Round 1

Picks 17-32
17. Bengals: Nick Emmanwori, S, South Carolina

I am torn between Mike Green and Nick Emmanwori here. Their defense has been atrocious since they lost their safety duo of Bates and Bell. Emmanwori fits perfectly in this defense and is an incredible athlete. I am 50/50 on this one.

John's Team Needs: EDGE, DT, CB, S, LB, OL

18. Seahawks: Grey Zabel, OT, North Dakota State

Lot of buzz about Grey Zabel here - "John Schneider type pick". They need help desperately on the IOL. I would think this will definitely be on the offensive line. I would bet they love Nick Emmanwori but I really think the Bengals take him.

John's Team Needs: IOL, WR, CB, S

19. Buccaneers: Jihaad Campbell, LB, Alabama

They're in need of a linebacker. Campbell has flown up the board in the past few weeks due to his instincts, speed, and athleticism. Sneaky good pass rusher too. Tampa needs someone to play off the ball and he just had 119 tackles in the SEC. Great fit.

John's Team Needs: LB, CB, EDGE

20. Broncos: Omarion Hampton, RB, North Carolina

Sean Payton has said they're looking for a "joker" on their offense. They really need to add a running back. They did sign Evan Engram and Courtland Sutton is probably the most underrated receiver in the league. I think Omarion Hampton would fit perfectly here. Similar back to Breece Hall.

John's Team Needs: RB, WR, CB

21. Steelers: Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon

This pick is either Sanders or defensive tackle if Harmon is still on the board. It's no secret they love Derrick Harmon. I think they will value DT over reaching for a QB. They really botched it with Wilson and Fields. But I am 50/50 on Sanders vs Harmon. They cannot go into the season with only Mason Rudolph but I just don't think the value is there at QB. GM should be in hot water for how they handled that.

John's Team Needs: QB, DT, RB, OL

22. Chargers: Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan

This seems too perfect. This is a position they desperately need and he coached him at Michigan. I could also see them going with an edge rusher and it does not seem likely that Loveland will fall to here.

John's Team Needs: EDGE, TE, WR, RB

23. Packers: Mike Green, DE, Marshall

I think they go with an edge rusher here, after all Mike Green did just lead the NCAA in sacks with 17. Given that the production was there for Green gives him the edge over Stewart. Mike Green also lit up his pro day showing his athleticism. I have him falling due to reports about the allegations against him. But given that he himself addressed it at the combine it seems like he cleared the air a bit.

John's Team Needs: WR, EDGE, CB

24. Vikings: Malaki Starks, S, Georgia

This is a great fit. The secondary has been their achilles heel for quite a bit, but thats just the style of defense they play. All or nothing. Harrison Smith will probably retire within the next two years too. Starks was a stud at Georgia even as a freshman. Don't know why he's been falling but think this is a perfect fit.

John's Team Needs: CB, S, OL

25. Texans: Tyler Booker, G, Alabama

After losing Tunsil this pick has to be on the offensive line. I am torn between Booker and Conerly here. But if Booker is still on the board he is the best available on the offensive line. They did sign Cam Robinson so I think if Booker makes it here he will be the pick. Stroud regressed a little bit due to how bad the OL was. The WR room was banged up but he had no time. I think Conerly fits in perfectly here. There's been buzz about Emeka Egbuka here but OL has to be the priority.

John's Team Needs: OL, WR

26. Rams: Josh Conerly Jr., OT, Oregon

I am torn between Trey Amos and an offensive lineman here. I think they will address the tackle spot and think they can get a solid corner in the second round. Azareyeh Thomas would be the one to watch out for in round two.

John's Team Needs: CB, LB, OL

27. Ravens: Donovan Ezeiruaka, OLB, Boston College

He really feels like a Ravens pick, they need that edge rusher to complete this defense. They have a good secondary but they can only cover for so long. Best player available on defense here. Or wide receiver.

John's Team Needs: EDGE, S, OL

28. Lions: Matthew Golden, WR, Texas

Best player available. Brad Holmes does what Brad Holmes does. Golden could go as early as 12 and as late as 29. But I don't think the Lions pass him up if available. They only have Jameson Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown, why not add more speed? The book knows absolutely nothing when it comes to the Lions. They took Jahmyr Gibbs in 2023 and first pick RB was +3000. You never know.

John's Team Needs: EDGE, OL, S

29. Commanders: Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State

I want to put defense here but I think they are in a position to take the best available and there has been some talk about Egbuka here. I think he ends up going in round one. Would fit in perfectly in the slot and give Jayden Daniels a go to guy. Max Hairston could be another option.

John's Team Needs: EDGE, CB, S, WR

30. Bills: Shemar Stewart, DE, Texas A&M

They need to get away from this "let them run stop the pass" nonsense. It's the reason they're losing those games late in January. I had Ken Grant here but he is someone I could see going much earlier than this. Their run defense is their biggest issue and I think Shemar Stewart could fall here. He fits exactly what they need. Fits the Bill(s).

John's Team Needs: DT, WR, CB

31. Chiefs: Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State

Did you see what happened in the Super Bowl? All I have to say here. They just lost Thuney too.

John's Team Needs: OL, DL

32. Eagles: James Pearce Jr., DE/OLB, Tennessee

Do your thing, Howie. Pearce falling to them would drive me insane. There's so much potential here. They can afford to take the time to develop him. They lost Josh Sweat in free agency. Here's the replacement.

John's Team Needs: S, DL, OL
