Proposed Trade: Dolphins-Bears
Dolphins Get:
Bears First Round (8 overall) Bears Fourth Round Pick (115 overall) Seventh Round Pick 2019
Draft Value Points: 1400 + 64 + 8 = 1472
Bears Get:
Dolphins First Round (11 overall) Dolphins Third Round (79 overall)
Draft Value Points: 1250 + 225 = 1475
Ideology: the value of the trade is nearly equal so no team is really losing any ground. One could move up or down from here if they choose without being penalized. The second part is need. The Dolphins need a quarterback and this trade will get them closer to the top . Even if they don't like what's left at quarterback it's a win from a playmaker standpoint because there are no quarterbacks ranked within the top 8 picks. That would mean other players would slide and since the Dolphins need help virtually everywhere, they will get tremendous value. But then again we are talking about the Dolphins so who really knows what they're thinking?
The Bears win also. What do they really need? A guard/center, right tackle, and depth at WR, OLB and CB. Nagy is a disciple of Andy Reid who loves to bolster the trenches. Quinten Nelson will be gone by number eight so his teammate McGlinchey is the next highest available lineman. But eight is a little high and value is going to slide so them moving down 3 slots makes sense meanwhile moving up from 115 and grabbing an OLB in the third round at 79 works in their favor. Given some of their prospect visits, I think they will move Cody Whitehair to guard and draft James Daniels in the second round to play center. There was no need for a visit for McGlinchey since the Bears OL coach coached him the last few years at Notre Dame. Besides, the Bears have not taken an OT within the first four rounds since 2011 (Gabe Carimi) and only two in the last 14 years (Chris Williams 2008) neither panning out.
