense has been noticeably worse whenever Matt Milano can't play, which is often.

31. Chiefs: James Pearce Jr., DE/OLB, Tennessee

A nice value for KC here, with a gifted pass rusher being available at 31.

32. Eagles: Tyler Booker, G, Alabama

A great fit for Philly's smashmouth style, Booker steps right in for Mekhi Becton at RG.
