Round 1

Picks 1-16
1. Titans: Cam Ward, QB, Miami

2. Browns: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado

The Browns need a QB and a new face of their franchise. Recently, there was a report that the Browns wanted Myles Garrett to take on an increased leadership role. This leads me to believe that he hasn’t been much of a leader and/or there has been a glaring leadership hole at QB.

Cleveland really needs one of everything. They may not be sold on Shedeur Sanders and may not want more distractions from the team’s quarterback. Browns fans, we hope to see you in the playoffs sometime soon.

3. Giants: Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

This selection could either be Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter, but I do think the Giants will go with a QB here. Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston cannot guarantee you success over an entire season, and certainly not in the long term. Sanders can fit the swagger needed to lead the most popular football team in the NYC area.

4. Patriots: Abdul Carter, OLB, Penn State

My Patriots get a defensive splash to develop alongside offensive leader Drake Maye. You may have seen this dude all over the screen in College football this year. If only one QB is selected in the first three picks, then this choice would likely be Will Campbell/Tet McMillan/Mason Graham or traded out. I wonder if the market will react to Carter’s injuries between now and the draft.

1. Titans: Cam Ward, QB, Miami

The Titans are hopeful to get their next franchise QB and stay pat to select Cam Ward. Ward has the most passing touchdowns in NCAA history. His skill set is a bit more modern than Shedeur Sanders’ and his personality is much more manageable. The Titans may be looking to re-brand with a new stadium. This pick could help to pack seats.

5. Jaguars: Mason Graham, DT, Michigan

The Jaguars have been sailing in rough seas for quite some time. Trevor Lawrence was hailed as the next Peyton Manning and has not become a top 10 QB. Getting some stability on the offensive line could help him inch closer to that projection, though it is unlikely that he will get close.

Instead, the Jaguars solidify their defensive line and grab an offensive lineman later. Mason Graham's draft stock has dropped in recent months, but he was consistently mocked as a top 5 pick for the last year or two. I believe he will end up going before his Michigan counterpart Kenneth Grant.

6. Raiders: Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

The Raiders could do a lot of things here at pick #6. They may even trade out to get draft resources that would allow them to draft a QB down the line or trade up for Shedeur Sanders. But for simplicity's sake, I'll say that the Raiders stay here and select a potential game changer.

Tom Brady and co. may want to bring some starpower to Las Vegas. It is a huge market due to its location and could bring a great ROI if the team can compete at a high level.

7. Jets: Will Campbell, OT, LSU

The Jets definitely still need a quarterback as of today. They seem to be eternally failing. Davante Adams was cut and left a big opportunity to fill alongside Garrett Wilson. If the Jets can find a decent QB and the new coaching staff works out, they have enough talent to succeed.

Mason Graham is off the board here, so the Jets select someone to develop for the team’s future. The Jets have lost some lineman over the past couple seasons such as Morgan Moses and Mekhi Becton. Tyron Smith was a wash last season. Will Campbell may be my favorite personality in the draft. A great dude who seems wiser than his years and is a hard worker.

8. Panthers: Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

This pick would supplement Bryce Young’s development. Tet McMillan has the ideal NFL body for a receiver. He visited Carolina on a Top 30 visit. The Panthers need to invest in their defensive line after trading Brian Burns to the Giants. Mason Graham would be a great selection here if he were on the board.

9. Saints: Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

The Saints need everything and this is a start. New coach Kellen Moore will want to develop the offense, but the top receiver, running back, and QBs have already been selected. Will Johnson is someone who had been consistently mocked as a top pick before getting injured and missing the combine and his pro day. He may slide on draft day as a result.

With Derek Carr still on the roster and the Saints’ cap situation, it will be hard to field a good football team in the next couple of seasons. The Saints will not be able to make big splashes because their GM bet the house on Drew Brees' final years and years after in an effort to remain a competitive team. He restructured many contracts and the deferred money has come to roost.

10. Bears: Jalon Walker, OLB, Georgia

Ben Johnson and Ryan Poles have made some splashes on offense this offseason. This pick fits the need for defensive support. The Bears pass rush is pretty abysmal, and a team needs a defense to win. Ashton Jeanty would be a great addition for the Bears; a stud running back that we've seen in the Lions offense over the past few seasons. It would also take some of the workload off Caleb Williams, and may enable Caleb's progression in year two.

11. 49ers: Armand Membou, OT, Missouri

The 49ers could go in many directions in the first round of this draft. San Francisco should take a lineman to develop while Trent Williams is still playing. Also, it will protect Brock Purdy who will have fewer receiving threats this season. The 49ers also lost a lot of defensive talent this offseason. Specifically, I thought the Hufanga deal was a steal and the Broncos defense will be spooky next season. Will Johnson could be the selection here if he’s still on the board.

12. Cowboys: Mykel Williams, DE, Georgia

The Cowboys lose out on Ashton Jeanty and look to bolster their defensive line instead. This franchise stinks, they're super overrated and oversaturated in American media and Jerry Jones is senile. Kenneth Grant had great measurements at the combine. He shouldn’t go too far after Mason Graham, but defensive ends are valued higher than defensive tackles. So, Dallas goes with the best edge player left.

13. Dolphins: Kelvin Banks, OT/G, Texas

Tua needs to be protected maybe more than anyone in the NFL at this point. Terron Armstead also just retired. Therefore, I project the best offensive lineman remaining is selected by Miami.

This pick could also be in the secondary. Jevon Holland was a free agent this offseason and leaves a hole in the Miami secondary. Nick Emmanwori is a physical freak and could make a great pro.

14. Colts: Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State

The Colts haven’t had a franchise guy at tight end in quite some time. Tyler Warren seems to fit the mold of a modern NFL tight end. A guy like Warren at this position could act as a safety blanket for Anthony Richardson and any other QB who might play for the Colts next season.

15. Falcons: Nick Emmanwori, S, South Carolina

The Falcons have invested a lot on offense in recent drafts and need to support that with a better defense. Nick Emmanwori might be the best defensive player left on the board here and has visited Atlanta on a Top 30 visit (along with Malaki Starks). Another position that I could see selected here is an edge rusher or an offensive lineman to protect Michael Penix. The QB had multiple season-ending injuries in college.
