Round 1

Picks 1-16
1. Titans: Cam Ward, QB, Miami

I think the deciding factor for Ward vs. Carter is a new front office. Will Levis' regression was solely due to the right tackle spot but it's quite possible he's just not the guy. But when it's all said and done, a new front office usually wants their own quarterback to bring in and develop. This team was so close a few years ago and they traded it all away.

John's Team Needs: QB, EDGE, WR

2. Browns: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado

The pick is Travis Hunter now and they will use him on both sides. They get the best player in the draft. Have to say I am really excited watch him play in the NFL.

John's Team Needs: QB, OT, WR, DT

3. Giants: Abdul Carter, OLB, Penn State

They will have the opportunity to take probably the best player in the draft or reach for a quarterback. This would strengthen their defensive line to the elite level.

John's Team Needs: QB, OL, DT, LB

4. Patriots: Will Campbell, OT, LSU

After signing Stefon Diggs and the Giants signing Russell Wilson it sort of shakes things up a bit.. This pick might shock some people but I think they can afford to do that. This could also be a spot someone jumps up to get Sanders, but again, I do not see the value. Will Campbell was a three year starter at LSU. They need to invest in Drake Maye. Jeanty could be a sleeper here, Mike Vrabel had Derrick Henry for so long and we know how heavily he relies on the run. But tackle has to be the pick.

John's Team Needs: OT, WR, DL

5. Bears: Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

TRADE

This has flipped big time in the last few days. The Jags defense was atrocious last year. Like horribly atrocious. Building the trenches has been mentioned by the new GM. With that being said, there's been some buzz about Ashton Jeanty, I really think they are trying to get the Bears to trade up. They had a historically bad defense last year. Moral of the story, this pick is between three guys. Mason Graham, Ashton Jeanty, and Jalon Walker is the sleeper. Trading is a lot easier said than done but I think they're trying to bait Chicago into it.

John's Team Needs: DT, CB, LB, TE, S

6. Raiders: Armand Membou, OT, Missouri

With Jeanty off the board, I am going to go with Membou here. I am torn between Kelvin Banks and Membou but Membou seems more like a Pete Carroll type player. They could take anything but it really does seem like they love Membou. I think they will take a QB in round two or three. They have been all smoke these last few days, Pete Carroll loves playing that game.

John's Team Needs: RB, CB, WR, S, LB

7. Jets: Mason Graham, DT, Michigan

This pick is going to come down to three players. Tyler Warren, Mason Graham (if still on the board), and Kelvin Banks. If Mason Graham falls to here I will have a hard time believing they pass on him. Their run defense was terrible last year. Joe Douglas would have picked Membou or Banks, no question. But this is a new front office, I think they will have a different approach. They've kept it very quiet over the past few weeks as to where the only thing that's gotten out is they had a visit with Tyler Warren. I think this pick goes best player available. It seems like the betting odds are slowly moving toward Mason Graham. The connection to Jahdae Barron implies them trading down.

John's Team Needs: WR, OT, DT, TE, CB

8. Panthers: Jalon Walker, OLB, Georgia

One of my favorite players in the draft. They desperately need help on defense and he fits the bill. Can play off ball or on the edge and is one of the highest football IQ players in the draft. He would have an immediate impact and fits exactly what they need. I firmly believe he will be one of the best players to come out of this draft. I've seen the noise about Mykel Williams here, still think it's Walker. I would be shocked if they take Shemar Stewart too. This is the floor for Jalon Walker. No way he makes it past here.

John's Team Needs: EDGE, LB, WR, CB

9. Saints: Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State

I am officially out on the Saints taking Sanders here. To be honest I don't think the Saints were ever in on it. It makes a ton of sense but I cannot see them calling his name. The Saints are the biggest mystery in the draft right now. But I think it is media hype driving the push for Sanders here. Not buying it anymore. But best player available in Tyler Warren. It seems like they're between Mykel Williams and Tyler Warren here. Depends what they prefer. I think Warren will be higher on their board.

John's Team Needs: CB, TE, OL, DL, QB, WR
(You name it they need it.)

10. Jaguars: Kelvin Banks, OT/G, Texas

TRADE

They love Jeanty and there is no question about it. This pick could very well be the Jaguars and I think I would probably still slot Kelvin Banks here as I do not think Mason Graham would make it here. But if he is gone, and I think he will be, Kelvin Banks will complete their offensive line at left tackle. I don't know what the deal with Kelvin Banks falling in mock drafts was. I think he is a lock to go in the top 10.

John's Team Needs: OT, EDGE, RB

11. 49ers: Mykel Williams, DE, Georgia

I think this may be Mykel Williams' floor. This one is just falling in their lap. While Mykel Williams is a bit raw, he's only 20 years old, and an elite run defender. He would fit nicely on this line. They have to get back to making their defense elite. Walter Nolen is my sleeper here.

John's Team Needs: CB, DT, OL

12. Cowboys: Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

Rumors have them leaning toward Golden here. I could see either McMillan or Golden but I am going to go with McMillan. It's all preference. The speedy receivers tend to get drafted earlier nowadays but McMillan is just flat out the better prospect.

John's Team Needs: RB, WR, CB, OT, LB

13. Dolphins: Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas

They're favored to take OL but with the top three offensive linemen off the board I think they would be more than happy with Will Johnson or Jahdae Barron here. They're top priorities in this draft are to rebuild the secondary and the offensive line. Malaki Starks could be the pick here too.

John's Team Needs: OL, CB, S, EDGE

14. Colts: Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan

It's no secret they love Tyler Warren. But I don't think there's a chance he falls to 14. Colts have been heavily linked to Tyler Booker but I am not sure the positional value is there. I think Warren and Loveland are 1A and 1B for them.

John's Team Needs: TE, IOL, CB

15. Falcons: Walter Nolen, DT, Ole Miss

This pick has to be on the defensive line. I am torn between Mike Green and Walter Nolen here. I had Mike Green here but my usual sources have him falling. I think this is the floor for Mykel Williams.

John's Team Needs: EDGE, DT, LB, CB

16. Cardinals: Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

I think corner is the pick if one of the two fall to here. Their secondary has been terrible in the last few years. This seems like a Cardinals pick. Will Johnson is falling due to the foot injury but not sure he makes it past here. His O/U is 24.5 now. That is a huge swing.

John's Team Needs: DT, CB, OL
