2021 NFL Mock Draft Vol 5

First Round 

1. New York Jets- Trevor Lawrence QB Clemson

• The Jets are going to take Lawrence here despite some rumors of him returning to school. I think in the climate we are in with COVID and the uncertainty that it will be gone by next year’s season that he might be better off just going to the Jets instead of wasting another prime year in college. For the Jets sake I think they could be on the verge of something special even for this snake bitten franchise. New GM Joe Douglas knows what he is doing by landing two great players in last year’s draft in Mekhi Becton and Denzel Mims along with solid other depth options. If he can find an Eric Bienemy or Matt Eberflus type of solid coach to right the ship this could become a great franchise for Lawrence to land with. The roster is better than their record shows, but I am sure a lot of players are just sick of Adam Gase and Greg Williams to the point where they gave up starting Week 1. 

2. Jacksonville Jaguars - Justin Fields QB Ohio St

• I am not as sold on Fields as the rest of the country is, but I highly doubt he does not go number two when the draft rolls around. He does have a great arm with excellent touch to go along with solid mobility in the pocket. I just do not think Buckeye quarterbacks translate to the NFL coming from a quarterback friendly offensive scheme with excellent talent across the board. We have seen former Buckeye quarterbacks like J.T. Barrett, Cardale Jones, Braxton Miller, Dwayne Haskins, and others all light it up at Columbus, but look severely overmatched in the NFL. Maybe Fields can buck that trend, but to be honest it might not even matter since Jacksonville is the lowest draw in the NFL when it comes to tv viewers. Even if he is good we may never know with his lack of primetime games. 

3. Cincinnati Bengals - Penei Sewell OT Oregon

• This is honestly the only bright spot that has come from that devastating knee injury Joe Burrow suffered. When he is healthy and able to come back he should at least be happy to know he now has a top flight blindside protector. Unfortunately, Burrow is more than likely not going to be back on the field for the Bengals until the 2022 season. He not only tore his ACL, but also damaged his MCL and other ligaments. In the best case scenario, they can maybe land another top pick to then go and grab a premier edge rusher, receiver, or another blocker from next year’s draft class. As for Sewell, he might be the safest pick in the draft even more so than Lawrence who needs a bit more to succeed. Sewell is a plug and play star similar to the likes of Tyrone Smith and Quenton Nelson. 

4. Los Angeles Chargers - Micah Parsons LB Penn State

• The biggest mystery of the draft is Micah Parsons and where he could go. He opted out this season, but now he is looking like a genius with how bad Penn State has played. However, had he played he definitely would have been able to solidify his draft stock as the best defensive player in the draft. He honestly is a better version of Isaiah Simmons from last year due to his status as a known commodity. Unlike Simmons who many were not sure where to put him, Parsons from Day 1 will be put at the middle linebacker spot and take off. He is an athletic specimen with a high IQ to the point where he can reclaim Penn State’s hold on the “Linebacker U” moniker. As for the Chargers, they actually have a pretty good roster, but certainly need a coaching change with Anthony Lynn looking severely overmatched each week. With this high pick they can just go with the best player available and Parsons would also fill a need, finally giving the Chargers a stud in the middle of their defense. 

5. Dallas Cowboys - Zach Wilson QB BYU

• I know there is going to be a ground swell to retain Dak Prescott, but the Cowboys need to be realistic and realize they need to do a bit of a rebuild. Their o-line is in shambles, and their defense is a sive in the run and pass game. No way does paying Dak Prescott $40 million a year going to help solve those issues. Maybe if they get rid of a few bad contracts like Amari Cooper, Zeke Elliott, and DeMarcus Lawrence, but I doubt that happens. Adding a rookie quarterback like Zach Wilson on that rookie deal would be really ideal here. I know Wilson did not look good against Coastal Carolina, but the circumstances for that game was so odd that I will give him a pass on that. In normal circumstances he reminds me a bit of Carson Wentz and Patrick Mahomes with his ability to move in the pocket and throw off balance. I can see him being a quarterback somewhere in between both of those guys where he has better decision making than Wentz, but certainly not as gifted arm talent wise as Mahomes. For Dallas he can be a nice fresh start under center without the cloud of Dak’s contract over the franchise. 

6. Philadelphia Eagles - Ja’Marr Chase WR LSU

• The Eagles and the Chargers are the two prime candidates to trade down with quarterback needy teams. At this juncture the best fit for the Eagles is Ja’Marr Chase, but after just taking Jalen Reagor with the first pick last year they may prefer moving down to land a blocker at a more ideal position in the draft order. I do not predict trades with their volatility and many moving parts. So with the Eagles staying here, taking Chase does make a lot of sense with Reagor’s lack of development this year. Chase provides an outside presence with his size, speed, and natural receiving ability that Reagor just does not possess. Maybe Reagor will also benefit with Chase taking some attention and allow him to just maximize his talent as a deep threat. 

7. Carolina Panthers - Trey Lance QB North Dakota State

• This may be the most ideal landing spot for Lance who’s biggest negative is a lack of experience. Not often do one year starters really workout in the NFL just ask Dwayne Haskins, Mitchell Trubisky, and Mark Sanchez how that went. Lance will be facing that same uphill battle if he is expected to play right away. Landing in Carolina where he can sit and learn behind Teddy Bridgewater would be great. Bridgewater essentially signed a two-year deal last offseason with his third year being a team option if they want to keep him around. By all intents and purposes there has never been much negative being spoken about Bridgewater and even better is his lack of a big ego. He will more than certainly be willing to teach the young rookie despite Lance being the heir apparent to take his job. This will also give Matt Rhule someone he can develop and label as “his” guy moving forward. 

8. Atlanta Falcons - Gregory Rousseau DE Miami

• Here we go again with the Falcons taking an edge rusher with the first pick. We have seen it time and time again for the Falcons. None of the previous attempts have worked out and in fact all those guys are off the roster as well. Maybe a new head coach can turn that bad luck around, but who knows they have not had a top edge rusher since Jonathan Abraham almost a decade ago. Rousseau decided to opt out on the season, which to me was the wrong decision. Like Trey Lance he is a one year wonder, but as a pass rusher, which is not as serious as a quarterback. However, it’s still a little worrisome for me to take him in the top 10. We have seen edge rushers before have one great season, but fail to string them along consistently to the next season and the next. Even in the NFL we have seen it with the Falcons no less with Vic Beasly who was once the sack leader in the league. Maybe he is more than a one year wonder, but to me it’s a huge risk to take here. 

9. Miami Dolphins (via Houston Texans) - DeVonta Smith WR Alabama

• I would prefer a blocker here, but there really are not any other blockers outside of Sewell who are top 10 pick worthy. Instead, the Dolphins could return to Alabama and provide Tua Tagovailoa with one of his favorite targets in DeVonta Smith. I know the speedy Jaylen Waddle is considered the better of the two Crimson Tide receivers in this draft, but Smith to me is just consistently great. He is a more natural receiver with his crisp routes, great hands, and ability to high point passes. If you ask me even in a crowded line up last year with Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs, and Waddle, Smith was still able to stand out each week. I would not be shocked if he is the best among them. With DeVante Parker and Preston Williams the addition of DeVonta Smith could give them one of the best receiver trios in the league when everyone is healthy.

10.   Washington Football Team - Patrick Surtain II CB Alabama

• Of course a quarterback could be on the docket here, but if Alex Smith can bring this team to the playoffs he might have earned another chance at the job next year. Ron Rivera despite being nicknamed Riverboat Ron still prefers his quarterbacks to be conservative with the ball and take care of it. Hence the switch from the erratic Dwayne Haskins to Kyle Allen and then Smith who both do a good job taking care of the ball. I could also see them go after a veteran like Dak Prescott, Matthew Stafford, or Jimmy Garoppolo if any of them become available. Instad, with this pick they can land a shutdown corner to fit a big role in Rivera’s defense. He has always had one great corner during his time in Carolina and despite bringing back the mediocre Kendall Fuller they could still use a better option to take on number one receivers. Surtain could certainly do that as a high floor corner in this class. 

11.   Denver Broncos - Caleb Farley CB Virginia Tech 

• I have no clue honestly what John Elway and the Broncos would do here. He is so quick to change quarterbacks that it would not be shocking if he takes a guy like Kyle Trask or Mac Jones here. Especially, with his love of drafting from blue blood colleges throughout his time as the acting GM in Denver. However, I think sticking with Lock for one more year with a proper offseason with practices and workouts will be beneficial for him moving forward. Instead, with this pick if Vic Fangio is still here I think going after a corner for his defense would be a great pick. Even with A.J. Bouye back and playing better a new young corner could still be in the plans here. Bryce Callahan is too often injured to rely on any more. Plus, when both were out their cornerback depth did nothing to prove they are good enough to stay on the roster. Farley is another player who probably should not have opted out as a newcomer to the corner position after being a receiver, but he possesses maybe the most upside in the first round compared to any other prospect. He has the ball skills, athleticism, and quickness to turn into a great option across from Bouye. 

12.   Detroit Lions - Jaylen Waddle WR Alabama

• I am not convinced that the Lions are prepared to move on from Matthew Stafford just yet. Maybe if they can get a few first round picks, but I doubt they will since whoever trades for him will probably need to take most of that contract. I also doubt the Lions flat out cut him and eat the rest of his contract with this new ownership group and the lowering salary cap that is coming this offseason. Instead, one more year with the veteran with the hopes of a new coach to spark some wins being the best bet for next year. Maybe bringing in a speedy over the top option like Jaylen Waddle could help there. Marvin Jones will probably be a veteran salary cap cut candidate this offseason and with Kenny Golladay set to be a free agent they should certainly look at the receiver market. With his season lost to injury I am sure Golladay would welcome a franchise tag. Still, Waddle will add that speed and explosiveness that seems to always be lacking from this offense. 

13.   Chicago Bears - Kyle Trask QB Florida 

• I doubt many in Chicago would have a problem moving on from Ryan Pace, Matt Nagy, and Mitchell Trubisky this offseason. They need a fresh start overall after how bad this season has turned after starting the year 5-1. Now mired in a 6 game losing streak it seems like all hope is lost with even their terrific defense looking disinterested and lethargic. I am sure Nagy calling them out after carrying the team the past three years played well in the defensive locker room. In any case, a new quarterback will be needed to spark hope here. Trask is enjoying a Joe Burrow-esque Senior year that has seemingly come out of nowhere this year. He is a terrific pocket passer with great ability to analyze the field and go through his reads. His arm is also top notch along with good size. The biggest detractor is his lack of mobility, but there have been a few times this year where he got the first down with his legs. I see him as a similar style player to Big Ben at the quarterback position. 

14.   San Francisco 49ers - Christian Darrisaw OT Virginia Tech

• The Trent Williams experiment is going as expected for the 49ers in my opinion. They did win the trade sort of with how cheap they got him, but he has done as much for them as he had for Washington in previous years. He is again in the IR and with his contract running out at the end of the season he might be one and done in the Bay Area. The 49ers would be wise to find a cheaper and younger option to find a proper heir apparent to the recently retired Joe Staley. Darrisaw has enjoyed a spike up draft boards thanks to his improvement this year from last year, but also his natural athletic upside. He is still developing his technique to become a great blocker and once he gets there he should be one of the best at his position. 

15.   Arizona Cardinals - Kwity Paye OLB/DE Michigan

• The Cardinals have a nice young defensive core with Budda Baker, Byron Murphy, Isaiah Simmons, and if they bring him back De’Vondre Campbell. However, their edges and pass rush could use a lot of work. With Chandler Jones out their pass rush is practically nonexistent for the most part. Sure Haasan Reddick is finally flashing a bit at the edge, but I am always weary of first rounders who look great during a contract year. Even if they bring him back on a team friendly deal a new pass rusher is still needed. One rapid riser of this draft has been Kwity Paye who has shown to be more than just a run stopper and edge setter. He wins with great technique, a high motor, and power. His speed is not the best, but he is a consistent threat on every down. What makes him even more dangerous is his ability to move inside at tackle on obvious passing downs thanks to his strength and power. He reminds me of a better version of Shaq Lawson, Derek Barnett, and Takk McKinley, all who went in the first round throughout the years with a similar skillset. 

16.   New England Patriots - Kyle Pitts TE Florida

• A quarterback could be a real possibility here, but I can also see them bringing back Cam Newton for one more season with a full offseason to work. Instead, they can look to provide Newton or whoever they have under center some new young weapons. Having a passing attack consisting of Julian Edelman, N’Keal Harry, and no one else is basically the reason why Brady left in the first place. I know Belichick has had a bad time finding receivers through the draft and seems better scouting them in the pros from other rosters rather than out of college. What he has done a good job in is finding good tight ends out of college. An easy find here would be drafting Kyle Pitts who to me is one of the safer picks in the draft, but tight ends out of the first round have not really done much in the pros of late. Maybe Pitts who is more receiver than tight end would be a great find here. Pitts is also more than willing to be a blocker as well despite being just okay at it. His ability in space has many seeing him as the second coming of Antonio Gates. 

17.  Baltimore Ravens - Wyatt Davis OG Ohio State

• A guard is not a flashy pick here, but a wise one for a Ravens squad that lost Marshal Yanda to retirement last offseason. Losing his presence along the line is quite obvious this year with their lack of explosion in the run game and lack of time for Lamar Jackson to operate in the pocket. They also have their standout center Matt Skura up for free agency and they have seemed to be reluctant to give their centers big extensions the past few years. Not often is there a guard worthy enough of being a first round pick, but Wyatt Davis has the ability to be a high first rounder at that. He is a road grader who can blow open holes in the run game, but also nimble footed in the passing game. His ability to anchor against bigger tackles will be a great addition in a gritty AFC North. 

18.   Las Vegas Raiders - Carlos Basham DE Wake Forest

• Well it seems like the Raiders search for a blue chip pass rusher continues post Khalil Mack trade. Whoever wants to say the Raiders won that trade needs to take into account the draft picks now of guys like Damon Arnette, Clellin Ferrell, and Jonathan Abrams none of whom look like long term guys just yet. The Ferrell pick hurts the most since they passed up on a better edge rusher in Josh Allen who would have been a nice replacement for Mack. Instead, they need to keep looking and might need to reach on a guy like Basham in a weaker pass rusher class. However, reaching on a talent like Basham is not that much of a stretch with his solid season and improvements from last year. He might not be a good fit as a stand up edge rusher, but his length and size is great for a base end that could flip inside at the five-technique if needed. His high motor, leadership, and grittiness will play well within the Raiders organization. 

19.  New York Giants - Pat Freiermuth TE Penn State

• I am not as high on guys like Rashod Bateman, Rondale Moore, and Terrace Marshall like others are. To me they seem more like second round caliber talents, but there is no question all three could be high priority prospects for a Giants roster lacking vertical weapons. Darius Slayton is their only long term option to grow and develop with Daniel Jones, but he is at best a second maybe even a third option on most teams. He is a nice outlet to lean on in the intermediate and middle of the field areas. Instead of a middle of the road receiver, why not find a healthier and more consistent option at tight end. Evan Engram was a previous regime’s pick and has not really been consistent enough for Daniel Jones to rely on. Sure he gets a lot of targets as one of their best receivers, but his drops and lackadaisical play is a big hindrance on their offense. Plus, they flirted with trading him this past offseason and trade deadline. I am sure they are ready to move on from him. Freiermuth is a big, strong, and athletic tight end that has many seeing a second coming of Gronk. He should test well leading up to the draft since unfortunately good tape will be hard to find from Penn State’s offense this year. 

20.   Minnesota Vikings - Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah LB Notre Dame

• Linebacker might not seem that high of a need for the Vikings, but I would not be shocked if there is an overhaul there this offseason. Eric Wilson, one of their studs there is a free agent this offseason. Who might be hard to retain due to their poor cap situation. Same goes for Anthony Barr who might be a cut candidate this offseason with his injury history and big contract that is looking like an albatross right now. They also flirted with dealing their leader of the defense Eric Kendricks at the deadline. So new blood will be needed here to stabilize what has been an overall disappointing defense this season. Owusu-Koramoah has been a lightning rod for the Fighting Irish defense flying all over the field making big splash plays on each drive as a consistent tackler and cover linebacker. He could be a rare first round linebacker similar to guys like Roquan Smith who fit the modern day mold at linebacker. 

21.   Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Jalen Mayfield OT Michigan 

• The Bucs found a solid right tackle with Tristan Wirfs in last year’s draft. Despite being quite inconsistent throughout his rookie year, I do believe he will turn out to be a pretty good blocker. However, that only solved one side of the line for Brady. Donovan Smith over at the left tackle spot has been about below league average at the position for quite some time now. There are a few options to be had here with Jalen Mayfield, Sam Cosmi, and Alex Leatherwood who all make sense. I would favor the Michigan product who has proven to be a starting caliber left tackle at the next level. He has the size, experience, technique, and athleticism to really excel there. If you have any doubts, his tape against Chase Young should prove he is worthy of a first round selection. 

22.   Miami Dolphins - Alex Leatherwood OL Alabama 

• Alex Leatherwood’s stock has been fluctuating for quite some time now even starting last year when he was considered a high second round selection. I think one of the issues for him is that he is a bit of a Jack of all trades, but a master of none type of talent. He has played at every spot along the line from center to right guard to right tackle and now at left tackle. Playing well at each spot he at least has a fall back plan if left tackle is not in his future in the NFL. For the Dolphins they need to do everything in their power to keep Tua Tagovailoa upright and comfortable in the pocket. The additions of Austin Jackson, and Robert Hunt are more long term project type talents who should become more quality starters next season. Adding a versatile blocker who can fill in where needed like Leatherwood could be an ultimate luxury in a league with poor blocker depth. 

23.   Indianapolis Colts - Jaycee Horn CB South Carolina

• The Colts defense will more than certainly take a step back once their great defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus lands a head coaching gig this offseason. He has never really had a top flight talent on his side of the ball, but continually schemes up a great defense each week and gets the most out of his players. One of his best reclamation jobs so far has been the rebirth of Xavier Rhodes who looks better than he has in years, but on a one year deal so who knows if he keeps it up on a long term deal or tries to turn it around and get a bigger deal elsewhere. They do have two nice secondary corners in Rock Ya-Sin and Kenny Moore, but neither are true number one caliber corners. Jaycee Horn reminds me a ton of another former Gamecock Stephon Gilmore. Both were late and slow bloomers in college. They also both have similar games winning with length, and quickness to keep their receivers in check. I think Horn here should be one of the safer picks of the draft. A quarterback could also be taken here, but I feel like Rivers will be here for more than one year. If he is not I can see them being a big player in the Dak Prescott sweepstakes if he becomes a free agent. 

24.   Tennessee Titans - Joseph Ossai OLB Texas

• Coach Mike Vrabel has tried the past few years to find a consistent pass rush during his time in Tennessee. He drafted Harold Landry who looked great as a rookie, but has now plateaued the last few years. They brought in Vic Beasley, a former league leader in sacks, to hopefully revitalize his career, but he continues to be a lackluster option on the edge. Maybe the most disappointing of all has to be Jadeveon Clowney who continues to be poor in getting after the quarterback. Sure he is a great talent in the run game, but his lack of a motor and never really maximizing his skillset so far into his career I doubt he ever hits the peak everyone expected him to. That being said, another swing at it in the draft to find some pass rush has to be done here. Ossai has shot up draft boards thanks to his athletic versatility as a capable off ball linebacker, as well as being a terrific edge rusher. He is also fairly new to the game so more development and upside is here to turn into a terrific defender. 

25.   New York Jets (via Seattle Seahawks) - Travis Etienne RB Clemson

• Would it not make a ton of sense for the Jets to reunite the pair of Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne in New York. Both fill huge needs on their offense. Clearly Lawrence gives them a franchise quarterback, but to make it easier for him they can give him one of the most electrifying backs to come into the NFL in a while. Etienne is a rare first round caliber running back thanks to his similar playing ability as Alvin Kamara who might be the best back in the NFL. The Clemson product might be even more dynamic than Kamara with his better balance and power between the tackles as a runner. He is electric as a pass catcher and should be credited a lot for Lawrence’s success in college. 

26.   Jacksonville Jaguars (via Los Angeles Rams) - Rashod Bateman WR Minnesota

• When you draft a new young quarterback you normally come around and bring in new talent on offense to help him out. Whether it’s a new receiver, tight end or blocker they normally follow shortly after a quarterback is taken. A receiver makes sense here for the Jags with Keelan Cole and Chris Conley set for free agency. As well as, former rookie bright spot Dede Westbrook seemingly disappearing from their offense. Leaving Laviska Shenault Jr and D.J. Chark as their top duo. Shenault has been up and down as a rookie. While Chark has been injury prone and just as inconsistent with his best ability being a deep threat. Adding a bigger option like Bateman to the outside to kick Chark inside to the slot could give them a great trio of young receivers for Justin Fields to work with. I see Bateman as a similar prospect to Michael Pittman from last year. It would not be shocking to see him fall into the 2nd round. 

27.   Buffalo Bills - Shaun Wade CB Ohio State

• The Bills have one of the best schemed defenses thanks in part to their great head coach Doug McDermott who oversees that side of the ball. Unfortunately, with their focus to surround Josh Allen with more talent on offense it has come at the expense of their defense. They are still schemed well, but they lack any top notch playmaker on that side outside of the quietly great Tre’Davious White. There has been a big need to find him a proper running mate for a while now with Levi Wallace and Taron Johnson being at best second and third options. While, the loudmouth Josh Norman is nowhere as good as he once was down in Carolina. One late round gem could be Shaun Wade who would have been a lock first rounder last year on potential alone. He has had a bit of an up and down season this year, but I chalk that up to him opting out at first before returning when the Big 10 decided to play again. I love his versatility where he can play outside, in the slot, or at the safety spot. He would give McDermott a nice chess piece to match up with. 

28.   Cleveland Browns - Eric Stokes CB Georgia

• The Browns are another team that could use more talent at the corner spot moving forward. They do have one solid option at Denzel Ward despite his injury issues. However, they have bigger injury issues with Greedy Williams who has rarely seen the field in his brief career thus far. In a division with a pass happy Bengals, and Steelers the Browns need to have multiple top options at corner. Also ones who can contribute in the run game when they face off with the Ravens. Stokes is a big outside corner who can add some size to their smaller cornerback room. He is a terrific corner in the red zone and locking down quicker receivers with his mirroring ability. His only downside is his lack of playmaking on the ball, but with a strong pass rush like he will have in Cleveland he might be able to develop into being stronger in that aspect. 

29.   Green Bay Packers - Creed Humphrey C Oklahoma

• I feel the outrage already with people clamouring for a first round receiver for Aaron Rodgers. The funny thing is, his best receiver Davante Adams was actually a second rounder. Same goes for past top options Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, and Jermichael Finley. All of whom were some of his top receivers. So instead of another receiver, I think Rodgers would prefer a clean pocket where he can be deadly with any receiver if he is given time to scan the field. With David Bakhtiari locked up they still have both Corey Linsley and Lane Taylor up for free agency I doubt they keep both. I would not be shocked if they do not keep either in fact with the salary cap lowering and the franchise being historically tight with their wallet. Bringing a new center will be needed with Linsley gone and being one the best at his position. Humphrey is a strong first round option who is a great value pick here. He is a big, experienced, and talented center who can be a great addition in front of Rodgers. 

30.   Kansas City Chiefs - Terrace Marshall WR LSU

• The Chiefs have the luxury of having the best quarterback in the game allowing them to either reach on a need or just take the best player available here. Which makes them maybe the hardest team to predict when it comes to the draft moving forward. One move I can see them making is to continue to load up the offense around Mahomes. It makes sense too with Sammy Watkins up for free agency and Mecole Hardman not developing or getting into rhythm with Mahomes as well as they had hoped he would. Maybe adding a better intermediate option to attack the middle of the field on the outside can add more wrinkles to their offense. Marshall has a terrific blend of size, speed, and strength that should have him firmly as a first rounder. He should bring some size to a smaller receiver group as well as a more well rounded route runner than Hardman who is essentially only a deep route runner. It might seem like a luxury taking a receiver here, but the Chiefs are able to do that thanks to Mahomes being the greatest eraser to hide some deficiencies on the roster thanks to his greatness. 

31.   New Orleans Saints - Mac Jones QB Alabama

• I would not be shocked if neither Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill were the long term starters down in New Orleans. Sure Sean Payton looks like a genius right now with Hill, but I think it’s more about his schemes and offensive line rather than Hill being an actual good quarterback. He has the benefit playing behind one of the best lines in football with maybe the best back and wide receiver. We have seen Teddy Bridgewater look great with the same mix of talent. I doubt at 31 that Hill suddenly becomes a franchise quarterback. Instead, bringing in Mac Jones could be a sneaky good pick here. Despite putting together a Heisman type season many are still doubtful of Jones’ ability for the next level. He is being knocked for the talent around him making him great, but he has looked better than even Tua Tagovailoa or A.J. McCarron at this point if you ask me. I loved his ability to step in the past few years when Tua got hurt and still keeping this team playing at a high level showed how good he could be. Now with a full offseason to prepare to be the regular starter he looks much more comfortable and capable of being a franchise quarterback. Do not be shocked if under Sean Payton that he becomes the second best quarterback from this class behind Trevor Lawrence. 

32.   Pittsburgh Steelers - Hamlicar Rashed Jr DE Oregon

• Bud Dupree is an impending free agent and with Pittsburgh’s already poor cap situation with a lowering cap this offseason will allow them to bring him back. Especially, with how great he was playing this year prior to his season ending injury. Sure he can be brought back on the franchise tag, but that would still be a big cap hit with him playing such a premier position on the edge. Instead, a savvy organization like the Steelers could just find his replacement late in the first round in the same range that they found Dupree in the first place. Rashed is a similar talent as a power rusher, but he is a lot longer and faster than Dupree was coming out of college. He is a ferocious athlete off the edge bringing it on every down despite having raw technique. His upside and the Steelers coaching staff could really turn him into another top edge rusher like they have done with Dupree and T.J. Watt. 

Second Round 

33.   New York Jets - Samuel Cosmi OT Texas

• The Jets continue to build up the offensive line for their impending franchise signal caller Trevor Lawrence. Cosmi has first round caliber traits as a terrific athlete at the tackle spot. However, I can see him slip a bit due to his finesse nature in the run game. For the Jets he has to be better in that aspect since he will be at the right tackle spot with Mekhi Becton flashing high end talent at the left tackle spot. For what it’s worth Cosmi has improved each year in college and with hopefully a better coaching staff in New York he could continue that trend into the pros. 

34.   Jacksonville Jaguars - Christian Barmore DT Alabama

• The previous regime was quick to tear down what was once a great defense that was one game away from getting to the Super Bowl. They have done a good job finding two new edge rushers in Josh Allen and K’Lavon Chaisson who are two great young bright spots on defense. However, they could still use a more capable tackle in the middle to stuff the run and collapse the pocket. Barmore is your run of the mill high floor and steady tackle out of Alabama. He might not be flashy, but he will be a consistent playmaker and force at the next level. In a division with Derrick Henry, the Jags must stop him if they ever want to get back to the playoffs. 

35.    Cincinnati Bengals - Trey Smith OG/T Tennessee 

• Doubling up on blockers would not be a shocking move for the Bengals here. The most important thing they can do in what could be a lost season with Joe Burrow out is building up a better offensive line in front of him. They do land a top tackle in Penei Sewell who should be a perennial Pro Bowler for years to come. However, bringing in another talent in the same vein in Trey Smith could be a great value. Smith was once thought of as a premier prospect, but a blood clot has dampened his stock a bit. He has been healthy all season and proving to be a great blocker again. His best fit would be guard, but I would not be surprised if he can be a solid tackle in a pinch. 

36.   Los Angeles Chargers - Aidan Hutchinson DE Michigan

• More defensive help to keep the young Justin Herbert out of shootouts. I can see Herbert having a similar career as Matt Ryan if they keep giving up leads on defense. Despite being almost perfect as a pass Herbert, like Ryan has nothing so show for it. The only bright spot for Herbert is how young he is and hope that they can finally figure out how to close out games for a snakebitten Chargers franchise. Their pass rush could use some help with Melvin Ingram most likely gone as a free agent after they gave Joey Bosa that massive contract extension. Hutchinson is more of a five-technique end, but we have seen with guys like Aaron Donald and Akeim Hicks with how impactful they can be in the pass rush. I can see him being a nice option to push the disappointing Jerry Tillery on the inside. 

37.   Dallas Cowboys - Liam Eichenberg OT Notre Dame

• The Cowboys whether they draft a new quarterback or not need to overhaul this offensive line. Tyrone Smith is no longer his All-Pro self with his inability to stay healthy. Meanwhile, La’el Collins is also too often injured to be relied on any more. Overall, this offensive line is nowhere close to its former great self of only a few seasons ago. Eichenberg is a nice high floor blocker who has the pedigree, experience, and strength to be at the very least a top notch right tackle. He should be more than that with his excellent technique as a three year starter should have him a high priority on Day 2 for many teams. Sneaking into the first round is even capable for the Fighting Irish alum. 

38.   Philadelphia Eagles - Dylan Moses LB Alabama

• The Eagles once had a great linebacker trio of Mychal Kendricks, Nigel Bradham, and Jordan Hicks during their run to the Super Bowl. They were all heavy contributors behind what was a very strong defense that kept the team afloat with Carson Wentz down during that season. Now with all three out they have turned to converted safeties Alex Singleton and Nate Gerry to man the middle of the defense. Which has gone as poorly as many expected. Moses has the talent to be a high end caliber linebacker thanks to his IQ and athleticism to roam sideline to sideline. Unfortunately, last year’s ACL tear has him looking a step slower this season. Maybe one more year removed from that injury could have him playing at his normal high end ability prior to the injury. 

39.   Atlanta Falcons - Rondale Moore WR Purdue

• There is a big ground swell in Atlanta to move on from their highly paid and great receiver Julio Jones. The same goes for Matt Ryan, but moving on from Jones seems easier and more doable than moving on from Ryan. More teams will be willing to trade for Jones despite his big contract. He still has a few more seasons of high level play in him, but injuries and lack of touchdowns has been a drawback of late. With Calvin Ridley coming on strong it would not be shocking if having him gives them the confidence to let go of someone so talented like Jones. Even if they do keep Jones they do need better depth behind him and Ridley. Especially with both missing time the past two years due to injury. Moore’s deep threat ability and ability to be a gadget receiver could be a nice wrinkle to add to the Falcons offense. 

40.   Miami Dolphins (via Houston Texans) - Najee Harris RB Alabama 

• More familiar faces surround Tua Tagovailoa down in Miami. Not that it’s unneeded also with their lack of a go to running back to lean on. Myles Gaskin is a nice receiver, but at his size and injury history he is best as a change of pace back or a gadget back. Instead, a power back like Harris could be a nice addition to an offense lacking some grit. Harris to me is flying under the radar as a running back out of Alabama, which used to come with a lot of cache. One thing that stands out for Harris is his lack of mileage despite being down at Alabama for a while now, but he was used in a heavy rotation for most of it. He is a taller back, but the same goes for fellow alum Derrick Henry who looks just fine running upright. Harris is also a capable pass catcher, which is rare for Alabama running backs. 

41.  Carolina Panthers - Rashawn Slater OT Northwestern 

• Russell Okung was a nice pick up for the Panthers who I think won the deal since Trai Turner is once again hurt for the Chargers. However, they do not come out huge winners since Okung is an older veteran who could end up retiring this offseason when his contract is up. If they want Teddy Bridgewater or Trey Lance in this mock to end up succeeding they need to get better along the line. Rashawn Slater is a high floor type of talent who is a safe type pick here. He reminds people a lot of Robert Hunt, but I think he is a better version since he could stay out at the left tackle spot. If anything he reminds me more of a Braden Smith if not a bit more athletic with his gritty, blue collar type attitude along the line. I can see him being a nice bookend to Taylor Moton who was a similar prospect a few years ago. 

42.   Denver Broncos - Desmond Ridder QB Cincinnati 

• Do not be shocked if John Elway gets a quick trigger finger again with his quarterback. I have no idea how someone like Elway who knows how hard the position is can be so quick to not give a quarterback time to develop. He also seems to have a bad eye for them. I am not set to say Drew Lock is a sunk cost just yet, but his immaturity and poor decision making, which was his biggest issue in college, is becoming his biggest issue in the pros. Talent wise he still has a ton of upside and maybe a full proper offseason can see him develop further into those talents. However, if he has some shaky starts to begin the year I would not be shocked if Elway moves to a guy like Ridder who he can find in the 2nd round again. Ridder is a dual threat quarterback that is becoming invogue in the NFL. He has a live arm that Elway loves and his high quality play this season should have him on his radar going into the draft. 

43.   Washington Football Team - Chris Olave WR Ohio State

• It’s mind boggling how the Washington Football Team without Antonio Gibson and a bracketed Terry McLaurin were able to pull out a victory over the Steelers. I know their defense is pretty solid, but their offense is led by only two consistent playmakers. McLaurin is one of the most underrated receivers in the league with his great routes, hands, and ability after the catch. What would help him become even greater would be a better compliment across from him than Stevie Sims or Cam Sims. Maybe going back to the Buckeye well with Olave would be a nice option. I think Olave reminds me a lot of previous Buckeye receivers like McLaurin and even Michael Thomas with his terrific routes and hands. He may not be a burner or speedster, but he knows his craft and will be a consistent option in the NFL. 

44.   Chicago Bears - Alijah Vera-Tucker OG USC

• I would prefer them to find a replacement for either Charles Leno or Bobbie Massie. The issue is that both still have a few years left on their deals. They both are still league respectable enough to pass off as quality starters. Massie has always been just okay, but what is most shocking is how bad Leno has played since getting his big contract extension. In any case, the right guard spot is wide open ever since Kyle Long retired and Germain Ifedi has done nothing to prove he should keep the job moving forward. Vera-Tucker is a terrific athlete at the guard spot and could be a first rounder when it’s all said and done. His effective run blocking should also help jump start what has been a disappointing run game to this point. While also being able to keep the pocket clean for whoever quarterbacks this team going forward, which in this case is Kyle Trask who they take in the first round.

45.   Detroit Lions - Derion Kendrick CB Clemson

• Losing Darius Slay was never going to be an easy thing to overcome, but what they have out there is not even good enough to be most teams second best options. Unlike Xavier Rhodes who revitalized his career, the same could not be said for Desmond Trufant who took a similar prove it deal in Detroit after multiple down years in Atlanta. In a division with strong receivers like Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, and Allen Robinson (if he is brought back in Chicago) is a must. Kendrick is a wild card at corner similar to what A.J. Terrell was coming into the draft. While I was not high on Terrell, I am high on Kendrick who was a former receiver and is still learning on the job. He possesses the size, athleticism, and ball skills to become a really good corner. 

46.   San Francisco 49ers - Jamie Newman QB Georgia 

• I am not sure what the 49ers do at quarterback will do this offseason. Clearly they are not high on Jimmy Garoppolo after flirting with Tom Brady despite Garoppolo taking them to the Super Bowl last year. Clearly health has been an issue for him after being hurt in New England in his few starts there and now the most of two seasons in San Fran. Maybe they go after a veteran like Matt Ryan or Kirk Cousins to reunite with Kyle Shanahan, but I think they could still be dangerous with a rookie quarterback. They are already pretty dangerous with Nick Mullens and a beat up defense. A talent like Jamie Newman certainly has more upside than Newman or even Garoppolo at this point. They would also have a fully loaded and healthy defense next year to win games like they were last year during their Super Bowl run. As for Newman he is a bit of a mystery after foolishly opting out this season where he would have finally had a big stage with Georgia after being hidden in an option offense over at Wake Forest. He possesses the size, arm, and mobility that has many seeing a possible second coming of Cam Newton. Landing in San Fran with Kyle Shanahan could be one of the best scenarios for the raw signal caller. 

47.   New England Patriots - Jackson Carman OT/G Clemson

• Improving the blocking could be high on the Patriots priority list this offseason. With Isaiah Wynn inconsistent and oft-injured, David Andrews also out of the lineup often, and Joe Thuney soon to be free agent due a big contract the whole unit could be seeing an overhaul this offseason. Bill Belichick loves his versatile linemen where he can move them and use them where they fit best. One great fit for them would be Jackson Carman who is a big mauling blocker who has been a long term left tackle for Clemson, but seems like a better fit for guard at the next level. His pedigree and being well coached at Clemson will be a big appeal for Belichick to bring him in. 

48.   Arizona Cardinals - Jay Tufele DT USC

• The Cardinals hoped to have a strong interior pass rusher with Zach Allen and Corey Peters in the middle of their defense. Unfortunately, the veteran Peters is out for the season and Allen has not been as good as people expected when he fell to the Cardinals in the second round a few years ago. In a division with Russell Wilson, Jared Goff, and the 49ers running attack having a stout interior that can stop the run as well as get after the passer is a big must have. Especially if they want to avoid shootouts that have been putting the smaller Kyler Murray in a lot of danger with teams finally figuring out how to contain him. Tufele is a difficult tackle to defend one on one and has the tenacity to be a terrific all around defender. He lacks experience and most of it not his fault with this stunted Pac 12 season. Had he had a full season to flash his talents he would have easily been a first rounder. In any case, he is an ideal pick for GM Steve Keim who often takes the best player available. 

49.   Baltimore Ravens - Jayson Oweh DE Penn State 

• The Ravens pass rush has not been as dangerous as years past. The duo of Tyus Bowser and Matt Judon have not been as consistent as they have been in the past. Meanwhile veterans Calais Campbell and Yannick Ngakoue have been nice additions, but both have not been as consistent in the passing game as they used to be. It also does not help that Bowser, Judon, and Ngakoue are all soon to be free agents this offseason. I doubt they retain all three and I would be shocked if they even bring back two of them. Oweh is a high end athlete who would fit in the Ravens mold of draft picks of late. They love to take height-weight-speed guys with their strong coaching staff able to develop them into good to great defenders.

50.   Las Vegas Raiders - Jevon Holland S Oregon

• What makes the Raiders not as dangerous and as talked about as a true playoff contender is their lack of playmakers on defense. They have some nice players like Nick Kwiatkoski, Corey Littleton, and Jonathan Abram in the back half of their defense. However, none are seen as true playmakers who can take the ball away or make big splash plays. I can see them drafting another younger and more explosive option at either position. Abram to me has been the most disappointing as a former first rounder who continues to hurt himself with him wanting to hit ball carriers harder than he has to. He is also a penalty issue with his aggressive play. Adding a safety who can play over the top of him like Holland could be a great addition. He is a solid tackler, but at his size he would maximize his talents as a center fielder taking the ball away. 

51.   New York Giants - Rashad Weaver OLB/DE Pittsburgh

• The Giants should look to get better on the edge with only Kyler Fackrell, Lorenzo Carter, and Carter Coughlin being okay options at the position. None are true consistent pass rushers that many opposing offenses have to worry about. Which is more concerning with how stout and powerful their interior line has been this year that should open up more opportunities for the edge guys. Weaver is a bigger end who can line up with his hand in the dirt or standing up as an edge rusher. He is a savvy pass rusher with nice technique and hand usage for such a big athlete. I can see him being an ideal fit for the Giants defense where they prefer size and strength. 

52.   Jacksonville Jaguars (via Minnesota Vikings) - Brevin Jordan TE Miami 

• The Jags have lacked a consistent tight end ever since Marcedes Lewis left a few years ago. Even then he was not that great towards the end of his career in Jacksonville. Most young quarterbacks love having a solid tight end to dump the ball off to when they are under pressure or when the coverage gets the best of them. Brevin Jordan is bringing back the “Tight End U” moniker that Miami used to have a stranglehold on over the previous decade. He is an athlete who can dominate as a mismatch tight end out in space. Also like Pitts despite being seen as more of a pass catcher, Jordan is more than willing to get after it as a blocker that would be nice to have in front of a young quarterback like Justin Fields. 

53.   Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Jordan Davis DT Georgia 

• I can see them going after a receiver here to appease Tom Brady, but I would focus on defense where Ndamukong Suh is a free agent along with many other players like Shaq Barrett and LaVonte David. I mention Suh first since he would be the easiest to replace. Losing Barrett or even David does not seem like a wise move for a defense that thrives off both of them leading it. Suh’s play has dropped off quickly ever since he left Detroit where he has become more name than actual talent at this point. Davis would be able to easily replace Suh with his higher energy and youth in the middle of their defense. His ability to stuff the run should be really appealing in a division with Alvin Kamara and Christian McCaffrey who can be headaches to slow down the two times a year the Bucs need to go against them. 

54.   Indianapolis Colts - Amon-Ra St.Brown WR USC

• The Colts go and dip into the USC well again to enhance their young receiving core. T.Y. Hilton is nowhere near as good as he once was and with him being a free agent this offseason I feel like a nice clean break is necessary between him and the team. Michael Pittman has shown nice flashes as a talented young receiver, but he missed a lot of time with an injury that stunted his development this year. He should be fine next year to be relied on as a number one target. We all know they need more than one to keep up as a modern day offense. Amon-Ra St.Brown is a similar player to Pittman, but an ideal fit as a slot option who can operate in the middle of the field. He is a fearless receiver willing to go over the middle and take a few shots. I see a lot of JuJu Smith-Schuster in his game where he has a high floor to always be a solid receiver in the NFL. 

55.   Tennessee Titans - Asante Samuel Jr CB Florida State

• The Titans did just draft Kristian Fulton in the second round last year to help out their secondary, but more help is still needed. Former first rounder Adoree Jackson has been way too injured to ever reach his potential and probably never will despite being so gifted athletically. Meanwhile, former Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler is looking like another bad free agent signing out of New England. I could see him being let go this offseason with a lowering salary cap. In any case, every team needs 2-3 great starting corners in this pass happy league. Especially a Titans squad that needs to compete with a dangerous Deshaun Watson. Samuel is a smaller, but sticky corner with great fluid hips and quick feet to stay with any receiver. As a son of a former Pro Bowler he is a great student of the game and possesses a ton of room to grow. 

56.  Miami Dolphins - Josh Myers C Ohio State

• Honestly, if the Dolphins went all offense in this draft I honestly would not blame them. As long as coach Brian Flores is there he can coach up anyone on defense to make them a good unit on that side of the ball. So loading up on talent to make sure Tua Tagovailoa is successful is just too important for this team to be successful. Like many teams they will only go as far as their young first round quarterback will take them. I liked what I saw from Tua, but even with a relatively clean pocket he still got nicked up this season. They bring in Alex Leatherwood as a swiss army knife blocker who can help all along the offensive line to go along with Austin Jackson and Robert Hunt from last year’s class. I also like Michael Deiter who has been a steady guard for them. Myers would be the final cherry on top of a strong young offensive line at the center position with his strong run blocking and high IQ as a pass blocker. 

57.   Los Angeles Rams - Azeez Ojulari OLB Georgia 

• Leonard Floyd has really looked good for the Rams this year flashing that potential we all saw from him as a former first rounder. With Chicago he was put on an island as a drop back cover man, but the Rams are using him properly as a true dangerous pass rusher. The only problem is that he is on a one year deal and the way he has played he now deserves a nice multi year deal. With the Rams having a tighter salary cap thanks to other guys like Jalen Ramsey and Aaron Donald being so highly paid. Ojulari is another athletic specimen on the edge similar to Floyd with his length and speed being his strongest calling card. Being only a redshirt sophomore it’s still very possible Ojulari returns to school, but with COVID possibly hanging over next season as well I wonder if he would decide the pros right now would be the safer choice. 

58.   Seattle Seahawks - Patrick Jones II DE Pittsburgh

• The only team that actually has missed Jadeveon Clowney being off their roster has been the Seahawks. They are so inconsistent off the edge that they would even take Clowney and his lack of true pass rushing ability. Former first rounder L.J. Collier has looked better down the stretch this year, but in a division with Jared Goff and Kyler Murray throwing the ball everywhere they need to have another strong pass rusher. It would also help to get past Patrick Mahomes who they will most likely meet in the Super Bowl for the next few years. Jones is a gritty, big, and powerful edge rusher who fits the mold that Pete Carroll wants from his defensive linemen. He is still growing into his frame as a longer and faster athlete that will allow him to only get better as he gets stronger. 

59.   Buffalo Bills - Jaelen Phillips DE Miami 

• As mentioned before the Bills went all out to get talent for Josh Allen on offense, but it came at the expense of losing guys like Shaq Lawson and Jordan Phillips along their defensive line. They need to refind a few more consistent edge rushers to get after the quarterback. Especially now in a division that has a young Tua Tagovailoa, and Trevor Lawrence to compete with now. It would also help keep Josh Allen out of shootouts where he becomes a bit reckless putting his body on the line when he leaves the pocket for a run where he lacks the awareness to protect himself. Phillips has really shined on the Miami defensive line thanks to Gregory Rousseau sitting out this season. He has even outshined his fellow teammate Quincy Roche who has been a lot more inconsistent. His natural ability and feel for the position along with his upside could make him an appealing second round pick for many teams. 

60.   Cleveland Browns - Marvin Wilson DT Florida State

• The Browns could use some more bite upfront with their defensive line. They have a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate with Myles Garrett, but the rest of the defensive front has been a bit lackluster. Guys like Olivier Vernon, Sheldon Richardson, and Larry Ogunjobi have all been nonfactors this season. Both Vernon and Ogunjobi are soon to be free agents. While Richardson is being paid too much for the lack of production he has put up, so being cut could be a real possibility for the veteran. The Browns love to draft former high profile prospects who slip in the draft like Grant Delpit and Greedy Williams over the years. Maybe they do it again here with Marvin Wilson who would be an ideal fit at the five-technique for their defense. He was once seen as a strong first rounder, but a down year on a bad team has had his star wane a little bit. I could see him being a great value pick here with his upside and pedigree as a strong interior disruptor. 

61.   Green Bay Packers - Jaylen Twyman DT Pittsburgh

• The Packers again avoid a receiver, but find a solution to their biggest problem on defense. They have been one of the worst run stopping defenses in the league this year. That should be really concerning since the best way to beat Rodgers is by keeping him off the field with a strong run game to eat at the clock. Sure they should get better there when Kenny Clark is healthy, but he was one the team last year when they were just as bad against the run so he was part of the issue then, too. Twyman is a high riser along with his teammate Rashad Weaver and Patrick Jones II where all three have been strong disruptors this year. I can see Twyman being a good value here with his upside and quickness as an interior rusher. He always plays with a high motor and keeps getting better each year. I doubt he misses in the NFL with his mentality. 

62.   Kansas City Chiefs - Deonte Brown OG Alabama

• Keeping the pocket clean for Patrick Mahomes is one of the only needs the Chiefs will probably have each year. Especially, with how inconsistent offensive lines are year to year. The Chiefs do have openings along the line with Laurent Duvernay-Tardiff being too smart to stay in the NFL as a budding doctor against COVID and Kelechi Osemele being one of their weaker blockers who is a soon to be free agent. Andrew Wylie has also been one of their weaker blockers. It helps a ton that Mahomes has some of the best escape ability and feel outside of the pocket in the game as a quarterback, but I doubt Andy Reid likes seeing him move like that putting himself in danger of getting hit. Brown is a mauler as a guard with a very high floor as an immediate starter out of the draft. He is an experienced blocker and the size to always be a solid blocker. His technique does need some more work as he is more of a brawler than a technician as a blocker. Andy Reid is one of the better coaches who gets the most out of his blockers so landing in KC is a great situation for Brown. 

63.  New Orleans Saints - Nick Bolton LB Missouri

• The Saints have been cycling linebackers to man the middle of their defense for many years now. Guys like A.J. Hawk, Kiko Alonso, Manti Te’o and now Kwon Alexander to add to their defense. None have been that strong and I doubt Alexander is a long term answer. Alex Anzalone has looked nice at times, but health has been a big issue for him as a reliable option on a solid defense. I think having a great linebacker to pair with DeMario Davis should elevate their defense even further and make it more consistent. Bolton is a modern day linebacker who excels in the passing game and with pretty good ball skills for a linebacker. He does have some issues with being over aggressive in trying to read routes, but he has gotten stronger each season. I can see him being a nice safe pick to find in the second round. 

64.   Pittsburgh Steelers - Javonte Williams RB UNC

• The Steelers have two big offensive playmakers hitting free agency in JuJu Smith-Schuster and James Conner. With them being up against the cap keeping both will be a real hard thing to do. I doubt they keep either to be totally honest. Conner is too often injured and a bit one dimensional as a runner to be brought back in on a long term extension. While, Smith-Schuster to me is just too immature and lackadaisical to give a big contract to. I know he is not as much of a knucklehead as Antonio Brown is, but I feel Smith-Schuster is content being where he is at as a receiver instead of being a true number one. In any case, with this being a weaker receiving class they can find a running back instead here. Williams is a nice sleeper back in this class with his pass catching ability and wiggle as a runner with the ball in his hands. He reminds me of a better version of David Montgomery and would be a nice option to have behind Big Ben. 

Third Round 

65.   New York Jets - Tyson Campbell CB Georgia

• The Jets have needed more talent at the corner spot for a while now. Campbell will be an interesting prospect to watch as a former highly thought of prospect, but he took a while to really hit at Georgia. He has all the tools though to turn into a strong corner at the next level with his natural skills and technique. 

66.   Jacksonville Jaguars - Paulson Adebo CB Stanford 

• The Jags let go of both A.J. Bouye and Jalen Ramsey all in the same season and subsequent offseason last year. They have brought in C.J. Henderson from the first round to help out there, but we all know how pass happy this league has become. You need more than one corner to really have one of the better defenses in the league. Adebo is a similar bigger corner like Henderson who could give the Jags too long corners to go against. He is a safe pick with a nice high floor as a long term starter at Stanford, but injuries have made him slip a bit on a lot of draft boards. 

67.   Cincinnati Bengals - Kadarius Toney WR Florida

• This is not the strongest draft at the receiver position and it’s certainly a big drop off from last year. However, there are a few nice gadget options like Toney who can be an effective find on Day 2. With A.J. Green most likely gone, the Bengals could use more weapons along with Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd for Joe Burrow moving forward. Coach Zac Taylor does come from the Sean McVay coaching tree and would love to use Toney as his end around option in the passing game. 

68.   Los Angeles Chargers - Zion Johnson OG Boston College 

• The Chargers are set to lose all three starting offensive linemen Forrest Lamp, Mike Pouncey, and Dan Feeney. They have to find a few new options to better protect their young signal caller Justin Herbert who has all the looks of being a great quarterback for the future of this franchise. There are a few strong guard options on Day 2 or 3 to be had here that can start right away. Zion Johnson is one of those guys with his size and improving talent as a gritty blocker. He always plays through the whistle and brings a good attitude as a strong offensive lineman. 

69.   Dallas Cowboys - Paris Ford S Pittsburgh

• The Cowboys have lacked a true over the top playmaking safety for quite a long time now. There was some hope they would go after Earl Thomas, but they wisely passed up on the ineffective and disgruntled former star. However, that does not mean they should just avoid finding a ball hawk in general. Ford would be an ideal fit for that to help their okay corners Trevon Diggs, Jourdan Lewis, and Chidobe Awuzie in coverage. He would most certainly be an upgrade over Xavier Woods who admittingly has said he does not play hard on every down. If you ask me the Cowboys were wrong not to cut him and instead kept his poor attitude on a defense that has lacked effort all season long. 

70.   Philadelphia Eagles - Dillon Radunz OT North Dakota State

• The Eagles offensive line was once the heartbeat of their offense, but now it’s their downfall on offense. Only Jason Peters and Jason Kelce survive as consistent blockers from their Super Bowl run. Peters is one step out to retirement and the rumor is that Kelce is not too far behind him to retirement also. With Andre Dillard not developing as hoped and Lane Johnson only being good when he is on PEDs the Eagles need to reassess their tackle situation. Radunz could be a great value with his stock dipping a bit due to North Dakota State not having a season this year. If there’s a Senior Bowl and he is able to step up and prove himself there his stock will most assuredly rise rapidly. 

71.   Houston Texans - Seth Williams WR Auburn

• To me trading away DeAndre Hopkins did make sense with him wanting a big contract and being willing to be a sour spot in the locker room to do so. What I did not understand was the return they got for him. Especially since the Vikings gained double for Stefon Diggs when they traded him last offseason. Hopkins should have netted a whole lot more than what they got. In any case, what is done is done and there’s no turning back from that move. They will need to find a new receiver with both Kenny Stills and Will Fuller set for free agency this offseason. Both are suspended for PEDs so I am not sure how willing the Texans with their limited cap space will be willing to extend either a big contract now. One of the best sleepers in my opinion is Seth Williams who to me has a very high floor as an excellent slot receiver. He is a multi year stud down in Auburn and certainly can make a difference in the NFL as a strong second option at the very least. 

72.    Carolina Panthers - Cameron McGrone LB Michigan

• The Panthers have been one of the worst run defenses this season and a lot of it has to do with the loss of Luke Kuechly in the middle of their defense. Missing his talent and leadership is going to hurt for a long time on this defense. Replacing that talent will probably take two or three new players to replicate Kuechly’s production. Which to me does not include Shaq Thompson who is terrible against the run. Bringing in a versatile linebacker like McGrone could be a great fit here. The Michigan product is a strong tackler, with good coverage skills, and really excels as a blitzer with his great feel and slipperiness around the line. 

73.   Atlanta Falcons - Trevon Moehrig S TCU

• A healthy Keanu Neal is a nice sight to see in the Falcons defensive backfield. He has been a great tackler and even better disruptor over the middle stopping a lot of tight ends and slot receivers this year. However, consistent health year to year will be a hard thing to rely on for the Falcons. Even if he is on the field they could certainly use another option to help him over the top. They lack a true playmaker over the top who can take the ball away consistently. The TCU product excels as a true centerfielder with great quickness and awareness reading the quarterback’s eyes. He could be a nice value pick here on Day 2 where many talented safeties slip to in recent drafts. 

74.   Washington Football Team - Kellen Mond QB Texas A&M

• I am not so quick to discredit Alex Smith as the answer at quarterback for the next few years for the Washington Football Team. Since entering the starting lineup this offense has actually been a consistent and dangerous force from week to week. Sure Smith is a bit too much of a safe quarterback unwilling to move the ball down field, but that is exactly what Ron Rivera wants out of his quarterbacks. However, they should still look for an option on Day 2 or 3 to back him up as an heir apparent. I am higher on Kellen Mond as most with his mobility, strong arm, and improved accuracy this year. He has nice talent to be a good starting quarterback in the pros. 

75.   Denver Broncos - Quincy Roche OLB Miami

• The Broncos should be in the market for a new edge rusher with Von Miller most likely done in Denver. The team has an option this offseason to let him go and with a tighter salary cap this offseason and his age I would bet they would be willing to let him go. Especially, since they have Bradley Chubb becoming already a great option to be an heir apparent to the future Hall of Famer. In any case, another pass rusher in a division with Patrick Mahomes to get by is needed for Denver to get to the playoffs. Roche is a bit of an under the radar prospect in my opinion thanks to his high caliber pass rushing repertoire and speed off the edge. He is a bit stiff, but has a high floor as a consistent playmaker. 

76.   Detroit Lions - Ian Book QB Notre Dame 

• I know the pro prospects for Book are not as high as it is for other high profile quarterbacks, but I have no clue why. Sure he lacks the ideal size or strong arm, but to me he just knows how to win and move the ball. He is an accurate thrower, he is gritty, and has a ton of poise under center. His mobility is also a very strong plus to his game despite him being a tad hesitant to take off. Maybe that’s due to Notre Dame telling him not to get hurt, but I think the pros he will be more willing and allowed to take off when need be. I see him as a better version of Baker Mayfield and maybe even Dak Prescott to be honest. A team like the Lions would really benefit sneaking him onto their roster behind Matthew Stafford to be his future successor. 

77.   Chicago Bears - Teven Jenkins OT Oklahoma State

• The Bears would be wise to double up with blockers in the draft to help out Kyle Trask in this scenario. Neither Bobbie Massie or Charles Leno are long term answers at both tackle spots moving forward. They need to get younger and honestly cheaper there with both of those veterans being handsomely paid. Jenkins comes from a high powered passing attack with a ton of experience pass blocking with nice size and quickness. He is also a strong blocker who has been a go to lane opener for Chuba Hubbard for the past few years. I can see him being a good value pick here for a team in the third round. 

78.   Washington Football Team (via San Francisco 49ers) - Trey Hill C Georgia

• Washington should invest more to protect whoever they have under center moving forward. Well first they need to find a new trainer with how often their offensive line is overwhelmed by injuries. In any case, a new center would be a nice addition with Chase Roullier being one of the worst at his position over the past few seasons. With Smith being an older quarterback and going through the center is the fastest way for him, upgrading that position has to be a big need for them. Hill has been a long time starter for Georgia with a ton of experience in the run game and an even more accomplished pass blocker. 

79.   Arizona Cardinals - Charlie Kolar TE Iowa State

• The Cardinals have always lacked a go to tight end for the past decade or so. They have tried with many guys like Jermaine Gresham and other veterans over the years to solve that issue. For Kyler Murray they could do a lot better there with him always looking for an outlet pass when under pressure. Current starter Dan Arnold is a walking penalty and often his drops turn into interceptions on easy passes. Kolar is a sure handed pass catcher with great size and length at the tight end spot. He lacks the size to be a consistent blocker and is not as fast as you want as an off the line pass catcher. His routes and ability to get open with good yards after the catch ability should have him find a role in the NFL as a high floor pick.

81.   Minnesota Vikings (via Baltimore Ravens) - Joe Tryon DE Washington

• The Vikings lost a lot of talent on the edge with Danielle Hunter being hurt and Everson Griffen leaving this past offseason as a free agent. This to me has been the biggest reason for their regression on defense this year. They should get back to that greatness with Hunter back, but they could still use another option across from him. Especially since Jalyn Holmes, and others not really creating much impact off the edge. Tryon could be a great value pick here since he could be a bit of an under the radar prospect after opting out this season. He has a ton of speed and talent as a go to pass rushing specialist. 

82.   Las Vegas Raiders - Cade Mays OG/T Tennessee

• The Raiders could use more talent up front with Richie Incognito most likely out after this season. Same could be said for both Gabe Jackson and Rodney Hudson who are both older aging vets who are starting to cost too much for the Raiders. I would recommend keeping both, but Gruden and Mayock have gone through ridding many of Reggie McKenzie’s guys and those two were from the previous regime. Mays fits the mold Gruden wants out of his linemen as a mauler who dominates with his size and strength. The former Bulldog and now Volunteer has a ton of upside as he continues to gain experience. He should stay in school for that, but I can see him entering the draft early. 

83.   New York Giants - Justyn Ross WR Clemson

• The Giants could still use some more talent at the receiver position with only Darius Slayton as a long term option. Even then he is just a very good number two option. Golden Tate still has miles left in him, but clearly he and the coaching staff do not see eye to eye. Adding some youth to grow with Daniel Jones would be a wise move. I doubt he enters the draft unless he comes back at the end of the year and looks healthy, but if he does Ross could be the ultimate steal here in the 3rd round. When he was healthy he looked every bit as good as the 2nd best receiver in this class behind Ja’Marr Chase. I honestly doubt he even goes that far down draft boards if he does enter the draft. Many know what he is capable of. 

84.   Minnesota Vikings - Walker Little OT Stanford

• The Vikings could use more offensive line talent on their roster. They did make the right move ridding themselves of Pat Elflein and replacing him with rookie Ezra Cleveland. Unfortunately, they still could use more help along the offensive line with maybe a new left tackle to replace Riley Reif or another guard to replace Dru Samia. One sleeper pick who is a bit of a falling star is Walker Little who was considered a strong first rounder in last year’s talented offensive line class. Injuries have made him fall down boards a bit, but if healthy he could be a steal here with his floor as a technician. He could play either left tackle or even guard for the Vikings. 

85.   Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Kenneth Gainwell RB Memphis

• The Bucs lack the pass catching back of the caliber that Tom Brady would feel comfortable throwing to. Both Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones have too often failed him in that regard with drops and inability to run the proper routes. Brady loves dumping the ball off to his running back when under duress. Gainwell is a scat back type who is a pass catching specialist who can be a game breaker. He is a versatile player who would be a nice weapon to add to a dangerous Bucs offense that should only get better with a full offseason. 

86.   Tennessee Titans - Landon Dickerson C Alabama

• Ben Jones is about a league average blocker and in a run heavy offense like the Titans run they could do better there. There is always good value landing a strong starting blocker in the 3rd round and the Titans relish finding value through the draft over the years. One quick and ready to play starter along the o-line would be Landon Dickerson here who is a decorated veteran for the Alabama offensive line. He has some skill limitations, but possesses good quickness and even better technique to be a valuable interior blocker. He is longer than most centers and could use that to his advantage against bigger defenders. 

87.   Miami Dolphins - Jabril Cox LB LSU

• The Dolphins could use a new linebacker or two to play in the middle of their defense. They brought in veterans Elandon Roberts and Kamu Grugier-Hill to bring over Brian Flores’ defensive philosophy, but now that that’s all set he no longer needs them. What he needs is a more reliable defender to pair with Jerome Baker. Both of the veterans from New England are soon to be free agents anyways. Cox was a dynamic linebacker for North Dakota State before wisely transferring to LSU and what a great move that was with the Missouri Valley Conference canceling their season this year. He is a toolsy linebacker that will fit well in Flores’ defense. 

88.   Indianapolis Colts - Zaven Collins OLB Tulsa

• The Colts could use more consistent edge rushers to lead their defense. This draft has a few good options later in the 2nd and 3rd round that could actually turn out to be better than the first round caliber ones. One name in that vein is Zaven Collins who is used more of an off ball linebacker for the Golden Hurricanes. However, in the NFL he will be a much better fit as a standing edge rusher getting after the quarterback. Having the experience doing both in college and having upside to only get better as a pass rusher has him being named as one of the best sleeper picks of the draft. 

89.   New York Jets (via Seattle Seahawks) - Victor Dimukeje DE/OLB Duke

• The Jets have been in need of a consistent pass rusher for a while now. With their massive amounts of cap space I am sure they will use at least some of it on a new pass rusher or two. However, they could always use a younger cheaper option as well to back a veteran up. Plus, you can never have too many pass rushers in this league. Dimukeje is a nice high character, high motor, and athletic talent that would look nice in this rebuilding Jets locker room. His experience and high floor as a pass rushing specialist will also be a nice tool for this defense to have moving forward.

90.   Los Angeles Rams - Rodarius Williams CB Oklahoma State

• Well maybe I was wrong on Jalen Ramsey, I always thought if he got paid he would turn into the next Darrell Revis and stop trying hard, but he has proven me wrong. However, the issue for the Rams is that when he is not on the opposing team’s top weapon they are quick to attack Troy Hill and Darious Williams who are just solid secondary options at the corner position. To hang in with teams like the Cardinals and Seahawks with their top receivers they need more help at that position. Rodarius Williams has played like a first rounder this year, but comes with some injury worries that has him sliding down further than his talent should have him in the draft. A team ready to win now like the Rams should love to add him to their roster. 

91.   Buffalo Bills - Tyler Shelvin DT LSU

• Some more youth and talent along the defensive line should be on the docket for the Bills this offseason as they reload on defense. Losing Jordan Phillips normally would not register on the casual fans’ radar, but the savvy ones know how good he really is. Despite not being a glamorous player he was still a significant interior rusher and run stuffer for the Bills. While they still have a solid defense it’s mostly due to coach McDermott’s schemes more than anything. Adding Shelvin will give them that strength and power they want on the inside of their defensive line to anchor the defensive front. 

92.   Cleveland Browns - Tamorrion Terry WR Florida State

• The Browns seem set to move on from OBJ and his neediness of getting the ball. While he is a very talented player this is now the second time we have seen his teams perform better without him than with him on the field. That being said, back up Rashard Higgins is a soon to be free agent along with JoJo Natson. Both are not the best, but they are good depth options for them. Terry is a bigger receiver that can help give Baker Mayfield an easier target to look towards on the outside and in the red zone. His play has dropped off this season, but that could be said about the entire Florida State program. Like many Seminoles in this draft he has a lot of pedigree that could allow him to be a better pro than when he was in college. 

93.   Green Bay Packers - Chazz Surratt LB UNC

• The Packers continue to rebuild the interior of their defense geared to stopping the run. They need to get better in that regard if they want to win more consistently. Not that they already are not winning a ton, but the best way to beat them is keeping Rodgers on the bench with a strong run game. Much like the 49ers did to them in the playoffs last year. They brought in Christian Kirksey to solve that issue, but he has not performed as expected thus far. Surratt is new to the position, but he possesses the size, quickness, and tackling ability to be a very good value pick here. I love his upside and his high floor as an athlete that could see him be a nice quick starter in the NFL. 

94.   Kansas City Chiefs - Kary Vincent Jr CB LSU 

• I always feel like the Chiefs could do better in the secondary. Outside of Tyrann Mathieu they really have no consistent playmaker in their secondary. They did find some nice secondary options like L’Jarius Sneed, Charvarius Ward, and Rashad Fenton. All can play in the NFL and provide valuable snaps for the Chiefs, but with a roster this good it’s tough to just settle with those guys. Vincent has the upside and pedigree to be a nice value pick here. He is an electric speedy corner who can keep up with the best of them, but his tackling and ball skills could use more work. The Chiefs love speed and might fall in love with Vincent. They also love versatility and Vincent can provide that with experience in the slot and safety spots as well. 

95.   Cleveland Browns (via New Orleans Saints) - Brenton Cox Jr DE Florida 

• The Browns could still use some more talent up front despite just adding Marvin Wilson in the 2nd round. Olivier Vernon is also a soon to be free agent and for the most part he has been a big disappointment for the Browns. Especially after they moved a valuable asset in Kevin Zeitler for him. Brenton Cox has been a beast for Florida this year after being kicked off Georgia’s roster for marijuana possession. He essentially only has one season of starts and is still very raw. However his athletic upside and talent gives him a bunch of upside. I can see him being one of the better mid round gems if he goes to the draft. 

96.   Pittsburgh Steelers - Daniel Faale OT Minnesota

• The Steelers not only could lose both James Conner and JuJu Smith-Schuster this offseason, but also their terrific left tackle Ali Villanueva. I honestly see them bringing Villanueva back, but who knows with this lowering salary cap and the Steelers already being one of the most cap strapped teams in the NFL. Even with Villanueva they have a bit of an opening at the right tackle spot where Matt Feller is just okay. Faale is a rare talent at the tackle position as a former Australian Native. He has the upside and ability to develop into a top notch blocker thanks to his size and quickness. The Steelers love finding and developing guys like this with their strong coaching staff, in particular their offensive line coach, who continues to find and develop guys for his blocking unit. 

Fourth Round

97.   New York Jets - Hunter Long TE Boston College

• At this point Chris Herndon has not shown anything to prevent them from finding a better tight end to pair with Trevor Lawrence. Long is a versatile talent at the tight end spot who can provide help in the blocking and passing game. 

98.  Jacksonville Jaguars - Andre Cisco S Syracuse

• More playmakers for their young and advancing secondary. I hate how good safeties are often overlooked in the NFL draft. One big steal could be Cisco who reminds me a lot of Jessie Bates when he came out of Wake Forest. 

99.  Cincinnati Bengals - Israel Mukuamu CB South Carolina

• The Bengals could use more talent at the corner spot to help slow down the high powered offenses in their division. Mukuamu is a rare talent with his size as a 6’4” corner. It will be interesting to see how he tests leading up to the draft. 

100. Los Angeles Chargers - Tylan Wallace WR Oklahoma State

• Keenan Allen and Mike Williams have the potential to be one of the most dangerous wide receiver duos in the NFL. Unfortunately, they have been hurt at the same time more than they have been on the field at the same time. Better depth is needed and Wallace’s high floor can provide that as a speed option at the receiver position. 

101. Dallas Cowboys - Darius Stills DT West Virginia 

• I would recommend an edge rusher, but they overpaid for DeMarcus Lawrence and seem determined to make Aldon Smith and Randy Gregory to work. In that case, they can turn to the interior to find a tackle who is more willing to stop the run than Antwaun Woods and Trysten Hill want to. Stills is an improving defender with a high motor, but more mechanics and technique. Hopefully a new defensive coordinator here rather than Mike Nolan can coach him up. 

102. Cleveland Browns (via Philadelphia Eagles) - Baron Browning LB Ohio State

• The Browns continue to add talent to their defensive front. They need a new linebacker after losing Joe Schobert and Christian Kirksey last year. They had high hopes for Mack Wilson, but he is too often injured to be relied on. Browning is your stereotypical smaller albeit high energy linebacker out of Ohio State. 

103. Carolina Panthers - Aaron Robinson CB UCF

• The Panthers could use more talent at the corner spot in a division with top receivers like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Michael Thomas, Calvin Ridley, and Julio Jones. Donte Jackson is a nice corner, but they could do more across from him. Robinson is a big corner who could be a nice addition to their smaller cornerback room. 

104. Atlanta Falcons - Chase Lucas CB Arizona State

• I, like many others, was not a big fan of taking A.J. Terrell in the first round, but they did it. He has been very inconsistent this season and he should not prevent them from looking for more help in their secondary. Plus, Isaiah Oliver and Kendall Sheffield have not played that well this year either. Lucas is a versatile corner with a ton of speed and ball skills that could have him be a game breaker with the ball in his hands. 

105.  Houston Texans - Brady Christensen OT BYU

• This feels like a perennial issue for the Texans with their need to better protect Deshaun Watson. They have to keep him upright and with so few picks they need to maximize them. Christensen is a high floor starter with the ability to be a valuable swing tackle as a depth option as well as being a strong right tackle when he develops a bit more. 

106. Denver Broncos - Bubba Bolden S Miami 

• The Broncos have both Kareem Jackson with his team option and possibly Justin Simmons up for free agency. I doubt they let Simmons go, but I can see them dabble in letting him walk due to teams not willing to pay top safeties anymore. Either way, even if Simmons is back, a new safety alongside him would be useful for Vic Fangio’s defense. Bolden has shot up draft boards with his size and ball skills, having many seeing a potential Pro Bowler from his skill set as he fills out his frame. 

107. Washington Football Team - Ben Cleveland OG Georgia 

• More help for a so-so offensive line in front of Alex Smith or possibly Kellen Mond moving forward for the Washington Football Team. It would hurt to see Branden Scherff leave free agency and I doubt he will with them possibly franchise tagging him again. They still need another guard across from him and Ben Cleveland has a nice high floor to be a good option here. 

108. Minnesota Vikings (via Chicago Bears) - Richard LeCounte III S Georgia

• The Vikings were wise to franchise tag Anthony Harris who was a one year wonder rather than giving him a big deal last year. So far this year he has played nowhere near as good the prior year and was even a trade candidate at the deadline. Finding a new safety should not be hard with guys like LeCounte falling in the draft every year with teams overlooking the safety position. 

109. Detroit Lions - Spencer Brown OT Northern Iowa

• Taylor Decker is one of the better left tackles in the game, but right tackle has been an issue for the Lions the past few years. They could certainly do better there for Stafford or Ian Book moving forward. Brown is a massive blocker who can see his stock soar with a strong pre draft season. 

110. San Francisco 49ers - Josh Jobe CB Alabama 

• Corner help will be high on the 49ers priority list this offseason. Especially with how bad aging Richard Sherman has looked this season and is a soon to be free agent. This is not the best draft for corners, but Jobe has a high pedigree coming from Nick Saban’s program. He did break into Alabama’s starting linebacker as a true freshman so there is a ton to like here with his pedigree. 

111. New England Patriots - Shane Buchele QB SMU

• The Patriots will probably roll with Cam Newton next year and hope he gets better in their offense with a proper offseason. However, that has never stopped Belichick from finding another quarterback via the draft even when Brady was there performing at a high level. Buchele has had an up and down career, but his playing style is what teams look for in the pros nowadays. He will be a valuable back up at the very least. 

112. Houston Texans (via Arizona Cardinals) - Chuba Hubbard RB Oklahoma State

• I was not sure what Bill O’Brien saw from David Johnson to see him as a good enough piece to trade DeAndre Hopkins for him. Johnson has been his usual brittle self and has not provided much to the offense. Hubbard is getting the Jonathan Taylor treatment of being good in college for too long. If he slips in the draft he might be one of those “how did he fall in the draft” type running backs in the pros. 

113. Baltimore Ravens - Shaka Toney DE Penn State

• Doubling up on edge rushers makes a lot of sense for the Ravens who went all in on offense in last year’s draft. They are set to lose a lot of talent on the edge this offseason with Ngakoue, Judon, and Bowser all being free agents. Toney is a raw athlete with a ton of talent and like his teammate Jayson Oweh taken also by the Ravens in this draft. He has a ton of upside to be had in the middle of the draft.

114. Las Vegas Raiders - Dazz Newsome WR UNC

• The Raiders went heavy at the receiver position last year with Henry Ruggs, Bryan Edwards, and Lynn Bowden. So far this season Bowden did not make the roster coming out of camp, Edwards has been injured often like he was in college, and Ruggs lack of routes seems to be an issue creating a rapport with Derek Carr. Adding another receiver still makes sense here and Newsome is a reliable slot option with a ton of quickness. 

115. New York Giants - Michael Carter RB UNC

• Saquon Barkley is great and we all know it, but he only essentially had one good season his rookie year. His second year he was inconsistent and had issues holding onto the ball. Then this year he sustained an ACL tear early. I am not saying give up on him, but he is just one year away from wanting a new contract. Giving running backs a second contract is always a sketchy ordeal. Carter will help spell Barkley and take some stats away from him making negotiating a little more fair for the Giants favor.

116. Minnesota Vikings - Thayor Munford OG Ohio State

• Dru Samia is one of the worst pass blocking guards in the league, but he is fairly good in the run game. Which is not the worst thing with their run heavy offense. However, in a passing league you need more talent along the line. Munford has the experience and upside to be a nice find in the middle of the draft. 

117.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Sage Surratt WR Wake Forest

• I am not convinced the Bucs are all set at the receiver position with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin not staying healthy. I doubt they move on from them, but I think bringing in another talent would make a lot of sense. Surratt is a highly intelligent and savvy route runner who could quickly become Brady’s favorite target. 

118. Miami Dolphins - Alim McNeill DT North Carolina State

• The Dolphins have a stout defense, but that’s not really due to their bevy of talent up front. They are well coached and well schemed by Brian Flores. Bringing in another potential starter to push the pocket like McNeill could be a nice addition in the later rounds of the draft for the Dolphins. I can see him really finding a groove under Flores’ tutelage. 

119. Indianapolis Colts - Stone Forsythe OT Florida 

• The Colts do not have many huge needs outside of an upgrade at quarterback. The only way that really comes is by bringing in Dak Prescott or someone else you would consider better than Phillip Rivers. In any case, adding depth to the o-line is always useful even for a team with many top notch starters. Forsythe is a versatile blocker who can play inside at guard or tackle at a starters level. 

120. Tennessee Titans - Anthony Schwartz WR Auburn

• The Titans could use a new receiver if they pass on extending Corey Davis. At first he was seen as a lost cause, but he has done well to break out this season. Maybe he’s the next DeVante Parker who figures it out late. Even if he is more depth behind him and A.J. Brown would always be helpful. Schwartz is a small and fast slot receiver who can add more wrinkles to a rather bland offense. 

121. Jacksonville Jaguars (via Los Angeles Rams) - LaBryan Ray DT Alabama

• Doubling up at tackle is not a bad idea for the Jags to build up their defensive line. Especially since former first rounder Taven Bryan has really not done much to keep himself in the starting lineup. Ray is a high floor run stuffer who should be a safe pick wherever he lands. In a division with Derrick Henry and Jonathan Taylor they need to be at the top of their game stopping the run. 

122. Seattle Seahawks - D.J. Daniels CB Georgia

• The Seahawks need a few upgrades at the corner position with only Shaq Griffin being a viable defender there. Even then his play has plateaued a bit where he has not turned the corner yet to becoming a number one corner. Daniels fits the big, long, and physical corner mold that Pete Carroll likes for his defenses. 

123. Minnesota Vikings (via Buffalo Bills) - Jake Ferguson TE Wisconsin

• The Vikings could use a new tight end with Kyle Rudolph falling off the past few seasons. They had hoped Irv Smith would take up his mantle, but he has been even more inconsistent then Rudolph has been the past couple of seasons. Ferguson is a solid receiving tight end who could be a nice middle round draft choice who can help out Kirk Cousins. 

124. Cleveland Browns - Brock Purdy QB Iowa State

• I am not totally sure the Browns are ready to give Baker Mayfield the big contract extension that he will be afforded next year. It’s silly that each quarterback has to make more than the next. Unless if he takes a hometown discount I am not sure he is worth the $40 million he could be looking for. Finding and developing an heir apparent like Brock Purdy could help cover their bases if things turn sour between Mayfield and the organization. 

125. Green Bay Packers - Kylin Hill RB Texas A&M

• The Packers have both of their starting running backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Adams set for free agency. I am not sure the historically cheap Packers are going to be willing to pay Jones the money he deserves so it will be interesting to watch this offseason with what they will do with him. Maybe that’s why they drafted A.J. Dillon in the 2nd round, but he has not shown me anything to rely on him long term. Hill could provide more quality runs and dynamic pass catching ability to pair with Dillon. 

126. Kansas City Chiefs - Merlin Robertson LB Arizona State

• The Chiefs drafted Willie Gay Jr last year in the 2nd round, but with Anthony Hitchens probably leaving via free agency they could look to add another linebacker with him. Robertson is built much similar to Gay and would give them two versatile three down linebackers. He has some motor and energy issues which will cause him to slip down the draft despite his talent. 

127. New Orleans Saints - Jhamon Ausbon WR Texas A&M

• The Saints could use more depth at the receiver position behind Michael Thomas. Since clearly Emmanuel Sanders seems to have hit a wall and is unable to be that guy anymore who can be an ideal second option. If Thomas goes down again their offense just seems to run in quicksand. Ausbon is put together very well and should test his way into the top half of the draft after opting out on the season. 

128. Pittsburgh Steelers - Marlon Williams WR UCF

• Fun fact GM Kevin Colbert has drafted a receiver in the draft at least one time for the past twenty years he has been at the position. With JuJu Smith-Schuster set to leave it would not be shocking if he takes one again to keep the streak going. Williams is a stocky, heady, and sure handed slot receiver who should be a solid pick in the middle rounds. 

Fifth Round

129. New York Jets - Nico Collins WR Michigan

• Despite a good trio of receivers they all have some injury concerns. Adding another young option here makes a lot of sense. 

130. Jacksonville Jaguars - Royce Newman OG Ole Miss

• More talent along the offensive line is never a bad thing. Especially for a young roster like the Jags who need to protect Justin Fields. 

131. Cincinnati Bengals - Thomas Booker DE Stanford

• After trading away Carlos Dunlap the Bengals could use some more young depth on the edges. Especially, if guys like Carl Lawson and Sam Hubbard continue not to develop as expected. 

132. Los Angeles Chargers - Mohamed Ibrahim RB Minnesota 

• With Austin Ekeler getting hurt every season and the depth behind him seemingly just as fragile finding a new back would not hurt. I think Ibrahim is better built to be a bell cow back more than anyone they have on their roster. 

133. Philadelphia Eagles (via Dallas Cowboys) - Hamsah Nasirildeen S Florida State

• The Eagles could use more consistent talent in the secondary. Especially at the safety position where they have lacked a playmaker since Brian Dawkins left them. 

134. Philadelphia Eagles - Drake Jackson C Kentucky 

• As mentioned earlier the Eagles are going to have to do a full overhaul of the offensive line moving forward. Especially with their top blockers are one step away from retiring. 

135. Atlanta Falcons - Jaret Patterson RB Buffalo

• The Falcons could use another back to pair with the aging and declining Todd Gurley. They have tried Brian Hill a few times and each time he has failed. Patterson may be a smaller back, but he is no less a talented one who has torn up college the past few seasons. 

136. Houston Texans - Richie Grant S UCF

• The Texans have one of the worst secondaries in the league. With only Justin Reid and in the box safety safe from being replaced in the near future. 

137. Carolina Panthers - Nick Eubanks TE Michigan 

• The Panthers had high hopes that the athletically gifted Ian Thomas would take over after they let go of the veteran Greg Olsen. Unfortunately, he has not done so and with a new young quarterback like Trey Lance they need to find a new safety blanket for their offense. 

138. Washington Football Team - Jack Sanborn LB Wisconsin

• Jon Bostic has been something of a revelation for Washington this past season as a versatile and reliable linebacker. However, his running mates can not be called the same. A new young linebacker to pair with him makes a lot of sense for a young defense. 

139. Denver Broncos - Zamir White RB Georgia

• I am not sure the Broncos can rely on Phillip Lindsey long term moving forward. He has been too often injured and unable to find any consistency as a runner for them. Same can be said for Melvin Gordon who looks nowhere as good as he once was. 

140. Detroit Lions - Tutu Atwell WR Louisville

• Adding another dynamic weapon to the passing game would not be a bad idea. Especially if they do end up losing Kenny Golladay this offseason. Despite adding Jaylen Waddle they can continue to load up around Matthew Stafford. 

141. Chicago Bears - Jack Jones CB Arizona State

• The Bears need a new slot corner to replace Buster Skrine who has been a huge liability in coverage. Especially for a defense that refuses to move their best corner to opposing teams best receivers. Plus, Skrine is paid way too much to be playing this poorly. 

142. San Francisco 49ers - Ar’Darius Washington S TCU

• Jaquiski Tartt is a free agent after this season and replacing him should be fairly easy. They could really use a more talented playmaker in their secondary anyways to take advantage of their pass rush forcing quarterbacks into poor decisions. 

143. Arizona Cardinals - Ambry Thomas CB Michigan

• Byron Murphy is a nice chess piece on defense, but he is not a true outside corner. They may need to go a veteran route to replace Patrick Peterson if he decides to leave this offseason. 

144. New England Patriots - Myjai Sanders DE Cincinnati 

• The Patriots could use a new pass rusher or two up front to get after the young quarterbacks now littering their division. Chase Winovich is their only solid option getting after the quarterback. They have done a good job of late finding quality ones in the later parts of the draft.

145. Minnesota Vikings (via Baltimore Ravens) - Jordan Smith DE UAB

• It never hurts to have too many pass rushers in this league. With the status of Danielle Hunter still up in the air with his neck issues, which is always a dicey injury, finding another option would not be a bad idea. 

146. Buffalo Bills (via Las Vegas Raiders) - Pete Werner LB Ohio State

• Linebacker depth has been an issue for the Bills this season with Tremaine Edmunds and more so Matt Milano in and out of the lineup with injuries. There are always solid linebackers to be had in the middle of the draft that can help out right away. 

147. New York Jets (via New York Giants) - Evan McPherson K Florida 

• With so many picks taking the best kicker could be a good move for a young team. So often kickers are overlooked despite how important they are and how they are the decider between who wins or loses. The Jets being such a young team they could really use a reliable kicker to help them steal a few victories next year. 

148. Minnesota Vikings - Sam Ehlinger QB Texas

• I am not sure if the Vikings can find a true replacement for Kirk Cousins, but it never hurts to try. With so many draft picks it would not hurt the Vikings to try and find someone. Ehlinger has a lot of Tebow-esque qualities that can actually work in the NFL nowadays. 

149. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Daelin Hayes DE Notre Dame 

• The Bucs could lose Shaq Barrett this offseason, but I doubt they let him walk away. However, I would not be shocked if it does end up happening. Even if it does not having a few good depth options to rotate in for Barrett and JPP. 

150. Indianapolis Colts - Caden Sterns S Texas

• Malik Hooker is a soon to be free agent this offseason. He has certainly not been the playmaker they thought he would have been coming out of college. They could still need a talent over the top to create turnovers like they hoped Hooker would have been. 

151. Tennessee Titans - DeAngelo Malone OLB Western Kentucky

• Doubling up on edge rushers is not a bad idea for a Titans team that is so poor at getting after the quarterback. If they ever want to get to the Super Bowl they will have to do so by getting past Mahomes. To do so they need to get after him more consistently. 

152. Miami Dolphins - James Wiggins S Cincinnati 

• The Dolphins have two high profile corners in Byron Jones and Xavien Howard who have been lights out this year. However, the safeties behind them could be upgraded for Brian Flores’ system. As it so happens every year some safeties will fall into many teams laps in the later rounds of the draft

153. Seattle Seahawks - Josh Ball OT Marshall 

• I feel like it’s an inevitable occurrence every year that the Seahawks need to find more competent blockers to protect Russell Wilson. With a lack of picks it will be hard to find ones that will make much of a difference right away, but they could get lucky. 

154. Cleveland Browns (via Los Angeles Rams) - Kolby Harvell-Peel S Oklahoma State

• More help for a leaky and oft-injured secondary. Plus they have a lot of key free agents at the position like Karl Joseph and Andrew Sendejo who made up a lot of their quality depth in the secondary. 

155. Buffalo Bills - Janarius Robinson DE Florida State

• The Bills would be wise to double down on edge rushers if they can. With one of their best edge rushers Trent Murphy set to be a free agent. Along with no other real threats off the edge finding an edge rusher is really their only main need this offseason. 

156. Jacksonville Jaguars (via Cleveland Browns) - Elijah Molden CB Washington 

• More help for a secondary lacking top end talent. They did draft C.J. Henderson in the first round, but you can never really have too many good corners in the NFL. Even in a division where they run the ball more than pass it. 

157. Green Bay Packers - Elijah Moore WR Ole Miss

• Here’s the receiver that the Packers faithful have been clamouring for. Not that I think Rodgers needs more weapons coming from a Bears fan, but I guess it would never hurt. He can probably use a new receiver with more speed to add another wrinkle to the offense.

158. Kansas City Chiefs - Tedarrell Slaton DT Florida

• The Chiefs could always use more talent up front to push the pocket. Especially with key rotational players like Alex Okafor and Tanoh Kpassagnon heading to free agency. Neither are that important to be brought back and a cheaper rookie would probably be a better move. 

159. San Francisco 49ers (via New Orleans Saints) - Ronnie Perkins DE Oklahoma

• I doubt injuries will hit their defensive line as hard as it hit it this year, but you can never be certain. It would also be nice to keep guys coming off an injury on a pitch count as they get their stamina back up. 

160. Baltimore Ravens (via Pittsburgh Steelers) - Alec Lindstrom C Boston College

• Their current standout center Matt Skura is a soon to be free agent this offseason. They have shown an unwillingness to pay a center a new contract after also letting Ryan Jensen walk a couple of seasons ago. In their defense, they have proven to be capable of developing talented centers.
