Other Positions:
QB|RB|FB|WR|TE|OT|OG|C|DE|DT|OLB|ILB|CB|S|K|P

  1. Jake Long, Michigan
    Height: 6-7. Weight: 313.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.00.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.17.
    Benchx225: 37.
    Projected Round: Top 5 Pick.

With a 5.17, Jake Long took himself out of consideration of the No. 1 pick. Joe Thomas ran a 4.9 last year. Long isn't nearly as athletic as Thomas, although I still consider him the top tackle in this class and a top-five candidate.

  2. Ryan Clady, Boise State
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 309.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.20.
Combine 40 Time: Did not run.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 5.18.
    Benchx225: 24.
    Projected Round: Top 15 Pick.

Ryan Clady had a solid Pro Day - he improved his 40 time a bit and had a vertical of 31 inches. Not bad for a 310-pound tackle. He won't go any lower than No. 13, while his ceiling is No. 5.

Clady did not run or work out at the combine, excluding the bench. He may not eclipse Jake Long on prospect charts, but he has the possibility to go fifth overall to the Chiefs.

  3. Chris Williams, Vanderbilt
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 315.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.13.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.07.
    Arm: 32 7/8. Benchx225: 21.
    Projected Round: Top 20 Pick.

Chris Williams solidified his status as a top-20 prospect with a good combine.

Mike Mayock labeled Williams as his No. 3 offensive tackle in this class. After a solid Senior Bowl, Williams very well could be the third tackle taken. Co-captain of Vanderbilt's football team, Williams simply doesn't allow sacks. His 40 at his size is remarkable.

  4. Jeff Otah, Pittsburgh
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 332.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.24.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.56.
    Benchx225: 27.
    Projected Round: Top 25 Pick.

Note: ESPN is reporting that Jeff Otah's poor combine performance was the result of his working out with an ankle sprain. And I was wondering why he seemed off...

Jeff Otah looked a bit slow at the combine. I'm not talking about his 40 time either; he just seemed somewhat sluggish in the drills, indicating that he could struggle against speed rushers at the next level. He was also somewhat lighter than I expected (340-345).

  5. Gosder Cherilus, Boston College
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 314.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.08.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.21.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 5.00.
    Arm: 35 5/8. Benchx225: .
    Projected Round: 1-2.

Struggled in the 3-cone drill, running out of control and stumbling around.

  6. Carl Nicks, Nebraska
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 341.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.15.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.12.
    Arm: 35. Benchx225: 31.
    Projected Round: 2.

Currently having some legal issues that could drop his stock a bit.

Carl Nicks may have solidifed his first-round status with a 5.12 40. Doesn't sound impressive until you look at his weight, long arms and bench press.

A monstrous tackle with some mobility who can play guard as well. Really improved his draft stock in 2007.

  7. Duane Brown, Virginia Tech
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 290.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.99.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.08.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 5.03.
    Benchx225: 24.
    Projected Round: 2-3.

Perfect for any zone-blocking scheme. Can also play special teams.

  8. Anthony Collins, Kansas
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 317.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.98.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.53.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 5.35.
    Benchx225: 26.
    Projected Round: 2-3.

Anthony Collins wasn't as slow at his Pro Day than he was at the combine, but a 5.35 is still way too sluggish.

Ran A LOT slower than I projected. I know 40s don't mean much for linemen, but a 5.53 at only 317 pounds is going to kill Collins' draft stock.

  9. Sam Baker, USC
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 309.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.01.
Combine 40 Time: Did not run.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 5.50.
    Arm: 32 3/8. Benchx225: 29.
    Projected Round: 2-3.

Some people who were timing Sam Baker got bored and left before the offensive tackle could finish the event. Others died of old age.

The top pure zone-blocking candidate did not work out at the combine.

  10. Heath Benedict, Newberry
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 321.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.90.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.09.
    Arm: 33 4/8. Benchx225: .
    Projected Round: 3.

Condolences go out to Heath Benedict's friends and family. The Newberry product was recently found dead in his home.

  11. John Greco, Toledo
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 305.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.20.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.31.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 5.16.
    Benchx225: 30.
    Projected Round: 3.

John Greco improved on his 40 time from the combine, citing that his hamstring was sore.

Greco, who can play four positions on the offensive line, has been named first-team All-MAC two years in a row.

  12. Tony Hills, Texas
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 301.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.99.
Combine 40 Time: Did not run.
    Benchx225: 24.
    Projected Round: 3-4.

Tony Hills didn't work out at the combine. Started every game for Texas in 2006. Can play special teams. Nice 40 for his size.

  13. Oniel Cousins, UTEP
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 308.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.96.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.11.
    Arm: 34 7/8. Benchx225: 23.
    Projected Round: 3-4.

After being benched in 2006, Oniel Cousins bounced back with a terrific 2007 campaign, establishing himself as a third- or fourth-round prospect capable of playing in a zone-blocking scheme.

  14. Kirk Barton, Ohio State
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 311.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.08.
Combine 40 Time: Did not run.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.95.
    Arm: 33 1/4. Benchx225: 34.
    Projected Round: 3-4.

Kirk Barton expelled all concerns about a lingering knee injury by looking very impressive in the drills at his Pro Day. He also ran a 4.95 and benched 225 pounds 34 times.

  15. Barry Richardson, Clemson
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 331.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.48.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.47.
    Arm: 34 1/2. Benchx225: 24.
    Projected Round: 4.

A monstrous offensive tackle who has started 32 consecutive games. Has work ethic issues.

  16. Jeremy Zuttah, Rutgers
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 303.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.06.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.99.
    Benchx225: 35.
    Projected Round: 4-5.

Another zone-blocking lineman, as you can tell by his 4.99. Big East First-Teamer. Can play almost all of the positions on the offensive front.

  17. Brandon Keith, Northern Iowa
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 349.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.29.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.23.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.98.
    Benchx225: 31.
    Projected Round: 5.
I know 40 times for offensive linemen is meaningless, but a 4.98 from a 343-pound monster? Wow.

  18. Bobby Byrd, Washington State
    Height: 6-7. Weight: 315.
    40 Time: 5.29.
    Projected Round: 5.

A sprained knee plagued Byrd in 2006.

  19. Carlton Medder, Florida
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 319.
    40 Time: 5.29.
    Projected Round: 5.

Starting right tackle for the national champs. Can play guard as well.

  20. Shannon Boatman, Florida State
    Height: 6-7. Weight: 324.
    40 Time: 5.11.
    Projected Round: 5-6.

An enormous tackle who started 12 games in 2006. Was a juco transfer, so last year was his first as a Seminole.

  21. Pedro Sosa, Rutgers
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 290.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.24.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.50.
    Benchx225: 19.
    Projected Round: 6.

A slow 40, a small frame and a weak performance on the bench won't exactly raise your stock.

  22. Franklin Dunbar, Middle Tennessee State
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 320.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.21.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.59.
    Benchx225: 27.
    Projected Round: 6-7.

You know how when superheroes run at the speed of light everything slows down? Well, by the time Franklin Dunbar was done his 40, I think everyone aged 50 years.

  23. Brian Stamper, Vanderbilt
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 300.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.19.
    Pro Day 40 Time: .
    Benchx225: 38.
    Projected Round: 6-7.

You have to like this guy. Brian Stamper put up 38 reps of 225 pounds despite suffering a hamstring cramp when he was on his 20th lift. Instead of stopping, Stamper continued to bench with his legs straight up in the air. After he was finished, Stamper was disappointed, stating that his goal was around 45 reps.

  24. Tyler Luellen, Missouri
    Height: 6-7. Weight: 295.
    40 Time: 5.22.
    Projected Round: 6-FA.

Suffered a torn ACL in May 2006. Let's see how well he covers.

  25. Corey Clark, Texas A&M
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 317.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.07.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.41.
    Benchx225: 25.
    Projected Round: 7.

Ran a lot slower than I predicted.

  26. Rocky Hanni, Eastern Washington
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 290.
    40 Time: 5.16.
    Projected Round: 7.

Level of competition, size and speed are all issues.

  27. Geoff Schwartz, Oregon
    Height: 6-7. Weight: 340.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.54.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.25.
    Benchx225: .
    Projected Round: 7.

Geoff Schwartz did a good job cutting time off his 40, but he didn't look that solid to me in the drills. A monstrous tackle who may have trouble dealing with speed rushers at the next level.

  28. Mike Gibson, California
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 290.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.16.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.23.
    Benchx225: 31.
    Projected Round: 7.

I'm not sure what type of system Mike Gibson will be able to play in. Needs to get quicker.

  29. Thaddeus Coleman, Mississippi Valley State
    Height: 6-7. Weight: 308.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.50.
    Projected Round: 7.

  30. Tyler Polumbus, Colorado
    Height: 6-7. Weight: 312.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.15.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.33.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 5.13.
    Arms: 32 4/8. Benchx225: 24.
    Projected Round: 7.

  31. Charles Manu, Nevada
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 300.
    40 Time: 5.18.
    Projected Round: 7.

Started every game for Nevada in 2006 after playing guard. His 40 isn't good enouigh for his lacking size.

  32. King Dunlap, Auburn
    Height: 6-8. Weight: 310.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.21.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.33.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 5.26.
    Benchx225: 21.
    Projected Round: 7.

Injured and ineffective as a senior. Not a good sign.

  33. Tim Silver, Richmond
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 320.
    40 Time: 5.15.
    Projected Round: 7.

Tim Silver is a two-year starter, who runs well for his size. Level of competition is an issue.

  34. Devin Clark, New Mexico
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 320.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.40.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 5.34.
    Benchx225: .
    Projected Round: 7.

    Started 12 of 13 games in 2006.

  35. David Hale, Weber State
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 314.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.19.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.27.
    Benchx225: 25.
    Projected Round: 7-FA.

    Breno Giacomini, Louisville
    Height: 6-7. Weight: 300.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.03.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.20.
    Benchx225: .
    Projected Round: FA.

  36. Akim Millington, Illinois
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 310.
    40 Time: 5.29.
    Projected Round: FA.

The team that drafts him better not use him against the Cowboys; Anthony Spencer humiliated Millington to the point where Ron Zook had no choice but to bench him.

  37. Will Robinson, San Diego State
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 286.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.91.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.19.
    Benchx225: 22.
    Projected Round: FA.

  38. Demetrius Bell, Northwestern State
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 301.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.01.
    Combine 40 Time: 5.19.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 5.18.
    Benchx225: 10.
    Projected Round: FA.

How does an offensive lineman only put up 10 reps of 225 pounds?

  39. Phil Trautwein, Florida
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 298.
    40 Time: 5.18.
    Projected Round: FA.

Played for the national champs, but wasn't a starter. Too small for a traditional system and too slow for a zone-blocking scheme.

  40. Jason Boone, Utah
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 300.
    40 Time: 5.11.
    Projected Round: FA.

Suspended for two games in 2006 for violating team rules. Just an honorable mention All-Mountain West.
