Potential Trade: Buffalo/Chicago

I posted a possible trade between Miami and Chicago about a week ago. Today is another potential trade that makes complete sense to both teams for equal draft value.

Buffalo Receives from Chicago: #8 Overall and #39 Overall
Draft Value Points: 1400 + 510 = 1910

Chicago Receives from Buffalo:  #12 Overall, #53 Overall, and #56 Overall
Draft Value Points: 1200 + 370 + 340 = 1910

In the last two drafts, the Bears have traded up in the first round and down in the second. As I stated with the Miami trade, the Bears need more and better depth. Chicago looks to have a pretty good starting lineup by it drops off significantly after that. What do the Bears need? In reviewing their current roster in depth chart, they absolutely need OTs. Currently they have two on their staff; Leno and Massie. Charles Leno is an average LT at best and Massie is terrible. He has moments of being decent but that's about all one can say. If the Bears want to truly develop their young quarterback they must follow in the mold of Seattle with Russell Wilson and Dallas with Prescott. Both teams had terrific OLs for their rookie quarterbacks and they blossomed. The Bears need to try and do something similar. The other area of need is ILB. Freeman was hurt or suspended most of last year so Nick Kwiatoski filled in for him and did a decent job but Chicago could definitely use an upgrade. I thought before that OG would be an early area of attention (and it still might) but the Bears currently have seven offensive guards on their roster. Are they the best? No but in comparison to the situation at OT, the OG position is not as dire as one might think. The Bears could also stand to use another WR. Compared to teams like Philadelphia, the Bears are significantly lacking and need to add a few bodies. I expect them to look into this in the fourth round. The Bears could also use an edge rusher.

This potential trade also makes complete sense for Buffalo. Believe it or not, the Bills addressed many of their areas of need quietly in free agency. Even quarterback has been addressed with the signing of AJ McCarron so what do The Bills Need?  Like most, I think the Bills will look at a young QB to develop as well as youth at DT and TE.  So what to do? Well with McCarron aboard Buffalo is not desperate so they don't need to cash in both first rounders to move up to the top. With this scenario, the Bills are not losing any value and are really only giving up one late second round pick. Buffalo could also use another WR as well as OL, LB and CB depth.

Potential Draft Picks:

First-Round:

Buffalo #8 QB's Baker Mayfield, Lamar Jackson, Josh Rosen
Chicago #12 Mike McGlinchey OT, Roquan Smith ILB, Josh Jackson CB, Harold Landry OLB
