2017 NFL Mock Re-Draft: Round 2

This is a 2017 NFL Mock Re-Draft of Rounds 2 and 3 for Friday evening's NFL Draft coverage. With all of the trades that will go down, I don't expect to get many of these right (I nailed seven in my Re-Draft Round 2 in 2012, five in my Re-Draft Rounds 2-3 in 2014 and 2015, six in my Re-Draft Rounds 2-3 in 2016), but it's still fun to speculate where the top prospects will go on Day 2 of the 2017 NFL Draft.

33. Green Bay Packers: Joe Mixon, RB, Oklahoma
    Yes, Joe Mixon to the Packers! Green Bay is desperate for running back help, but that's not the primary take-away here. It's that teams seem like they're comfortable will selecting Mixon in the first round. Perhaps he'll still fall to the Bengals at No. 41, but as Charlie Campbell reported in the NFL Draft Rumor Mill, Green Bay has interest in Mixon.

34. Seattle Seahawks: Obi Melifonwu, S/CB, Connecticut
    The Seahawks did a great job of picking up extra picks. Now, they can take a player they easily could've chosen at No. 26. I've mocked Obi Melifonwu to the Seahawks quite a bit, and he fits everything they look for in a defensive back to a tee.
    
    
35. Jacksonville Jaguars: Davis Webb, QB, California
    It was rumored that the Jaguars were going to select Deshaun Watson. That didn't happen, but perhaps they have another signal-caller in mind to displace Blake Bortles.
    
    




36. Chicago Bears: Kevin King, CB, Washington
    The Bears signed Prince Amukamara, but they need a long-term answer as a No. 1 cornerback. They made a head-scratching pick in the first round, but they can partially make amends for it by adding a talented defender here.
    
    
37. Los Angeles Rams: Zay Jones, WR, East Carolina
    The Rams need to add lots of talent to help develop Jared Goof, which seems like a problem because they don't have a first-round pick. They could address every position outside of running back, and I don't think the Rams will get nearly as much value out of Robert Woods as they foolishly paid for.
    
    
38. Los Angeles Chargers: Forrest Lamp, G/C, Western Kentucky
    The Chargers need to protect Philip Rivers at all cost. There wasn't a blocker worth taking at No. 7 overall, but Forrest Lamp provides solid value at this spot.
    
    




39. New York Jets: Jordan Willis, DE/OLB, Kansas State
    The Jets continue their strategy of selecting the best player available. Jordan Willis could've gone at the end of the first, and he gives New York a potent edge rusher they've been looking for.
    
    
40. Carolina Panthers: Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama
    What a steal for the Panthers, as they finally get a talented offensive tackle who can actually protect Cam Newton.
    
    
41. Cincinnati Bengals: Tim Williams, DE/OLB, Alabama
    As mentioned in my mock, the Bengals wanted Solomon Thomas. Here's a potential pass-rushing solution.
    
    




42. New Orleans Saints: Derek Rivers, DE/OLB, Youngstown State
    The Saints want to select a pass-rusher in the first round. That didn't happen, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind landing Derek Rivers in the second round.
    
    
43. Philadelphia Eagles: Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida
    The Eagles have a huge hole at cornerback, so they could take two corners on Day 2, given how deep this class is in that particular area.
    
    
44. Buffalo Bills: JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, USC
    The Bills need some weapons for Tyrod Taylor, as they have to find another receiver just in case Sammy Watkins gets injured again.
    
    



45. Arizona Cardinals: Budda Baker, S, Washington
    The Cardinals have to continue to bolster the middle of their defense. They added an inside linebacker in the first round, and they'll get a replacement for Tony Jefferson at this juncture.
    
    
46. Indianapolis Colts: Dion Dawkins, G/OT, Temple
    The Colts need to make sure Andrew Luck is protected as well as possible. The big hole they have up front is at one of the guard spots.
    
    





47. Baltimore Ravens: Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State
    The Ravens scoop up another falling prospect. They'll need another running back to pair with Kenneth Dixon.
    
    
48. Minnesota Vikings: Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee
    The Vikings cut Adrian Peterson, and their best replacement might just be Latavius Murray, which doesn't sound very good.
    
    
49. Washington Redskins: Tanoh Kpassagnon, DE/DT, Villanova
    The Redskins continue to rebuild their poor front seven. They've shown interest in Tanoh Kpassagnon, who has extreme upside.
    
    
50. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Josh Jones, S, N.C. State
    The Buccaneers had major problems at safety throughout the year, so they could obviously take a player at that position much earlier than this. J.J. Wilcox was signed, but for only a 2-year deal.
    
    
51. Denver Broncos: Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt
    Zach Cunningham would've been an option for the Broncos in the first round had Garett Bolles not been available, so they'll be thrilled to land him here.
    
    
52. Cleveland Browns: Chidobe Awuzie, CB, Colorado
    The Browns have a big need for a cornerback, and Chidobe Awuzie has the athleticism they love. Opinions vary on Awuzie; some teams think he's a top-20 prospect, while two front offices told us that they have him in the fourth round.
    
    




53. Detroit Lions: Chris Wormley, DE/DT, Michigan
    I considered slotting Chris Wormley to the Lions at this pick in my mock draft. He'll fill a need as a replacement for Ndamukong Suh.
    
    
54. Miami Dolphins: Cordrea Tankersley, CB, Clemson
    I was recommended to slot Cordrea Tankersley to the Dolphins, which makes sense. He fits the range and fills a need for Miami.
    
    
55. New York Giants: Antonio Garcia, OT, Troy
    The Giants wanted Garett Bolles, yet he was stolen from them like Jack Conklin was. Here's their chance to upgrade the tackle position.
    
    




56. Oakland Raiders: Raekwon McMillan, LB, Ohio State
    It wouldn't have been surprising had the Raiders selected Reuben Foster. This makes sense as well, given Oakland's big need at linebacker.
    
    
57. Houston Texans: Marcus Maye, S, Florida
    The Texans are desperate for safety help, and I'd have to think they'd be thrilled if someone as talented as Marcus Maye falls to them in Round 2.
    
    
58. Seattle Seahawks: Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan
    The Seahawks have had success taking mid-round cornerbacks, but that doesn't mean they won't address the position in the early rounds. They have a hole at the position, and they took care of other areas in free agency, so they could go that route here.
    
    
59. Kansas City Chiefs: Curtis Samuel, WR, Ohio State
    There are rumors linking Curtis Samuel to the Chiefs. He fits what Andy Reid looks for in a receiver, and Samuel could eventually replace Jeremy Maclin as the team's No. 1 receiver.
    
    
60. Dallas Cowboys: Marcus Williams, S, Utah
    The Cowboys lost a couple of safeties this offseason, so they'll likely address the position at some point on Day 2.
    
    
61. Green Bay Packers: Tyus Bowser, DE/OLB, Houston
    The Packers managed to retain Nick Perry, but lost Julius Peppers in the process. Another edge rusher is needed. They can take Tyus Bowser, who came out of his shell to have a great Senior Bowl and then breathed fire at the combine.
    
    
62. Pittsburgh Steelers: DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame
    The Steelers have been inquiring about DeShone Kizer, but perhaps they determined that they'll be able to obtain him in Round 2.
    
    
63. Atlanta Falcons: Dan Feeney, G, Indiana
    The Falcons could stand to improve some areas of their defense, but they could also upgrade one area of the offensive line. Chris Chester was the lone liability up front, and he's not even on the team anymore. I don't think the Rams need any neighborly advice telling them that they need to bolster the one weakness on the blocking unit.
    
    
64. Carolina Panthers: Jalen Tabor, CB, Florida
    The Panthers could stand to add another cornerback. They had Jalen Tabor in for a visit.
