San Francisco/Oakland Swap Draft Picks?

First off, I don't want to suggest that I approve of this move, however if Jon Grudon is adamant about getting his own quarterback and truly likes Dwayne Haskins, then it might be necessary for Oakland to trade up to acquire the former Ohio State quarterback.

Current draft position:
1. Arizona Cardinals
2. San Francisco 49ers
3. New York Jets
4. Oakland Raiders
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
6. New York Giants

24. Oakland

As of now, it appears Arizona is serious about taking Kyler Murray at number one. It also has been reported that the New York Giants are very high on Haskins. The New York Jets do not have a second round draft pick, so have motivation to trade down. The New York teams could do an easy deal for fair compensation. However, Oakland is loaded with three first-round picks and have more room to bargain.

As seen above, San Francisco currently sits at number two. One of their biggest needs was addressed in free agency by acquiring Dee Ford. Their next three biggest areas of concern are cornerback, safety, and wide receiver. Based on this years draft, no player is even close to deserving to be taken as the number two overall pick from those positions. By sliding down a couple pics and acquiring another in the process, the 49ers will be in a better position to draft three starters rather than developmental players that take a couple years.

NFL Draft Value Chart

2.  San Francisco… 2600
4.  Oakland… 1800
24. Oakland… 740
2020 Fourth Round Draft Pick.

This trade makes perfect sense for both teams. Gruden gets Oakland's future. San Francisco gets three picks and possibly the man they covet all along.

Top 3 consensus:
1. EDGE Nick Bosa Ohio State
2. DL Quinnen Williams Alabama
3. EDGE Josh Allen Kentucky

As mentioned above, San Francisco acquired Dee Ford to play defense end.  DeForest Buckner is a stud defensive tackle but the remainder of the defensive line is somewhat lacking. Solomon Thomas has yet to pan out as a pass rusher and Arik Armstead is slightly above average at best.  Thomas is in the third year of his rookie contract so he'll likely get another year to prove himself, however Armstead is another story. The DT is in the final year of his contract and has durability issues. The team may want to move on after this year and replace him with someone not only better but cheaper. This trade will also help their secondary problems.

Potential 2019 draft:
1.  Kyler Murray ~Arizona
2.  Dwayne Haskins ~Oakland
3.  Nick Bosa/Josh Allen ~New York Jets
4.  Quinnen Williams ~San Francisco
… No scratch
24. DeAndre Baker CB ~San Francisco

This scenario all boils down to Gruden's interest in Haskins. If he thinks that the former Buckeye is the future of Oakland, this scenario works out great for both teams. The other scenario is purposely pushing up the QB values in order for other teams to trade up above him and pushing down elite pass rushers in the process. Either way, the end of April will be interesting.
