Round 1

Picks 17-32
17. Jaguars: Jer'Zhan Newton, DT, Illinois

Another PFFer took over the Jags. Would someone finally take an edge rusher? "The interior is the bigger need and Newton fits the bill." Then he made a rugby analogy I didn't understand.

Sam Monson, PFF

18. Bengals: Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OT, Penn State

Some of these odd selections made James Rapien of SI quite happy. "[Fashanu's] expected to be picked before the Bengals are on the clock, but if he does somehow fall to them, it would be a great fit."

James Rapien, SI.com

19. Rams: J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan

The J.J. slide finally ends! Giardi (formerly of the NFL Network) claims the Rams are one of the teams who have been "sniffing around signal callers."

Mike Giardi, Boston Sports Journal

20. Steelers: Dallas Turner, OLB, Alabama

Our second simulator pick is very BPA. Edge rusher #1 is off the board. No comment, but it did have Turner #8 overall.

21. Dolphins: Graham Barton, G/OT, Duke

"One of my favorite players in the class," says Nick Baumgardner, GM wannabe of Miami.

Nick Baumgardner, The Athletic

22. Eagles: Jared Verse, DE, Florida State

Local guy Zach Ciavolella picked for the Eagles. He wanted to trade up for Verse, but it turns out he didn't have to. "A powerful and intimidating rusher."

Zach Ciavolella, Metro Philadelphia

24. Cowboys: Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State

The Draft Network has Coleman #13 on their overall board, so Ryan Fowler's pick was no surprise. "He has an immense performance ceiling that will force a hefty amount of targets early in his career."

Ryan Fowler, The Draft Network

23. Patriots: Cooper DeJean, S/CB, Iowa

(from MIN) Another guy named Cooper? Bill was perhaps taking his cue from Chris Traspaso, who had DeJean mocked to the Pats in this very spot.

Bill Belichick, former NFL coach

25. Packers: Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota

The last of the PFF experts, Trevor Sikkema gave the Pack a DB. "Even after signing Xavier McKinney in free agency, the Packers could still use another high-impact safety."

-Trevor Sikkema, PFF

26. Buccaneers: Jackson Powers-Johnson, C, Oregon

The Bucs surely need an edge rusher, but NFC South analyst Greg Auman pointed out that they had terrible play at center last year. "It's a position that would be an important upgrade for Tampa Bay."

Greg Auman, FoxSports

27. Cardinals: Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson

After taking Nabers earlier, Walt gives the Cards a speedy CB. "The Cardinals had a horrific secondary that couldn’t stop anyone last year."

Walter Cherepinsky, Walter Football

28. Panthers: Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas

(from BUF) I promised Chris Traspaso I'd let it go more than a round so he could pick for the Panthers. He worked a swap with Buffalo to move up five spots. "The Panthers can't resist adding someone with Xavier Worthy's speed to the offense."

Chris Traspaso, CBS Sports

29. Lions: Kris Abrams-Draine, CB, Missouri

Another CBS Sports guy. Edwards has Abrams-Draine 25th on his overall Big Board. "A fluid prospect who transitions well across the field."

Josh Edwards, CBS Sports

30. Ravens: J.C. Latham, OT, Alabama

I asked for Todd McShay and they sent me Field Yates instead. He gave the Ravens a "big, powerful, physical road-grading run blocker."

Field Yates, ESPN

31. 49ers: Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU

Damian Parson of TDN likes Penei Sewell's cousin. "He can play both OT spots and the RT position needs upgrading for San Francisco."

Damian Parson, The Draft Network

32. Chiefs: Ja'Lynn Polk, WR, Washington

Pete Schrager picked for the champs. The position was not a surprise, but the player? "Polk is a personal favorite."

Peter Schrager, NFL.com
